Still not a Volkswagen, but very impressive all the same...

Sorry.. it's late, and the idea of arguing over the main color of bots that don't have pretty much any defining body structures just seems silly...

The computer and electronics super geek superthread...

Thing is there's not enough room in the case for a different on-the card GPU cooling solution, so an actual case-fan and increased GPU fan-speeds are going to have to suffice... with the fan set to 75% with RivaTuner today I did manage to play Crysis for a good long time without any problems, so I figure an actual case-fan should help enough, seeing as the problem clearly isn't a gigantic one... more like it just reaches unacceptable temps bc/ of the cramped circulation-less interior of the case. -
You shoulda splurged for some turned aluminum Adler's Nest engine nozzles ... seriously tho, those things are amazing. Can't wait to see how it looks with some newer verniers and details either way... and then paint!

I really don't need another 51 unless it's a Dobber scheme... I'm not even that big of a fan of the Nora scheme... I'll just stick to the sleek and scary Ivanov, and the realistic and plausible Dobber scheme if it comes out.

So, the only exposure I've ever had until tonight to AppleSeed is the domestic release graphic novel version which uses screenshots from the film to make a terrible graphic novel. After seeing previews of new AppleSeed stuff, I decided to finally see the actual fil to figure out if this was any good and what the fuss is all about. So, after watching the movie and mulling it over, I still can't figure it out... how is a graphically mediocre film with a total train-wreck of a plot so popular and loved? Am I missing something here... the action is pretty much all great, and the CGI stuff looks pretty fantastic, but the over-cell-shaded 2D animation is nauseating to watch... barring the visuals, how can anyone actually like plot? With no setup or anything at the beginning of the film, pretty much everything that happens feels like it was pulled out of some writer's butt to fill another scene... Briareos and the mercenaries and Global War I can deal with... some of the Bio-roid babble is tolerable.. but then it's like 'oh yeah, and this guy JUST HAPPENS to be related to Deunenan.. and so does she, and then turns out that's not what that was, and blah blah... PS, some kind of betrayal double blind backstab nonsense... who's even watching for plot at this point anywyas?... THEN one half the government you thought was good isn't, and some other kind of nonsense... then Briareos, the ROBOT, COUGHS when he bites it the first time... and makes some truly terrible line about feeling pain but still a robot or something... just utter garbage... but then Bri happens to have given Deunan the secret to EVERYTHING by accident as a keepsake from her father who EVERY OTHER PERSON in the film either fought alongside or was created by or something... and then BATTLE PLATFORMS pop out of the ground like they've been there the whole time to do something that everyone in the film lies about for more backstabbing silliness... EDIT: I forgot the part where, the first time Deunan really talks to Bri after she ruins the training squad, there's this semi-emotional character development bit, but then D's just like 'And what's AppleSeed!?' out of nowhere... with no mention of the term at all before that in the film... furthering my theory that the film is mostly a series of decent action scenes wtih a 'make sh*t up as we go along' plot. Sorry for the rant, but I really would like to open a dialogue here where you AppleSeed fans tell me what I don't get about the movie and how it's amazing and I'm dumb. Seriously, I want to hear how this is a good film. Me, I'm going back to finishing VOTOMS...

I highly recommend the 8800GT... I bought the Asus model, and it works like a dream (Dell thermal issues aside)... I've got a crappy rest of computer (Intel Core 2 2.2gHz... 2G RAM)... and I've been playing the Bioshock demo on max settings and Crysis demo on pretty much max everything (Ultra super duper textures and models included) and it runs stupendously. After only ever having mid-range stuff (I've had a comp with a GeForce Ti4200 forever now...) I feel a little bit spoiled by the 8800GT. And for $300 and a manageable card size, you can't go wrong. -
Including the Gallant would make alot of sense... oh well...

Ah frack, I forgot about the Toynami one as well... fortunately, that one looks like a souped-up Gakken, which I probably don't need... So we still haven't seen the Beagle one, which is in the scale I am most interested...
-
So is the toy in the Beagle thread the Beagle 1/12 toy, or the MegaHouse one I'm getting ready to preorder??
-
Is that the scale of the MegaHouse figure? Are there pics of the MegaHouse figures? Assuming the ones in the Beagle thread are actually the Beagle toys, and the CMs pic two pages back is the CMs one...

The Dimension I have has the easy-remove side panel, but that didn't really help the GPU (I crashed with thermal artifacting even with it open...) and theDimension doesn't actually HAVE a fan... just some stupid giant CPU heatsink assembly that takes up more space than the hard-disks and optical drives... adding an actual case fan should alleviate the problem I'm told by ACTUALLY ADDING an airflow. -
Alright... still confused... CMs is 1/18, BEAGLE is 1/12, what is the MegaHouse one I'm about to preorder...
-
Edited my initial post about the price... I cannot keep track of how many different RideArmor toys are coming out... MegaHouse is 1/12 scale and the above preorders... CMs Corp is 1/18, not as hot looking, and price unannounced, right?... then where the heck does the Beagle toy fit in? We really need three proper threads where we news for each company's toy seperate... I will go preorder the MegaHouse toys right now.

Just bought an 80mm case fan for a few bucks... hopefully I can turn down the GPU fan with this installed... -
$50!? Wow... that seems a tad high based on the pics on the previous page... I will wait for reviews and such... not gonna pay 50 based on that proto pic... for $50 I'd rather have a 1/12 scale fig. Erm... nvm, I was thinking this was the CMs Corp figure, which I would NOT pay $50 for... the MegaHouse on the otherhand, looks df. worth the money.

Dimension EDIT: Using RivaTweak to put the fan-speed to 75% seems to have helped... played Crysis for almost 45 minutes with no incident, but I fear forcing the fan to something it wasn't set for is less than optimal? -

So, I got a new 8800GT GPU last weekend... and I was playing the Crysis demo on my comp with just about all max settings, and it's amazing, but now my it's overheating (artifacted to lock up in BioShock demo as well)... I'm looking into a few things (increasing fan speed, adding a casefan on the back) but the thing is the air circulation right now is awful bc/ it's a Dell... just looking for some more tips and whatnot to relieve this problem so I can get back to the bleeding edge of graphics. -
I'm seriously thinking about trying to get a MPC Megs when it's reissues... I know it got somewhat mixed reviews originally... I don't care about the extra accessories bc/ I don't have the nostologia of having a G1 Megs as a kid, just want the figure to go with my other MPs... (the only Megs I actually have is the G2 Big Green Tank, which is my favorite Megs)... the one thing that bugs me is how ridiculously sized the Fusion Cannon ends up being, and mostly how far off the arm it sticks... it looks awkward.

I really really want SS to get to Massachuesettes already...

HS basically tells you to button mash... I usually hit a rhythm btw/ heavy and normal attacks, with the occasional controller wag thrown in for good measure, focusing more on heavy attacks usually... I haven't played on Hell Mode tho, so maybe that's not good enough there... -
You guys really think a Prime Megs two back would be cheap? Complete MP Prime w/ Trailer (MP-5? 6? I don't even know...) is like 200 last I checked, Megs is like a hundred, and who knows how much an official Megs accessory set would be... maybe 3-hundred total?... the saddest part is it could probably fit in one of the larger Yamato boxes and contain WAY more than Yamato fits in one of those...
-
I was kinda thinking the same thing... there've been alot of shots lately of the PS2 game coming out, and then you'll see Pailsen files image, and they can be tough to tell apart... still, provided the story is good I can live with it... I've got one disk left of the original series, maybe I'll finish it off this weekend. In other news, am I the only one who didn't know anything about this 1/6 Scale Scopedog coming out!?
