  1. heres a group shot of "J in the gang"
  2. yeah i hear that! they could've sold it as a complete clear strike/super FP kit(obviously not all the details) and charged the same amount as a regular FP kit.
  3. mental note..... don't buy a YF-21 from RichterX.
  4. you make me raugh! ..."i'll be at the ramada inn eating silver dollar pancakes" talk to the guy whos a friggin bridge bunny! i might have to go into a posting rampage but i'm afraid i'll turn into hikaru's jock strapper sniffer or something worse!
  5. heres the same pic but opposite....obviously i like huffing a combination of nail polish and krazy glue and drinking heineken. who the heck dusts there keyboard, mine stays dirty!
  6. the secret method is just a pencil. i followed someones advice to do panel lines and they came out way too dark. i licked my thumb(yeah whatever!) and tried rubbing it off, it looked cool, i ended up creating this "dirty" look. it took forever since i hand rubbed(my thumbs hurt so much) every piece i could and thats why it took 6 hours. the problem is, some of the valk parts are grainy, some smooth, so the graphite doesn't hold as well or holds too well but it ain't too bad. the best part is, its graphite, so you can erase your mistakes! no paint for me please. i'm sure if i sand certain parts down(which i don't want to do), things would be easier but i figure it'll just take some patience and i'll be able to get the entire thing to my liking, along with change the color scheme to another color, maybe get some decals, then finish it off with a clear coat it. btw, i didn't continue to lick my thumbs the hold time.
  7. well this is my first custom ever...other than some cheesey ones i did but all in all, it looks like my 1J took a dirt bath.
  8. heres the last one for now...
  9. heres one in fighter mode...i should've said "dirty" instead of weathered.
  10. heres a couple, sorry but its dark now and my flash is screwing up the pic....it hard to see any details. i haven't done anything to it as of yesterday but any comments on how to make it fresher would be greatly appreciated.
  11. i couldn't agree more. i get mine to display/play with them. i really don't understand the folks that spend an arm and a leg on a toy, sometimes buying multiples, just so they can stare at them in a box? well whatever floats your boat i guess. maybe they'll go up in price....like 20 years from now.
  12. hey g-man, yeah sorry about the poor pic quality but i took it at 3:00am in the morning. you can't make out any of the details and such but i can tell you this, this is a fully playable valk. meaning none of the paint is gonna rub off, smudge, chip, fleck, none of that madness. i think i discovered a new method in creating a battered/weathered look without using a drop of paint.
  13. i weathered the more visible parts but i haven't completely finished it. i'll take some more pics in different modes when i get home tonight, this was just a tiny preview.
  14. so after being bored last night i started my first 1/48 custom and 6 hours later i came up with this.
  15. i bought some clear FPs as well back on the 17th(thursday). i got a PM on the 21st(monday) saying he was swamped at work and he would get my order out by friday(the one that just passed) and its wednesday today. no biggie, i'm not in any rush, i know shawn is on the up and up, and i know hes got his real life to deal with before shipping out a bunch of toys for us here. i shall wait patiently til july 15th, then i'll start to worry.
  16. maybe i should go 1/60 crazy? its actually not that bad making a 1/48 1S max and involved very little time to make one. i bought an extra 1S hik pulled the S head and 001 wing off it. i had the 1A max(don't really care for the 1A head) and swapped the head and wing. i slapped the 1A head on what used to be a 1S hik, and made it a 1A hikaru. its only sitting there for spare parts in case i break a DYRL valk and to offer up to the spare parts thread. i did the same thing for custom LV 1J. bought the J, pulled the head off, offered what i could to the spare parts thread to make some of the money back and again, i'm keeping the rest, just in case i break a TV valk....well a 1J hik anyway. not really cost effective but i'd like to think of it as being prepared(as far as me breaking something) as opposed to i bought a bunch of dups for no reason. i have my 1/48 S fleet(roy, hik, max), J fleet(hik, M&M's), plus 3 super 1J(1 in each mode, my fav.), a regular 1J(non FP), 1J/A LV and all i need now is a 1S LV and i'll be a happy man.
  17. i got one set right now with a few more on the way(thanks shawn!) and i'm kind of liking them. i wish they could've been more transparent but hey, its better than just pulling the covers off all the time. i got mine on a 1S hik in gerwalk mode since you can enjoy all the details that way...looks great! i'll take a pic of tonight when i get home.
  18. download, download, and download, thats what i'd do, til my ears hurt and my eyes bleed. there so many good songs out there, from the oldies to 50 cent and everything inbetween. i'd go to each of my friends houses and then my friends friends houses, maybe my folks, maybe some of my friends folks that might have the ill music collection and go friggin nuts!
  19. i'd keep the Ipod hands down. i mean its your/planets entire music collection ready to go anywhere you go. bring a valk to play with on a road trip/flight is not the same as having some rocking tunes where ever you go, for the rest of your life. 40 gigs, thats how many songs? how many albums? if you'd like, i literally just got a 1/48 Super 1J hikaru yesterday if you want to trade for the IPOD.
  20. i have what you're looking for, PM sent!
  21. from my experience with these stands, the 1/60 are just hard to pose in general. i would suggest using 2, 2.5" rods(for the feet) and either 1, 4" or 1, 6" rod(to support the back). you can always go 2, 4" rods and 1, 6" rod as well but as i said, the 1/60's are difficult to pose. honestly, its worth buying atleast 3 stands, 1 of each size, and mix and match the rods and have some fun with them. after you figure out which ones come in handy, just buy more of those. i bought a bunch of 2.5" stands for 1/60 and 1/72 fighter modes and a couple of extra ones for the rods. i bought a bunch of 6" stands cause they are the most versatile and a few 4" stands because they more sturdy compared to the 6" stands(depending on how your displaying them) and again for the extra rods. using various combos of rods, you can create just about any pose....did you see my "flip kick" pic? or my "just shillin mang" pic? its really up to you to see waht you can get away with, its all about balance and leverage so be creative and have fun with it, i know i do.
