Oh, he could be talking about the alt HotRod, my mistake...

The RID/CR Car Bros. are super awesome IMO... Prowl(Mach Alert) is def. the best of the bunch, but I also personally LOVE good kibble, so the other two score top marks in my book... SideBurn(SpeedBreaker) is the hardest to transform and probably the weakest of the bunch, but he's still a great looking figure, and X-Brawn(Wilderide) is awesome. If you don't own them I'd highly recommend you fix that.

Oh my... I'm not thrilled by the headsculpt, but otherwise, that IS a great fig.

Aside from basing, I just finished this little guy (included with the quick write-up I did for posting it other places): Hi all! Let me start by saying that this is the first mini I have painted in a LOOOONG time... I've been off in the scale model world knocking out resin mecha kits and 35th scale tanks, but this weekend was the first free I've had in a while at college, so I decided to tackle a small project I brought with me. This little guy is a Union soldier from the now-defunct Vor The Maelstrom... it's a one-piece mini with a decent sculpt, that while not amazing, was alot of fun to paint. It's just a standard grunt fig, and IMO it's a much nicer looking line-trooper than say, Games Workshop Inperial Guardsmen... it's got a nice gritty utilitarian feel with lots of packs and pouches. I got a bunch of these guys along with two Ares power suits for cheap at my LGS ages ago, and I think as a side project for fun I'll finish the group in this scheme, with markings and such once the whole group is done. The paint scheme and color palette is inspired by modern USMC outfits, minus the digi-camo obviously. Lots of different tans and buffs and beiges, along with different varieties of khakis and field-green... Technique-wise, I tried something radically different here... I used no inks. In the past, I've been semi-decent and shading and highlighting with no blending, but I would still always end up using inks to cheat at the end for more shading and flattening, and am never really satisfied with the results. So, for this mini I used an initial light wash over the primer coat to see details, and then went from there with actual layered highlights and shadows (with one initial light paint-wash over the base-colors for guidance). I still cannot blend, but I did alot of layering, and while the pictures (not from a great camera or the right lens) aren't very flattering, I think the figure looks good in person, but I'd like to here some comments.

I like everything about Classics Jetfire except the over-sized helmet-head.

The computer and electronics super geek superthread...

The GT is very nice, but mine does run hot (to the point of being a problem), right about what az said... it'll jump up to around 70+ in intensive games (Crysis), but it works great otherwise, and since I was cramming into my Dell, a single-slot was the only option, and the cooling problems are partially my fault (Dell cases have ZERO circulation... I added a super quiet fan, but the air-flow is still not enough and I run into over-heating crashes.) -
 Those sure are pretty... keep up the great work!
-
They both look pretty solid... (the fact that Iron Man has no need for a jet not-withstanding)...
-
Agreed... now that we have Galvatron and Scourge (which I still somehow don't own), we NEED a G1 Cyclonus update...
-
GALVATRON TURNS INTO A MERKAVA!!! Oh man, Galvatron for the effin' win... I officially cannot wait.
-
The Classics photos look great, but am I the only one to find it funny that the only mis-transformed fig now is the old fig repaint? What's up with the two repaints at the end? Is that Blaster and someone else? I'm not huge fans of either of those molds...
-
Sharper wing cut-outs in the wing-tip edge of the vertical stabilizers (the up and down blue fins)...
-
I've yet to own a HM toy, as I'm not a huge fan of most of them, but I have been on the prowl for a Hardhead lately for some reason (I only really like the larger HMs with the good posable Head figs... the later smaller ones have cheesier head figures.)
-
I noticed the Headmaster thing too... I've only finally started really getting into the later run G1 stuff and never really 'got' Headmasters and the other -Masters before now (basically, before getting God Ginrai and a Maximus fig), but seeing new HMs would be amazing!
-
The Blue Eva 00 is usually denoted 00' bc/ it had no official separate designation, so it;s probably just a Blue SPEC.
-
Leader BH is looking amazing... hopefully it is an in-show upgrade.

I really want to find a red repro Photon Rifle for my BM (the big rifle)... I've seen repros of the double-gun, but I don't really like how that gun looks...
-
Speaking of City figures... just won a Brave Maximus on ebay... my first Maximus figure and I'm super psyched! Mid-term vacation can't come soon enough! That also means that once the Encore Omega Supreme comes out, I'll have the big three parts for Autobot City... maybe I'll make my Spring hunt be for the big blocky Micromaster fort guy.
-
I can do with smaller city/fort figures, but I'd still like a new one all the same...
-
I dig. On a side note, am I the only who wants to see more 'play-set' Transformers? I don't know but all of my favorite TFs are ones with base modes that other figures can interact with (G1 Metroplex, SGMF God Ginrai set, G1 Ironhide/Ratchet, G1 Prime, Fort Max...)? My real collecting goal really is going to end up being all of the G1 city/fortress figures.

1:1 VOTOMS Brutishdog in Sheet Steel - For Real!
promethuem5 replied to MechTech's topic in The Workshop!
Always love seeing those pics, but this is soooooo old now -
I don't really have a problem with Powerglide's new duds... the engines impart kinda a Gundam-y look, which is alright. The only thing that bugs me is that his arms aren't quite long enough to be proportional (altho, if I was concerned about proportions, I probably wouldn't be a TF collector anyway ) Got my reissue God Ginrai (US PM Prime w/ Apex Armor) set today and it is totally swank... Ginrai's got one of the best trailer-base modes of any Prime design... I just gotta get a couple more Powermasters to hang out at the base and keep him company (I'm trying to find Slapdash and Getaway especially).

Aoshima Variable 1/48 Legioss for 2007
promethuem5 replied to Save's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's really upsetting, bc/ I do try and like the MPC toy overall, and I love the leg improvements on the Aoshima, but it's still just too much of a gamble to get a good specimen out of either product...
