I always thought Xcom was fun and all, but I couldn't play the missions for crap... I loved doing the base building and patrolling and such, but as soon as I started ground fights, I lost so badly... I could never get the tactical parts down... -

Isn't this the game that is basically an exact remake of Xcom with 3d graphics? CGW/GFW magazine mentioned one not that long ago, but I think it was a free one which was a direct remake wtih new graphics of Xcom... -
I can't see why they would be... if I'm not mistaken that part is the same color on both the oA and 0S and the part is identical...

Good use of oral hygene products you probably could have gotten away with a small slip of paper or tape, or the old standby clear nail polish as well... I loved LRS as well... it was as good of quality as the best bits from the series, and has some of the coolest of the designs. I didn't realize the BS was a mass produced item until that either, but it's still a slick design.

I love my MP SS... it's got goot posability, and alot of character, even if it is a bit of a liberal interpretation of SS... but to me it seems like a more practical realization, and it looks great on the shelf. -
Just beat GOW, and MAN were the final battles tough, but fricken awesome fun! The Kratos clones were rediculous, and the final fight with Ares was crazy... The Challange of the Gods levels are kinda annoying... time trial kills do nothing for me... I was really hoping for some kind of escalating last man standing mode with just waves of enemies to fight for as long as you last... that would be a total blast. A Boss Rush mode also would have been nice...

Interesting comparisons.... I got my Yamato Scopedog, and I love it to death... the detail is amazing, and I've had very little parts fit issues (altho I did manage to put a slight crack on the one shoulder socket, but even that hasn't made the arm fall off easily.) Once I got the Round Mover set with the extra joint block parts, it stands alright, but I'll admit it's not perfect. I'm definetaly going to get at least one vs. Yamato Scopedog for the RSC weapons and such... and maybe even a Brutishdog, but all this talk about the DMZ stuff has gotten me interested. I see the Yamato VOTOMS stuff just like Yamato valks... playable models, rather than straight up toys. I am going to eventually paint and detail my Yamato Scopedog(s), and am looking forward to it once I get an airbrush... however, I wouldn't mind having a large playable figure still... the MF figure is great and alot of fun, but not very big. If the DMZ line comes out with a Turbo Custom, I'd probably cave real fast and pick it up... even tho I hate Microman figures to death. If the RSC DMZ figure beats the Yamato one out, I might buy that first and then get the Yamato one... the thing is I don't want another plain Scopedog, and I'm not a big Strikedog fan...

I picked up GOW about a month ago... finally got to Ares last night, and whooboy is he a tank. Died about 6 times, but as it was late at night, I gave up for the night... can't wait to get back into the thick tonight... I think that the fighting and stuff in GOW is absolutely amazing, and the whole game plays with such a badass swagger that I love it, but I must admit, some of the more obnoxious platformer sections did try my patience... the worst offender was what I spent about an hour on last night... the spinning columns with the baldes on them at the end of you trip thro Hades... those two columns were so goddamn frustrating, but at least you go straight to the good stuff afterwards. I don't see myself playing thru again on God Mode (Im not a huge fan of replaying games for a few unlockable movies, but I did play thru Syphon Filter on the PSP about a zillion times for all the weapons and levels.) So I'll probably just watch Fate of the Titan and whatnot on Youtube once I'm done with Ares... anyone got any tips for him?

Graham, I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy with the Yamato, but, if you are looking to sell them... *cough*me!*cough*

Knight you lucky bastard.... I like that grey armor shot alot... has the homebrewed look that's really important for an actual live action grey armor... cool...

Altho I suppose if you broke yours, a resin replacement is better than nothing, but how durable is your resin? Most resin is relatively brittle... and brittle is the last thing that part needs to be...

I've noticed that as well... 1/60 happens to be a nice large, but not ridiculously so, size for Macross stuff, but 1/60 is such an offbeat scale... However, 1/25 Destroids would be amazing... every modeler should have one for scale reference alone...

Model kit commission cost question for 1/72 Arii GBP armor
promethuem5 replied to a topic in Model kits
Honestly, it would depend on just how much work was necessary... whoever was willing to do such a mod would probably want to handle the parts first and get some kind of rough idea what it would take... -
Yamato 1/60 scale YF-19 Fix/Modification Thread
promethuem5 replied to Wicked Ace's topic in The Workshop!
I just threw a big drop of clear nail polish in both groves on the right shoulder that the flap sits in... works fine now. -
1/48 Destroids would be amazing... but I'd also settle for 1/60...

Stupendous work so far... the Humor section is great, and it's to finally have Egan-Loo-esque fluff WITH pictures
-
Very cool mpchi! Looks like you've now got an excelently balancing toy there... Is that only the stock weathering on the toy tho? It looks much nicer in your pictures than in other shots I'ev seen.... And for people interested in the Commando Vorct stuff, the February issue of Hobby Japan had some amazing 1/24 sclae plastic model conversions of the team Scopeys... very nice work there. The MF Vorct figures look arlgiht, but again, still have ginormous heads... stinks about the 1/48 ones being resin kits... I figured they were retooled Actic Gear figures being released by a subsidary if Takara...

I wish VOTOMS would get a bigger following as well... Hobby Japan magazine always has a large dedicated VOTOMS section, always with some fantatic models, but I wish there were more grouped fans... I would love to find a VOTOMSWorld...

I know, and that's why I don't like or own a G1 Megs toy either... I agree with your appraisal of the three tho... but I still love them. -

The thing that I really don't like about MP Megs and part of what is the real dealbreaker for me in robot mode at least is how high the arm cannon sits bc/ of the scope mounting piece. If it moved down so the gun sat flush on Meg's arm, it'd look much better. -
I assume this is probably the last time this will be avaliable? Dammnit, I've GOT to find the funds to buy one, evne if all I do is put it in storage until after college

Graham, I don't own the red and green Calamity Dogs, but my favorite picture site has some great shots: http://pony-hp3.web.infoseek.co.jp/CALAMITY-RG.htm Judging by the pics, Id say they are either Die-Cast or PVC bc/ they look similar to both the CMs Death Messenger build and the MF builds...

OOooohhh.... new Bandai VOTOMS model? Color me excited. There's a quick video bit on YouTube by the collectionDX guy comparing the 1st Yamato Scopey to the later one, and it's rock solid and supports itself well.
