    Began watching Aura Battler Dunbine a few days ago and had some difficulties to enter in it at first but I'm now 10 eps in and it has become slightly better. Gives me the feeling it is some sort of prototype for Zeta Gundam and maybe an important evolution in Tomino's style of stories and directing –need to see more to be sure...

    I don't have any real issue with the actor, but the movie itself looks like full of SPFX and without any soul: it seems to be just the generic heroic fantasy movie – Conan deserves more...

    That's a retcon from 1983; when the character was created in 1962, these origins weren't taken into account.

    I didn't watch it of course, but from what I've read so far, I'm rather happy they chose to remain faithful to the original character, and I mean the mythological god instead of the comics super hero: in the nordic classic tales, Thor is indeed a rather violent, stubborn and greedy character, far from the "ideal/knight-esque" man seen in the Marvel comics –thus, it makes sense to have him "punished" by Odin in order to teach him a bit of humility...

    It may be welcome to give a look to previous AU series before (including W, yeah, I know, it sucks terribly...), in order to get the "right" feeling: Turn A is more or less the end of the Gundam saga and it somewhat implies that all Gundam shows actually happen in the same universe, at least for the series broadcasted before Turn A, therefore it may be a good thing to have a rather precise idea of what these "previous" stories are about –though it isn't absolutely necessary... Btw, did I tell you that G is great? Watch it immediately.

    Watched the fist ep of Deadman Wonderland yesterday: it could have potential but was far much over the top to be able to suspend disbelief... Though, it is intriguing, so I may change my mind varying with the opinions I'll hear.

    Began watching Xabungle yesterday: 5 eps so far and it's really an interesting and original show when put back in the context of the epoch; eager to see more tonight...

    Watched the first two eps of Tiger & Bunny yesterday –they're available for free in my country as streaming, as will be the rest of the show– and I really liked them: it's an interesting take on the super hero genre because, here, it meets real TV –and it's very funny to see super heroes running around with sponsors logos on their costume or having to wait the commercials before making their final move against the bad guys Give it a try, you'll not be disappointed

    I'm far from being a Valve fan, and I actually thinks that both HL are way overated, but Portal remains one of my best gaming experience so far: the second episode is therefore on my "to get" list, but not immediately though –I still have a lot of games to play in the meanwhile...

    X owns: watch it immediately. Turn A is the only masterpiece I know, all genre and media considered: watch it immediately.

    I heard some persistent rumors that Tomino wanted to include Ideon in Turn A with all the other Gundam series, but no serious/verifiable sources confirmed this. On the other hand, sources are scarce... There is three Cobra the Animation actually: Cobra the Animation: The Psychogun is from 2008 (I assume it's the one you watched), Cobra the Animation: Time Drive is from 2009 and Cobra the Animation, all short, is from 2010 –it's this last one which is the most faithful to the original TV series... Edit: speaking of this one, its director has just passed away...

    The latest OVA from 2010, Cobra The Animation, is really good compared to Time Drive and The Psychogun, though not as much as the old TV show.

    That was the synopsis of one of the prequel movies, yes, but the original book by Pierre Boule doesn't say anything on this point because the story of the novel actually happens onto another planet.

    All the more as serious scientists would simply sterilize such subjects, precisely to avoid getting any troubles in case the experiment goes wrong. The original prequel was more interesting IMO, and more believable...

    Frankly, I don't think so, at least on the Earth part: making it uninhabitable for mankind was a way to materialize his father's dream of contolism –but this just underlines more his "lost child" psyche: he doesn't really want to materialize his father's dream, but instead become closer to him through materializing it... His rivalry with Amuro goes into a similar way too: his urge to defeat the Gundam looks like a child's "game" of proving who's the best –although there was also a need of destroying this weapon which was a threat to Zeon and therefore his own schemes so it is discussable... And then there was the "incident" with Lalah which triggered the vow of revenge.

    I completely agree here: Char is not a hero strictly speaking, but rather a complex character whose motivations reflect a rather insane mind –i.e. a distorted childhood. One shouldn't forget that this particular character has always been told by Tomino only: on many aspects, Char is his picture into the mirror –I remember an interview of Tomino where he said he almost commited a murder once: he actually is a very violent man, like Char is... The various TV series don't really insist on this point, contrarily to Tomino's novel, but Char has always been educated by his foster father as a way of putting back on its feet the original Republic of Zeon which was founded by his late father: such education is more than enough to drive anyone crazy; also, he has been a boy who lost his father at a very young age and probably still deeply regrets him –but it's rather common for mecha pilots to have issues with their picture of the father, and for being a writer Tomino probably has his personal troubles with his own picture of the father too. For all these reasons, I tend to consider Char as being one of the many dark sides of the Tomino from a particular period –the Tomino who periodically suffered of depressions and used animes directing as some sort of catharsis... There would be a lot of things to say on this subject actually: it really is far more complex than it shows.

    For a space opera, it certainly is decent, yes, and maybe more according to tastes and all this stuff, but comparing it to LoGH is beyond reason: CotS is a funny and entertaining show with some rather unusual characters and a good directing, but it's nowhere near the epicness and the scale of LoGH...

    Finished watching Daitarn 3 yesterday and came to the conclusion that it was more than an humoristic show but rather a parody of the super robot genre, and even maybe a satire. While I'm at it, if parodies are demonstration of love and proof of admiration, at least in some ways, then Tomino shouldn't be considered as a super robot hater IMO... I really liked it too, but found its sequel less interesting.
