Classic Battletech.
promethuem5 replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmmm.... I've been doing CBT forever, and read alot of the books (esp. the JF Trilogy and the entire FedCom Civil War set) and I don't remember anything like this... I'd call it out as stupid if I ran into it too. CBT's just been totally wonky and disorganized lately anyways... aside from how nice looking a book Total Warfare was, the rest of the support seems to be in shambles... -

I'm interested to see this... I'm also glad in finally learning I wasn't crazy thinking there were multiple other related versions of the story... I always here names like Omega Man and Last Man on Earth thrown about without actually knowing that much about them...
-
Cool.... no rush... like I said before, I'll be down around Pittsfield MA all summer and would love to pick one up when they are ready...
-
Ha, yeah, me too... they're a ways off and currently in storage bc/ I'm working at a summer camp for the summer and then off to college... And yeah, the Tamiya weathering sets are awesome and really versatile... alot of people don't like them for their consistency compared to normal weathering pigments, but for beginners, I think they are much better... I use some dry pigments for dirt and such now, but I still like to use the Tamiya sets for things like barrel scorching and some dirt effects... alot of people don't like them, but really, they do have a specific place in modelling... EDIT: They're also some Tamiya weathering sticks I think, and I think those have a slightly thicker almost putty or lipstick like consistency, but I've never used them and know nothing about them...

Awesome... Maybe it;s too early to ask, but when does that mean 2nd run models should be available?

Please please please an we get those scans???

I applied crushed up black, brown, and rust colored pastels with a brush... they were art pastels I cannibalized, so they didn't stick that well, and took alot of work to get on the toy. I clear coated the whole thing afterwards to get it all to stay... since doing this, I've found the Tamiya weathering sets, which are weathering stuff about the consistency of women's eye-shadow and come with a brush and spongey applicator... they are amazing and work so much better... there are also weathering pigments you can buy, but they are a bit more advanced to use and work best with some thinner washes and alot of finesse, and don't clearcoat well... the Tamiya sets are great for beginners... just grab yourself a whole bunch extra cheap women's spongey tipped makeup applicators... the rest of the custom was basically just drybrushing the edges of the armor, panel lining, and decaling with some of Anasazi's wonderful decals... jsut make sure if you are going to apply waterslide decals that you gloss coat the toy/model first and have some decal setting/softening solution... basically a slightly caustic solution that will soften the decal so it snuggles down for that painted on look. If you have any more specific questions I'll gladly help you out... I've got three Yamato Scopedogs and have big plans to take them apart, remove any mold seams, add a cast metal texture to heavy parts like the shoulders, add weld seams where appropriate, and repaint them completely someday when I get an airbrush... and weather the crap out them. I've got one Scopedog decal sheet Anasazi made me ages ago, and am still looking where to get more made, bc/ I need decals made for all the weapons sets, a second SD, and a Brutishdog... EDIT: Sorry for thje rambling, unstructured help... I'm suuuper sick and my head feels like its full of fluff.

Heeeyyyy... you might be on to something... if the 1/18 line expands to the subjects in the 1/48 line, that would be amazing!

Sounds awesome... still too small and fiddly for me, but I'm glad it's a step up from the old AGs.

13" with speech!? I'm so in.... I've got the Kratos figure with the flaming Blades of Athena figure, and it's a gorgeous piece, but not greatly built... the flaming parts are flimsy and don't stay on very well, and the figure has terrible soft ankles and hands that don't support well... but it LOOKS great! Esp. alongside Master Chief and Solid Snake... and with the same company coming out with Castlevania figures soon, my fav. video game franchises will all have figures (GoW, MGS, and Castl.)

Starscream? -
The idea of a big Kratos model is awesome, but I think the pose and face sculpt on that one are a bit off... it looks pretty good, but not must-buy great for some reason.

F*cking Christ... I'm the biggest Yamato NOT-Hater here, and I'm not paying $40 for replacement shoulders... I'll figure out a way to fix them myself for that price.

That's always been my problem with main-line transformers nowadays... the sculpts are usually really nice, but Hasbro is the stingiest company with finishing and paint apps I've ever seen... and the movie toys are no exception. -
Hmmm... triple post I guess, but here's some new pics... And why yes, I AM happy with my BrutishDog purchase!

Riding the Pearl along the beach would have been much better if they had finished the nod with his 'Captain Jack Sparrow' line... that was sorta how I felt throughout the whole movie... it had lots of almost awesome stuff, but I felt like everytime they tried to throw in an awesome swagger-ey bit like in the other two, they never quite got there with the delivery...

Went to Target today... they had a sh!tload of Protoform TFs still, one StarScream, two IronHides, a couple Robo-vision Primes (which I almost bought but then decided I did not need.) They also had the RealGear figures, which my little brother got all 6 of, the Cyber-Stompers, and all the stupider tie-in toys, along with all the movie tie-in repaints. No Jazz or the other larger figures (except one Leader Prime)... the one thing I did buy was the plush Prime, which is awesome. They had BB as well, and it's a nice plush toy, but I like Prime more... just wish his legs were slightly longer, but the transformation works great and it's adorable. -
I just posted my custom GBP in the toy thread...

I got my Ghost today... it fits on pretty nice and looks great... now if I could just finally get new shoulders for my poor 0A...
-
Yeah, SoC IronGear is gonna be a moose of a figure... but the HLJ preorder was actually less expensive than Ideon I think...

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - <<Season 1>>
promethuem5 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There was a picture of the Unicorn Gundam lineart not too long ago with the serial number being RX-00 or something... so I wonder if this isn't Unicron turned into an anime after all? -
Yeah, two very good points... Cap isn't doing toy mods anymore, and messing with HG's Robotech is much riskier than messing with Macross...
-
Batou, that's funny because last month, Bank of America did the same thing to me... I had made like 4 HLJ orders in the past month and BoA decided the third in the set was suspicious so we had to call those morons and fix it...
