  1. holy off topic! back on topic.... yes i know theres a somewhat of a vendors list on the main page but most people here don't go through the main page when they come here.....atleast i don't. do any of you vets? the new guys damn sure don't check out that section, they come straight over to the forums and post away like mad men. as i said, i don't mind keeping the list updated myself, it really isn't a lot of work considering i'm doing it anyway. i'm just saying, it would make more sense to have it pinned or something in the "where to buy section" in the forums where members interact and are more likely to see it. it will help all us find new sources for our addiction and give us a way of getting the most bang for our buck. anyhow, its just a suggestion, if they(owners) don't want to do it, i'll keep updating my list and provided to those who ask.
  2. smallblueplanet.com has the 1/60 super max for $40 and the super millia for $50. and they ship out of PA. shipping starts at $4.99 and up. and since i know you like the MPC's they got the 1R for $40 too...i think? i checked out the site this morning but can't remember off the top of my head. 2 OF EA + 2 mpc...yyyeeeeaaaaayyyyaaaaaaa!!!!!! your welcome! just because you like MPC's and i like yammies doesn't mean we can't get along. call me a hippie but its all about the love my brothas!
  3. hey there! just a small suggestion but is it possible to have a online macross/robotech vendors list pinned or something in the "where to buy" section? nothing fancy, just a list of the sites/individuals(dudes that sell here), and a some brief info on locations, shipping, that sort of thing. i just think it would helpful to everyone if they/we knew all our options. i wouldn't mind updating it myself if need be but i think it would benefit the whole community and also reduce the "where can i get this" type of questions that pop up here all too often. i've been keeping a small list going myself and passing it around when people ask for info, no biggie for me but it would make more sense if it was pinned. anyhow, its just a thought, so let me know what you guys think? take care and thanks for your time.

  5. sure....right......you're not a poke-dork, a scooby doo-doo head, and theres no way you get your power rangers uniform dry cleaned around the corner from your office. whats that place called? trekkie cleaners. sorry dude but the "poke-dork" brought it out of me.
  6. its funny but thats exactly what happened to me. i bought the MPC cause i didn't know any better, someone pointed me here to MW, i asked around, picked up a 1/60(cool), then BANDAI 1/55(classic), and then a 1/48(need i say more). well now you got me paranoid. i just put my bandais away and now it got me thinking..... maybe the yellowing occurs cause there is no "fresh air" circulating? i discovered this with my white lego pieces. i had some sealed in a ziploc bag, yet the pieces yellowed. i had some pieces just sitting out and no yellowing what so ever. i'm still not sure, nor is anyone else but i think keeping them air-tight is whats causing some of the problems? i'm not a 100% sure but i'll pull my bandais out of the box and just store them in the same closet "open", with no box, no wrapping, no special nothing and see what happens? though i really wish i had another MPC to do this with....no reason to ruin my good toys on freak experiments.
  7. i'm done unless they come out with others. i just picked up a cheap 1S so i can have 2 valks with GBP armor.
  8. Well how else would he have *known* it was crap if he didn't own one? I guess if someone doesn't like the MPC they just can't win. If they don't own one they get ragged for talking about it without really knowing. If they do own one they get ragged because they must just be putting it down to be cool. I sold mine. I did own it, but don't anymore. Am I allowed to rag on it? thank you RTShark, i sensed some fire i those words. APU, i stand by my opinion, i think the MPC's are crap, plain and simple. i own 1/48's, 1/60's, 1/55(bandais) and had 1 MPC. thats all it took for me to know it was a piece of crap, unworthy of display on my shelves. the sad part is, that was the first valk i got since i was a little kid and i didn't even play with it. from the minute i removed it from the box i knew i had gotten ripped off. sorry if the MPC isn't my bag but thats my opinion. i apologize for all the italics but some folks here are too sensitive, so i'd like to make it clear that i only speak for myself and my disappointments while owing this toy. back to the topic at hand.... it seems there is no logically explaination for this happening to the valk? plastic clam shell, enclosed case, plastic bag, cardboard box, in a closet, not near a window or any sunlight. there is no reason for this? other than toynami uses crappy materials or theres some kind of weird stuff lurking in my closets.
  9. I actually have the pokemon merchandising guide on my desk (next to my scooby doo, power ranger and yu-gi-oh ones) and I occasionally flip through it. Did you know pokemon has it's own typeface? and i thought i had problems. hehehe the only people to blame for all this collecting madness is EBAY. if it wasn't for ebay, no one would really know about all the varients of XYZ product nor would anyone even care. theres always fan sites but no one there was bragging about how they got the boba fett with the silver rocket pack...they'd just assume they had the same one everyone else has. its sellers on ebay that created this craze with long descriptions and pointing out small flaws in the products. i hate ebay!
  10. its just sad you know the pokemon characters names. i spent a buttload on SW lego myself, i guess i'll have to wait and see what happens to prices when the next movie drops.
  11. i have no idea how big this thing is. i'd have to sit there with a magnifying glass and count all the studs in order to know. i know the builders S/N but theres no way to contact him through brickshelf. maybe he'll make an appearance here or over at fbtb...though its a SW lego site.
  12. go check this out guys... check this out fool!
  13. i foudn this on my other favorite site so i thought i'd share it here. thsi thing is just awesome. take a look. hers the link to al the pics... CLICK ME and heres one of the pics.
  14. sweet pic! believe it or not but i don't have this program....dial-up + megs = sucks for me. besides i'm a trial and error type of guy when i build stuff. MLCAD is like cheating myself of the aggravation of building. i like it when i have those "til 5:00am in the morning" type of lego sessions.
  15. The answer is really simple. Have you inspected the plastic on the MPC? Compare it to the Yammie 1/60 and you will notice that it is of significantly lower quality, much softer than the Yammie. Not only that, it is more translucent than the yammie, which is basically opaque. Hence, the glowing head syndrome... The Rick 1J MPC is white. Without the presence of dyes and combined with the translucence and cheap plastic, the yellowing will show up much easier and earlier. Anyways, in the end ALL plastics will oxidize by virtue of the air we breathe. Yellowing is inevitable. It can be slowed but not stopped. Ok, that's not true. You could keep it in a sealed chamber flooded with inert gas and it will probably not yellow, but if you have that kind of money and devotion to a toy, I think you need to get a life. Air oxidation is usually not a big problem for quality plastics. UV is much more effective at breaking apart organic bonds. That's why we wear sunblock: so our DNA doesn't get damaged. Not only that, UV is capable of initiating free radical oxidations, a chain reaction, in compounds that have halogens. Since many plastics contain halogens, I would guess this could be a problem. Just to clarify, I do organic chemistry as well as molecular biology for a living and while I do not work with plastics, the principles involved in any organic chemical reaction is pretty much universal. you call that simple? its still strange that i went to such great lengths to take care of it and keep it away for sunlight and otehr outside forces yet it still yellowed? i always thought it was sunlight that did this but now i have to find all new method(other than inert gases..do farts count? ) for storing my toys. and yes, the plastic is WAY CHEAP!
  16. thanks for your help guys... ripped off? it wasn't like that when i got it....i'm 10000% sure. and it was stored in my toy closet, no dirty socks and underwear in there....only the ones i'm wearing are dirty and smelly.
  17. unfortunately i don't have "mister 32 plus valks" for customizing at the moment. LOL so no i have not. i've used on in several different things all with the same result.... it works! i'll gladly try it on one of my valks for you, but you'll have to replace the piece when it works....dude its $3, take chance. if it doesn't work, you can bust my balls here on MW, i'm not going anywhere.
  18. duh! the destroid arms are made of lego silly. j/k nah the biceps are made from two engine piece like these... http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/30360?img=9483 the forearm/cannon is made of a bunch of these stacked...these are also made in plates...1/3 the height of a brick. http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/3941 the tips of the cannons are actually wheels without the tires.
  19. i honestly don't think sunlight or any light has to do with it and let me explain why. if any of you remember, i recently sold my MPC vf1J hunter veritech. i literally pull it out of the box once, transformed it, noticed how crappy it was, put it back in the box. its never seen the light of day and i've never displayed it...EVER! it was the crappiest thing i bought, and a disgrace to have it next to a yammie so safely it stayed in my closet for however many months. well i threw up the auction and didn't bother opening up again, anyone here who checked the auction knows i didn't even bother to take a pic of it. so finally the auction ended and i decided to give it a once over, you know, to make sure everything was in there, etc when i noticed one of the wings had yellowed! WTF!!! the fact is that the MPC was never displayed, never seen the light of day(opened it at night time), packed exactly like it came from the factory, stored in my closet, sealed in the box, sealed in a plastic bag, and then put into a another box and it still yellowed? now mind you, i got this before this past christmas so it wasn't like it was hot...it was BRICK here in NYC, and it still hasn't gotten warm enough nor has the humidity level really gone up. so how do you guys explain that one?
  20. what makes one worth more? nothing, it really depends how many people are looking for the same thing at the same time. nobodies looking, the prices stay reasonable or even drops. everyone looking, the price shoot up. it also doesn't help that we have ebay. it makes it too easy for a seller to gauge prices when they have no idea what the value of an item is. basically the item is only worth what the next person is willing to pay for it. some people collect varients and i guess you can consider the 1S and 1A first releases that, and someday, someone out there will think its worth more. when? and who? i have no idea but collecting the yamato "varients"(for a lack of better words) is nowhere near the SW figures...luke with a blue arm band, luke with a blue arm band but it has the rebel logo, luke knealing with no shoes, luke rocking a pair of nikes, etc. its ridiculous but some people are like that and they're more than welcome to spend all their money on obtaining such things. me i jst get what i like or what i think is cool and leave it at that. i'm a completist to a degree but not to the degree of starvation over toys.
  21. if the 1/48's had pop off leg action i would have never bought 4 of them.... but now that i have them i am starting to get into 1/60's (its kinda like an addiction) DETACHABLE LEGS ROCK! 1/60'S RULE! i started and finished the 1/60's, they're the best! now i'm onto 1/48/'s....even though you can't really play with them.
  22. that use to be one of my favorite sites until they started charging people. i found the site when it first came out way back in the day cause they had that game where you have to get Jake laid which was the shiz-nit and all those hotties every week. they weren't naked but there were some that were "right click" worthy in there.
  23. the 1S max is basically the standard valk, with "S" head with the blue arrows painted on and "001" on the wing. other than that, theres nothing more yamato would have to do....well other than they have to change the box.
  24. hey neova. a few more parts for ya. BD2 and BD3 damn i'm going broke trying to fix my stuff.
  25. there no trial an error here. i use this stuff whenever i'm trying to remove paint from anything. i doesn't damage plastic nor does it make the plastic brittle over time. carb cleaner is way strong and will melt the plastic. brake fluid is alright but you gotta let it soak and eventually seeps into the plastic making it brittle. pine-sol, i have no idea? but the brasso, is specifically made for polishing, no scratching, no damage to surfaces...nadda. i've heard of a polish that scratches or damages the surface being polished...they'd all be out of business. either way i swear by it so do whatcha gotta do.
