Got me a Nike SB Macross shirt!
do not disturb replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
as general rule of speciality skateshops... they usually won't sell more than 2 shirts with a limited production run to the same person. they don't like it when someone comes in and tries to buy their inventory cause theres too many scalpers out there. you'd be amazed how many japanese kids come to the states(atleast NYC) looking to score limited skate shirts and sell them over there(japan) at 4-8 times the mark up. same goes for kicks. if you don't know the salesperson, you'd be lucky if you get 1 pair, let alone 2, for the same reason above. you have to go to multiple shops and try to pick up one here and there or bribe the salesperson so you can get more than one, especially if your a japanese person. i'm not trying to sound racist or anything(i'm asian myself) its just a fact of life. -
pretty darn cool. i wish i held onto my 11b FP.
-
cool, i guess i'm excited. if it just a larger version of the 1/60 sculpt, i'll only buy one. if they make it better than the somewhat borderline craptastic 1/60 version, i'll buy 2, if not 3.

haha! nice find bobe, i didn't even know that nike was going to produce t-shirts for the riders. now i'm gonna have to call in some favors. obviously i don't know where to get the t-shirts yet, but i can get the SB shoes in sizes 9-12 but at some ridiculous mark up....like $150 or something. i really hate how nike kicks always get marked up so much i comparison to other sneaker companies. -
some really good points here. but as i said, i think its mostly to do with the robotech name and the fact(as ewilen pointed out) that theres no way to compare a toy by looking at pictures on the internet. you see yamato, you see master piece collection....what would you get just based on description? now as sad as this sounds, i think robotech battlecry for PS2 also had something to do with the rise in numbers of new collectors out there. hey, i'll admit it, i played battlecry for a while, started reminiscing about having a, dare i say it, veritech back in the day and how it would be nice to own one...you know, just for shits and giggles. it started with one, now i have 30+ valks. but i think a lot of that had to do with looking at pics of other peoples collections and coming to this site way too often.

so i still haven't gotten to play this crap....what a waste of money. too many freakin problems, too many conflicts, too many issues, i loved HL1 but this shiet is ridiculous. do i need a degree in gaming and computer science to get this working or what?

haha! great minds think alike! edit: whoops that suppose to be minds. ...though mids can be good too.

not me personally but i've witnessed many of boneheads that have. the first valk i got(outside of being a kid) was the MPC 1J hikkie(paid $80)....man what a mistake. i search far a wide looking to pick up 1 single valk(veritech back then) just to relive my youth. unfortunately, i didn't know of yamato or macross and saw the words "master piece collection" and thought it would be the best, the top of the line. i was quickly proven wrong the day i receive it in the mail. i came to bitch about it on the RT forums when someone was nice enough to point me to MW before a mod deleted it and that was the beginning of the end for me. now to actually answer your question....on word.... VALK-O-HOLISM. you quickly discover theres no reason to have just one, when you can have them all. also, some folks are the crazy completists and have no choice but to buy anything thats robotech/macross...i think its something in the genes.

the game is alright, i still play it sometimes. first off, the guarding the cats eye missions are fairly easy. stay in gerwalk, match the speed of the cats eye, don't bother so much with the battle pods, go for the fighters first cause the battle pods concentrate on you more than the cats eye. if you see yellow arrows(means enemy missile are incoming) on your HUD, quickly switch into fighter mode, drop 1 or 2 counter-measures and go back into gerwalk mode. i never really had that much of a problem with it. at first yes, but after i figured out all the controls, its was a breeze. the only big downside to this game is the "ceiling" on some of the levels, other than that, i like the game and think its worth owning...but not at full price.

hey dude, heres the solution to your problem.... you know the little twist ties that come packaged with your mecha toys? yeah the ones thats wire in the inside and plastic on the outside, yeah those ones. just remove the wire and cut a tiny piece off and stick it inbetween the wrist and the hand. problem solved.

i thought i read this thread and there was no official word if ti was going to be exactly the same? personally, i'm hoping for a grey version of the 1S cause this off white plastic is just going to yellow over time.

simply cause robotech is the american version that most of the people out there are familiar with. robotech is a household name in america, whereas, macross is the household name in japan. if you were just starting to collect macross/robotech toys, what would you search under? robotech or macross? even when i first started out, i looked for robotech toys and was like, "WTF is this macross stuff? must be some bootleg BS, i'll stick with the robotech label" because thats what i knew best. i didn't find out about macross/yamato until way later in the game and i'm sure most of us here have gone through the same thing when each of us started. collectibility, sadly enough is on toynami side for this reason, hence the high ass prices on those POS MPC. even 10 years down the line the MPC will probably sell at a higher price than the yamato 1/48 simple cause of this reason. if you're looking to resell to make a profit later down the road, pick up the MPCs...especially the ones with the cells. if you want the best of the best and have no intention of ever reselling, stick with the yamato's.....personally, i'll be sticking with the yamatos.

thats nothing, the same dude sold his previous FP for $100+. as far as the 1S you got, you might want to contact the 2nd highest bidder and get rid of that sucker.

don't have a pic of it but its the emblem for the Space Marines for 40k.

NEW Official MPC Thread!!!

for the 1/48 FP's... the RMS missile problem is easily solved with a single coat(maybe 2 depending) of clear nail polish. worked on mine and they don't come off unless i pull them off. the mirco missiles falling out....well its just the 2 annoying ones on each fast pack. no biggie, try some elmers glue. it dries fast and comes off clean. if the FP(the part that holds missiles) keeps falling off, use the clear nail polish on those as well. anyone else got a problem? as far as the MPC FP's... i've never owned it but i have played with it and there no excuse for the crappy job they did. they don't stay on half the time and like someone else mentioned, it has to be glued down. the banpresto armor is superior in comparison. -
damn, so i bought this last night and i didn't even get to play. 5 friggin discs + update download + lots of vodka = fell asleep at my desk.
-
as far as the 1/48, i only buy dups of the important valks(3 1J hikarus, soon 3 1S roy) since they're kind of pricey. i don't even have all the 1/48 valks yet but all my 1/48s get displayed in battroid mode with FP's. the 1J hik and 1S roy get displayed in each mode. the 1/60s, i got atleast one of everything all of them are displayed in fighter mode w/o any FPs outside of the VE and VT. then i got 3 GBP valks, 1J, 1S, 1A, and then the 2 raus....the 1/60s rock cause its the most complete collection of all macross toys.
-
this will be one of the very few games that i'll actualy go out and buy...halflife rocks!

OMG. Bandai is rereleasing the BPX-01 Yamato.
do not disturb replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
alrighty, so i've been reading up on this and its beginning to grow on me but i still don't know if i'm going to shell out the dough for this? maybe if i find it cheap here in the states i'll pick it up, but the pre-order price and HLJ shipping(LIES) are out of hand. -
i'd probably say model guys...i mean the air brush alone is worth quite a bit plus theres models for everything macross. and don't forget, modelers don't stop themselves at macross kits only. they generally buy a bunch of other kits from cars, tanks, airplanes, battleships, etc....basically the modelers life never really ends...plus they have to keep restocking their paints and materials. the toy people have it good...outside of insane folks that have to have 5 of everything.

haha, i just watched it at my friends house yesterday.
-
You werent saying that when I wanted your 19A . hehehe, i didn't know they were selling for so little. lately i've seen them on ebay at the $80-$100 mark. oh well, i'm still looking to get rid of mine...probably for $100 now.
-

while its cool, i have no interest in paying that much for a toy thats only a foot long....its doens't have that many features either
