The first ones... either the Blue 00' or 03 I think... I like Unit 04, but already have the Revoltech one, and would rather not real with trying to keep the chrome looking nice as I REALLY want a good solid Eva toy to play with constantly... the Revoltechs are great to pose, but the Eva Revoltechs aren't that much fun... I find Revoltech does the other classic mecha much better...

Hey guys, I wanted to ask the SoC gurus about the Sould of Chogokin Evas... are they worth hunting down for around 50-60 bucks a pop? For some reason I really like the look of them and want one, but want to make sure they're worth it first, because otherwise I'll just look for a Kaiyado one instead...

Well, let's see... the base color is Tamiya Dark Yellow, drybrushed with Valeijo Desert Khaki I think along with some other intermediate mixes, and the brown its are Citadel Scorched Brown drybrushed with Graveyard Earth. I use Windsor & Newton oil paints for the weathering... along with Citadel paints for the mettalics, Tamiya clears for the red and yellow lights, some miscellaneous Citadel acrylics for details like the misiles and cockpit, P3 paints Mercenary set colors for weathering (Privateer Press Paints, my new favorite for acyrlics), and all four sets of Tamiya Weathering Pigments for various dirtiying up... Berttt, the new thing I tried with the oil paints was where you dot little spots of black, brown, and yellow ochre paint all over the model , and then blend them in with clean thinner to provide some surface color variation... adds to the aged effect of the paint... I didn't do it totaly right, and ended up washing off most of the oils with thinner while doing it, but it did add some nice streaking...

gah, Armstrong's gotta make it to the final 8! -
Here's my finished brand new 1/72 Tomahawk... I went for a real weathered tank feel... and this kit was ajoy to work with.... John did an AMAZING job on it. I decided to make it fully articulated...pics of that can be seen in the What's on your Workbench thread... only thing else is the bent knee I sculpted in action on the right leg... I spent a lot of time on the paint work... tried alot of new stuff in regards to chipping (thanks HWR!) and oil paint work... I'm really happy with the results... I also did alot of detail in the cockpit, but the pics didn't come out too good, and I still need to sculpt a pilot... Let me know what you guys think! Ben Oh and, the Tiger in the last pic is for scale...

Hey, just watched the part 2 demo, and I must say I'm really impressed with what you've got so far... I've got a few constructive comments tho if you're looking for that sort of thing, and yes I realize some of this might be bc/ of YouTube... First, I love the whole helmet-effect on the voices of the pilots, but the tonal changes seemed really inconcistent... it was like each pilot line was done thru a different filter... there were a couple of the lines that sounded PERFECT from Hikaru and Max, but a couple sounded off.... if you could nail that consistent 'talking thru the helmet' bit, it would sound incredible. The lines around when Max kicks super-ass blwoing off the Zent's head are GREAT, but the scream from Hikaru and stuff right before that sound much tinnier and off... and then after Roy says 'Great job Jenius' Hikaru gets that really tinny noise back... but then when Hikaru blows up the Zent in front of the bridge and argues with Misa, it's spot on again... then the tinniness comes back for the 'He was gonna blast you' line... Second, I found Roy's first line REALLY hard to understand... I'm not sure who's VAing it, and i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings if it's someone here, but it seemed like they were trying to 'gruff up' the wrong parts of the lines.. I've always seen Roy as sounding really cocky and manly, and thought that even tho I couldn't understand the Japanese VAs, the voice tone and such for Roy was perfect... I really liked the engineers reporting that the gravity had failed... they had kinda fun voices that really stood out. Misa was really good too... I found it kinda funny how the first line she delivers to Hikaru after he nails the Zent in front of the bridge sounds so much like the HQ lines from the Terran computer in Starcraft The kid's line before the ship transforms was really well done too, and leaving the Zents lines in their language with the subs was a great move... The only other thing that stuck out was Global saying 'Fire!'... it sounded really off to me... there seemed to be a bit of a timing issue with it, but it also seemed like it just wasn't quite the right voice... the voice seemed too upbeat and just didn't have the right timbre for the line... I guess that might not be totally fair tho, as whenever I see Global deliver a line, I imagine Sean Connery from Hunt for Red October (my personal VA pick for Global ) All in all really impressive, can't wait to see (and hear!) more.

Utterly jaw dropping... the paint is solid, no problems there, and the fact that you made it (along with WHAT you amde it out of) is really something to be proud of...

Huh, neither did I... that's actually pretty cool! -
70 shipped is still too steep... I love mine, but still wouldn't feel good paying more than 50 shipped... it's just not THAT good.... but it IS a really fun toy if you know how to handle it.

Ive seen empty boxes and blisters on the shelves... I always assumed that was part of the twisty ties' purpose, it's just that they're TOO damn hard to ever remove... -
I like the tv series far more for the plot and such... much more fun overall, and the end stuff is really good. DYRL? has some of the most awesome mecha battles and animation ever, but the modified plotline totally threw me off and bored me to tears... truth be told, I just pop in DYRL to watch the beginning battle, and then skip ahead to the end...

Alright...one real question. Which Legioss would this Tread work with? The new Toynami one, or the old Imai kit?

I just finished watching Mospeada (finally!) and I must admit, I really want a Tlead now... i just wish it would come out, even if it was flawed... I've grown really attatched to my MPC Legioss (even tho it needs new hands!)... what's wrong with me? -

Funny idea... I want to see it come down to Roy, Armstrong from FMA, and Char Aznable... -
I feel the same way... the DYRL and Zero Fokker has alot of bravado and ultra-manliness, which the ADV VA lacks... a shame too, because for the time he's around, Roy is one of the most charismatic characters in the show... I do like Hikaru tho... I thought that VA was great as Ed Elric, and I think it works here too I'm intersted to see how he handles late series Hikaru tho, as he matures and grows up ALOT during the series after becomming Skull Leader...

It'd be a great idea, but we've already seen HG hunt down garage kit makers whereas Macross stuff makes it thru...

I haven't seen the comments, jenius, but it seems like even with the RT crowd, it could be willing to boil down not so much to how much are you willing to pay for a good toy of your franchise love, but how much are you willing to pay for a flawed toy? If the MPCs were perfect, would they still have trouble with the $80 price point? -
And remember, past a certain small scale point (usually after 1/72 i think) it equals no chips bc/ they would be unrealistic in scale... JFGuard, don't you just love those old Dougram kits? That one big chunk in the thigh of yours is a bit much, but the rest of the battle damage looks awesome! Can't wait to see your Tomahawk painted... the dulloat after finishing mine is drying right now, all that's left is the light lenses...
