Gundam Plamodel Thread - II
promethuem5 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I really hate to brag, but the last thing I got from Devin (Anasazi31) before he shut down was a PG Gundam sticker sheet made into a decal sheet... the only thing I can think of is if you contact that one guy in the 'Shutting Down the Decal Business' thread and see if he'll do the same thing for you... scan the sticker sheet and make a decal sheet to print for you... you could even ask Devin if he'd be willing to release the digital master of the sheet ready for decal printing (which I know for a fact he still has) and then the other guy could jsut print it for you... Not sure how much this helps, but it's worth a shot. -
The 19 has always been my favorite, so I was psyched about the new one and sitll can't wait, but I also really do like the 1/72 line, flaws and all... so they're not going anywhere. PLUS I managed to break one of the hips of my 19 about a mnth ago, so I went out and bought all the parts for the hip ball-joint mod and did it along with some paint job details added.... looks pretty nice.... gotta post some pics still.

Sure Bond had continuity.... how did all those missions take place in the 70s with Connery and Moore and Dalton if he only just became Bond last weekend? Aside from the actors changing, it was always Bond's continuing adventures... And maybe the reason I liked the delivery of 'the line' at the end was just because I thought Craig was doing a pretty good job by the end more than some people thought...
-
Quoted for truth ^ I really liked the ending as well, when we finally get 'the line' and the much more suave Bond... and I think Craig did a pretty good job, better towards the end... the beginning sequence felt very much tacked on, and the last thrid of the movie did seem to have an LotR-esque seven-endings feel, but the open ending was incredible in the end, and really got me going for a sequel... The stuff that really bugs me are the huge holes this movie blows in the Bond continuity.... I was really hoping for a 60s Bond going into the movie, and the cell phone in the first scene totally phased me... I couldn't stand Brosnan as Bond.... Connery being my only Bond until now, and now I'm confused at how the continuity works out.... instead of a Bond Begins revamp, couldn't we have just cut off Bond after Goldeneye, do this movie and it's likely feeling sequel as prequils, and then maybe get into new stuff? I'm just really kinda turned off by what this movie did to Bond canon, even tho it was an awesomely fun Bond movie.

With color, Megs looks alot better, and the spindlyness isn't nearly as bad...I just wish the scope/arm cannon wasn't so rediculously big for the proportins of the rest of the fig... -
Oh man, I'm excited to see what you come out with... once I'm not so strapped for cash I will get a set or two.... and hoefully you can make the decals for the YF-19 1/60 when it coems out with a little of Devin's help.

Quoted for truth. I use Future for every decal I apply... no questions asked it is the best. It's also good to ad Future to washes to prevent pooling and streaks because it decreases surface tension, meaning it will flow into crevices better and adhere better.

Hmmm... Megs is...okay. At least it's a real close homage to the original with better articulation and details, but the proportions still seem really off... the legs are thin and wide apart and the arm gun/scope is kinda big. Oh well, I always liked Starscream better anyways... maybe I can add real articulation to my G2 tank Megs. -

Lies! Flithy lies! -
That's always been my feeling too.... they're just the best to work with. The shoulder piece was cracked on the VF-0 and they sent me a whole new arm in less than a week.

I was gonna post the same thing.... the YF-19 was listed as imminent arrival in the latest BBTS newsletter.
-
Sunnuva.... this is gonna be done alot sooner than I expected. You sir, are a god.

Not to make the hip-jinxing any worse, but my 2nd ed. YF-19 hip did in fact snap off, but it was totally my fault, tried to force it at a slightly off angle... however, it finally gave me the motivation to try the ball jointed hop mod, the fruit of which I'll probably have pics of tomorrow... a futile effort now that the 1/60 is coming out, I know, but I wanted to finally prove to myself that I could do it. I also added much better hands to the 1/72. AND now I can't wait for the 1/60 YF-19.

Yeah, blind voting sounds like a good idea... and that trailer on the first page sounds great. Can't wait to see (or hear) more... Incidentally, where can one get your Mac0 episode'?
-
This will be difficult without pics, and frankly, they sound kickass, so go find them!

Interesting variant... In other news, does anyone know wtf is going on the the HCM Sazabi? BBTS had it listed for an October release (soon after it's domestic release) and it never arrived (whereas the Re-GZ did get stateside soon after release) and now BBTS has the preorder listed for a November release.... Im so pissed.

Those protoform images were posted a few pages back, including out of the box toy pics... pretty weak, IMO . -
As soon as I get some decals made (somewhere) I'll do mine wolfpack.... unless I go for the bunny.

Well, I fixed my Silver Eva elbow problem, and am doing the same to the neck peg, but then I accidentally popped off the handle from the clear shield (totally my own fault, but still annoying.) Fixing that right now too.

Aside from making sure all the parts snap together okay, I was meaning, do the parts line up real well, or are there alot of gaps and non-flush seam surfaces to be sanded? -

Yeha, but they probably have to have their mod checked out with some authority, so it can't be too flimsy.... I'm not sure if I'll be getting this one right away or what, but I'll certainly work to get the tip off... unless I wonder if there's a way to get someone to ship a domestic one to you from Japan without it getting checked... less than legal I know, but maybe preferable... -
Hmmm.... got my silver Eva-04 today, and everything looks great except for the fact that the elbow non-clicky joints were floppy loose out of the package... got some serious clear nailpolish drying on them right now... kinda upset. Looks great otherwise tho, except the neck peg into the body sits real loose in the body so the head falls off and the hole on the neck of the open mouth head is slightly deforemed and needs to be drilled out a bit.... not nearly as nice as my Douggy or Ingram, or evne the clear yellow Eva-00 Prototype... nice weapons now for the 00....

How's the fit on the HY2M kits? I wanna get those two at some point... yours look great. Nice show-room finish...I weather and detail mine, but the finish on yours is impressive. Can't wait to see more.
