Well, the point is that I already played the majority of PC FPS around and after this slightly disappointing Q4 I wanted to come back to a cool 'space marine basic shooter' basically I'm oldskool and I like games where you play the hero and you don't need to think too much... Also, I reall love Larry Niven's RingWorld novel and several people and reviews said the scenario in Halo is pretty cool Halo PC is available onto Amazon.fr for less than 20$: I think I'll order it in the next days... Thanks for the input, guys As a sidenote, I tried the multi yesterday and was a bit disappointed but there's only one map and the netcode is probably not as much optimized as the full version with all patchs. And I hate that when you're fragging plenty of people then suddenly a jeep comes from nowhere and crush you: this brought me out of UT2004 ONS I'm still very fond of Unreal2: XMP though but it's class-oriented 'a la' Team Fortress hence a better team play IMO

A nearby store has Halo: Combat Evolved available at a cool price and I wondered if it is worth to be grabbed... I downloaded the demo this week-end and found the SP very cool (still have to try the multi...): what about its longevity? Is it another cheaply too much short game 'a la' Unreal2/Q4 or does it provide a decent amount of fun hours? Thanks in advance for your opinions
-
This one's very good IMO: I just played the demo because my comp's too much weak to handle the engine at its full capacities but in one year or two I think I'll do the entire game Atmosphere's great and very immersive, story seems to be well developped too. Also, the MP is original in its own way. This game looks like a future classic to me As for Q4, I really enjoyed it: it's a nice sequel to Q2 IMO, a game that I really love btw, and the engine is impressive (I still have to play D3...) but the MP didn't look very promising, too much slow, lacking of visual details,... Too bad Q4 SP is very short: I finished it in a pair of days when Q2 took me several weeks but my skills probably improved since this time

Macross TvSeries end episode Orguss mech defending
Gui replied to kodiack12345's topic in Movies and TV Series
It's a well-know wink: one of the animator who worked on Macross also worked on Orguss, hence the 'crossover' but it's only some sort of private joke -
Once more or once less, what's the difference now?

The concept arts look cool: this project seems to be promising
-
Bah, another project cranked up in a rush because huge amounts of people will be idiot enough to buy the ticket to go see T4 in the theaters and watch the TV series when back home (or the other way around, whatever...) As long as these things make profits we'll simply get always more Save your money to import Macross stuff, guys...

Kaspersky's AVP remains the best protection against viruses IMO
-
Looks promising indeed. Let's hope the story will be of the same standard
-
I agree with Keith: IIs is cool as-is, an entirely new series would be more welcome IMO

Pay attention to the ReadMe included into the .zip: it provides useful links towards free base photos web sites which may be helpful

Download (225 Mgs): http://fichiers.unreal.fr/unrealengine/g-p...tex_sources.zip Sample: This package contains a set of 291 textures with multiple variations as .jpg and .tga files. Theme is mainly Metal/Indus/Science-Fiction but other tastes may be pleased too. All textures are from 512*512 to 1024*1024 and their respective opacity masks when required. You're free to modify and use them for non-commercial use only, as long as you give credit and you provide this .txt file or a download link for the original .zip file in the project's readme file. You can also distribute this package onto any media as long as you don't make any profit of it and you provide the entire archive as is (ie. with all files unmodified and the .txt one included). If you work onto an Unreal Engine-based application, an .utx file can be downloaded here (conditions of use are the same): http://fichiers.unreal.fr/unrealengine/g-pack_tex_utx.zip Enjoy!

I belive it was budget reasons: I read into an old issue of Protoculture Addicts that the first eps didn't do so well in terms of sale then the production decided to rush the ending as far as directing was concerned, hence this poor result...

Microbe and Machine Merged to Create First 'Cellborg' More...

I really like the space combat scene in the first episode: this 'introduction' to the Marduk's power seriously calms down Wendy's singing during the Moon Festival is great too: I love this song, probably because it allows Ishtar to understand what really is the love song and how much it is important for the earthlings The last song by Ishtar onto the deck of the Alus during the final battle is also amongst my favorites scenes: her voice is awesome IMO

Well, with the progress in CG, animating these 'models' is now perfectly envisageable. Far more than with traditional animation actually...

"The Plundering Fleet" and "The Lost Two Years"
Gui replied to DestroidsRage's topic in Movies and TV Series
That is the Global one. And to be honest, I found it sorta. . . pointless? 339429[/snapback] Same sentiment here: we don't learn more than what is said into the series... I expected more, and longer aswell... -
"The Plundering Fleet" and "The Lost Two Years"

Here is the .pdf for 'The Plundering Fleet' which was posted around some time ago Macross_Outside_Story___The_Plundering_Fleet.pdf -
So, basically, to quote a friend of mine: 'Robotech's background is a piece of Swiss cheese'

A great show aswell, but not really into the Mospeada-esque 'Earth is in the hands of strange unknown monsters' theme that you can find into Blue Gender IMO: this is why I recommended this last one However Now And Then, Here And There is definitely amongst my all-time favorites
-
You should take a look to Blue Gender, the TV series, not the movie, though this one has some good points aswell despite its 'Let's sell more of this show into a movie format with a different ending for the addicted fans' feeling As for the whole ruined Earth and people minds argument, I'd say that some sort of civilisation can survive to the destruction of the planet or at least its countries as political states: humans are social beings who need to be together and to help each other in order to survive. That's our instinct. Even some monkeys show similar organizations in the structure of their 'clans', at a more basic level of course but still, they are not merciless brutes who understand only pure strength: maybe it's more a matter of genes than civilisation, at least this is what some recent scientific researches tend to demonstrate and it is a very important aspect of the wild life because it implies that it's civilisation which transforms humans as beasts in bringing constant competition between them... But I digress. I agree with you that more darker aspects could have been exploited (and I do think that Houquet was raped: you don't come back after years to take revenge of a simple physical fight, even if very bad, but you come back after a so much long time to claim revenge for a flesh hurt to the soul...) but I can understand the point of view of the producers who didn't want to hurt the feelings of a young audience : the majority of movies and shows given as examples in this thread are either for older watchers and/or more recent productions therefore there isn't any real comparison possible IMO Edit: spelling thing...

Many thanks for these kind comments, guys: muchly appreciated Particularly coming from A1: I really thought he'd never come into this topic, I'm actually and very pleasantly surprised... Mr March > yes, lots of classic SF influences. Foss definitely is one of my all time favorites. Elson and McQuarrie also are artists for whom I have a lot of respect, and of course Syd Mead who was an industrial designer at the beginning, like me... Glad to see you found these influences and you liked them. Do not expect a lot of updates though: except for the 3D/Maps section which is still under contruction, this portfolio is almost 'complete' atm and I'm currently in the process to move onto a different professional field, for various reasons. I'll post a message in there when I'll add stuff anyway Thanks again, guys

This reminds me of the Bob Shaw novel 'Other Days, Other Eyes': in this story, a particular variety of glass allows to 'brake' light, allowing the viewer to see events which occured several hours, days or even weeks before It's not exactly the same thing as the one described into this article but I'm glad to see that a SF writer 'predicted' the future once again...
