Gundam Plamodel Thread - II
promethuem5 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hmm... I might actually pick up a Tieren in 1/100... it's the only design from 00 that I like, and'll be my first new kit since the Zaku II v2. -
I'm pretty satisfied with how the MH Ride Armor connects after transforming it again last night... I'm trying to figure out what it'll take to make some kind of clip-on heel spur to fix the balance issue even for a normal person figure there in reality isn't quite enough heel, and this problem is way compounded by the armor... I can get it into a standing pose or two, but they've all got to have at least some lean to shift the weight enough... the figure is really incredible and fun, but just needs some more footprint.
-
The MH are around the same size as Revoltech, but we've never gotten any cool PVC armored figures before... a RT fig of the guy in armored mode would be all kinds of win. misteryno, there really isn't much more support than the white things holding the armor on... it's not a huge issue, but it could be a bit more secure... if the bit on the engine mated up with the hole in the back better it would help alot... I wouldn't mind if the chest parts locked to the center bit like they do on the Gakken either, but that's a relaly minor nitpick. I'm starting to wish I had both Stick and Ray sent to me at school instead of just Stick as I can't stop fiddling with the toy in either mode and can't decide how to leave it...
-
Yeah, sliding the engine back into the back of the bike is the toughest part of the whole transformation.
-
Looks like the transformation is mostly a combination of the YF-19 and SV-51... I like it.
-
A 1/60 Regult would cost a fortune... it's taller that the valks (around as tall as the 19 and 0 and SV-51 IRC) and waaaaay bulkier... couple that with the fact that Yamato would engineer in alot of details in order to sell it, and we could easily be looking at a $300 non-variable toy.

I'm really enjoying playing with the rider figs actually... right now Stick is firing from cover behind his overturned bike and looks great doing it. I'm torn as to whether I want weather and detail this fig now, or wait to see if anyone can find a hi-res scan of the stickers first so I can make some decals...
-
I've had problems with Hasegawa decals and setting solutions before... I use Poly softeners brand, but they are effectively the same stuff, and when I applied it to the decals on my YF-19, some of the decals completely curled and up melted... you could try applying a little more and re-softening it and seeing if they flatten out more...

Awww, the gunmetal on the bundle PSP is so lame compared to the crazy color of the standard one... oh well, at least it's different. My goal for this weekend is to finally finish MGS2 so I can finally start 3.

Yes, the two part waste can be popped right off... there's poly-caps in both joints, so they won't loosen or become damaged, and the clear nail-polish on the ball won't affect anything. And honestly, aside from the waist, I've got no loose joints on mine... the only thing stopping it from standing upright is balance (altho I have gotten it to stay in a few standing poses).
-
Shiny plastic??? Blech!! The CMs figure has weird arms with the double elbow shoe-horned in there in too small an area, making it look weird and like he;s got a joint in the middle of his upper arm.
-
Huh... sucks that you guys are getting lemons from MH... I'm in love with my Stick and have no problems (besides needing to tighten the waist w/ nail-polish.)
-
I really would have loved if a few more markings were printed on... the bike not even saying S. Bernard on the side is just lame...
-
Busou Shinki... Does anyone know about it?

If you search for it, I'm pretty sure we had a big Shiniki super thread a while back... that might have some answers for you. -
You know what just occurred to me? It'd be bat-f*ing awesome if Bandai made a Dougram toy or two in the SoC line...they can do obscure Xabungle stuff, so why not FotS:Dougram???
-
OPEN!!! Unless you're gonna resell it later, having a sealed toy is boring and worthless.
-
Very long time. I've got a pretty confident feeling about this toy... tfed it for the second time today back to bike mode, and it's pretty intuitive just like the large Gakken... nothing feels delicate.
-
Great pics... love the GBPs, and I think I might steal your MkII paintscheme...
-
Makes sense... now to know if the paint will match with the MPC or the Aoshima Legioss at all...
-
I have a feeling the best move will be to wait until the all plastic version comes out... the toy's biggest issues from what I've heard is it's inability to suppport all the die-cast weight... I'm probably going to get a plastic one myself.

The other thing is that when you have a MH in your hands, you realize just how much the matte-finish improves the look of the toy... the whole thing looks painted even tho it's not and gives of the veneer of a clean-finished model...
-
Okay, based on those pics, I will admit that I think the back of the cycle needs to tuck in more in Ride Armor mode on the MegaHouse... there's just no way to do that bc/ of thow they did the engine folding away...
-
I'm thinking some kind of line-art inaccurate heel-spurs are really necessary to balance the design... even the large Gakken tips backwards.
-
Got my MH... overall I'm hooked. The toy has a few niggling flaws... the connection of the armor to the torso is not amazing... the waist needs some nail-polish tightening in order to be stable with the armor on, and there is tragically not any room in the legs and feet to add weight for balance... However, I'm super impressed with the figure overall... a really great decision they made IMO was to make alot of the moving parts mounted with some poly-cap like material, so it is more durable and ha smoother motion... the Ride Armor design has lots of small parts to breka, so making these parts out of a slightly pliable material is def. a plus. The finish of the figure is great looking as well... I think I'm going to add some weathering and detailing to it to relaly round out the package...

Hmm.. the Beagle CAD looks good overall, but yeah, the feet are too small... looks goofy.
