Maybe a too long exposure to protoculture radiations or something makes human skin turns pink. This would explain, at least in the RT universe, why zentrans have weird skin colors sometimes...
-
Me too Actually, I thought it was an invention of RT but it was already here at the beginning...

Many thanks, peeps

Shinning tomorrows

It happens in anime too, all aliens speak Japanese 331616 This also reduces the cost of heavy make-up and/or SPFX

Nice: I heard rumors about this on 4chan, glad to get a confirmation

It's in such case that we understand why Mikimoto rules

Dan Simmons' Hyperion and its sequel is definitely one of my all-time favorite Iain M. Banks' Culture cycle (Consider Phlebas, Man of the Games, The Use of Weapons, Excession,...) is very good aswell but 'unbalanced' from one story to the other IMO Fred Saberhagen's Berserkers is pure ownage material to me Carolyn J. Cherryh also has some good things in the Chanur series but I really prefer the Alliance-Union universe, particularly Downbellow Station, Cyteen, Hunter of Worlds and Serpent's Reach Oh, and Anne McCaffrey's Pern world is an enchantment, but I really love The Ship who Sang too There's so much more: I just don't remember all of them...

Then the definition of this word is simply different in your country than in mine -

Actually, a republic is simply any form of government that isn't a monarchy. 326399 No From my dictionnary (translated from french, passages between brackets are personnal additions): 'a republic is a form of government where power is not detained by only one person (like in dictatorship or in tyranny), and the role of the ruler is not hereditary (monarchy/despotism)' /end dictionnary rant Dictatorship is a form of government foregone by the law/constitution of the country: during a period of crisis, the senat will give all powers to one person who will legally become dictator. This person does not have any obligation to give back this power when the crisis is solved though (what happened in Rome). Mussolinian fascism is directly inspired by the roman dictatorship system but the way Mussolini obtained it is very close to tyranny (see below...) Tyranny is a form of governement where power belongs to the leader of the organisation which did a coup d'etat and then 'stole' the power from a legal government. Saddam Hussein was a tyran Despotism is a form of governement where power is hereditary: the closest heir from the current ruler inherits power when this one passes away. It is also legal The governement system in Starship Trooper is called timarchy and appeared in Sparte during the Antiquity. The greek democracy was also very timarchist in the sense that the more military prestige you had and the more you got politic influence; money was of great help too; both of them combined could easily make of you the local ruler 'de facto' contrarily to the legal one (the senat) who was ruler in principio. The roman democracy did a good job to eliminate such issues but the dictatorship 'clause' still brought the Republic into the Empire -
The boomers from Bubblegum Crisis have very organic looks too, and don't forget GitS. Also, there's some cool organic mecha designs in the whole Gall Force series (made by the same studio than Mospeada btw...), the aliens from Gunbuster may be considered as organic mecha designs (well, they are organic looking, just dunno if they're considered as mechas actually ) and some zentran machines always looked organic to me while I'm at it

Very nice design, man: I'm ashamed of mine now You should post this on 4chan: I think a lot of the peeps in there would be interested in taking a look at it... Also, it's necessary to keep in mind that a fascist political system is supposed to be governed by only one person (Duce, Fürher, whatever...) with all-power on everything: as soon as several persons vote to choose a leader, such system ceases to be fascist to become a republic -

2 weeks is still a (very) 'short' time to write such a long novel: obviously, Heinlein had all his arguments on the subject very clear in mind since a while, and at this time he was a professional writer since about 20 years so his writing skills were already quite good aswell -
Let's face it, like for anything else 90% of animes are crap (Sturgeon's 90% Law ): my main interest is good stories as a whole and good Science-Fiction stories in particular. I find them more easily into animes than into other medias, this is why I've more anime DVD than other DVD, but another reason is that only a few animes are broadcasted in my country (except on cable or private channels that I can't afford to pay for...), therefore I've to buy the DVD to see them and though I'm rather lucky overally I had some disappointments Though I may look like some sort of geek/nerd for some because I spend a lot of time at home, I'm more a reader/writer/artist than a fat otaku sitting in front of his screen to watch the latest thing in raw format because this will make me look cool to the local anime community members (actually, I don' teven know if there's something like that in my town... ): sometimes, I bring some friends to show them Gundam or Macross stuff, or we go to the theater to see GitS2 or Howl's Moving Castle, but most of the time I go out to drink some beers like anyone else

Heard the same thing myself, not that that makes it true. But I certainly would have approved that design. 325411 It's quite possible that Heinlein approved these designs if the OAV was out in 1988 because he died the same year: he may have seen the designs during the production The book was written from November 8 to 22 of 1958, that's about 2 weeks actually (a 60 000 words novel cannot be written in a week-end...) and it was in response to a friend Heinlein had a strong discussion with concerning the necessity of a strong army and the interest of a timarchist political system (don't remember all the details right now but you can take a look on this web page for more infos): basically, Starship Trooper is Heinlein's development of all the arguments he used during this conversation. He interrupted the writing of Stranger in a Strange Land to write Starship Trooper -

I love both the book and the movie: the first made me considerably change my way of thinking about... well, a lot of things including politic, society, army or war, and the second wasn't a bad adaptation if you don't take it too much seriously IMO Here is a concept done about a decade ago for the powered armor btw... -

My feelings are very similar to Radd's, except that I kept my interest for RT until I learnt it was a 'hybrid" series, but it wasn't related to the fact that it was some sort of 'artificial' show (I learnt at the same moment that Space Pirate Captain Harlock had a similar treatment and I still like it...), it was that I learnt Macross was an independent story My very first 'steps' into the Macross universe occured when I was around 9: I saw some model box in a shop and was amazed by the designs of the Regult and the Tomahawk (the Valkyries interested me less, they didn't look 'credible' to me at this moment, and they still don't, at least not from an industrial designer viewpoint but it's an entirely different matter...): at this time, the only giant robot show I knew was UFO Robot Grandizer, broadcasted in France under the name of Goldorak, this is why I was impressed by such 'realism' and originality into Macross mecha designs. The robots looked 'real': they could move their arms and legs unlike Grandizer, you could make them pose and fight, etc,... A kid dream came true Some years later, Robotech was broadcasted and I recognized these designs: this brought me into RT and I kept looking for more during years, until I learnt the whole thing about 3 shows mixed into one in reading Protoculture Addicts then got confirmation in frequenting some anime communities in the town where I studied. Though I kept interested into RT (even if nothing new happened atm, Sentinels not being really interesting, all the more as the whole project finally collapsed...), I was from now on looking almost exclusively for Macross infos. I got a raw copy of DYRL? and an artbook on M7, saw M+ and M2, etc... Whatever some people will say, or think so loud that will all hear it, the most part of RT success come from Macross IMO: not obligatory for the relationships between characters which were a bit too much complex for the very young male audience targeted by the producers, but for its 'realistic' designs (mechas but also environments) which made the story very credible and almost contemporary (M0 success is based onto the same thing IMO...), it was something the spectators could identify, not just another space adventure like in Southern Cross or any other shows of the same period such as Captain Future in my country. We could almost say that we'll be VF or destroid pilots when we'll be adults This is why RT's still in my heart, mainly nostalgia though it has some good points here and there, even if they're ripped off from some other shows. Macross, on the other hand, is its angular stone: without it, with any other show replacing it into the time-line, even in keeping intact the whole plot for the sake of continuity, it would have been just another story, another anime. Maybe the transgenerationnal theme would have been of some influence but I have some doubts because it wasn't 'standard' enough to be easily followed by young spectators...

http://www.ozone4.com Enjoy! Btw, english is not my native language and something tells me that some of my sentences are not really well-written: could someone be kind enough to give me some pointers please? Thanks in advance Otherwise, it's my very first site in html, so please no technical geekness...
