Red would look kinda cool, is it normally red on both the underside of the brake and the well? What's chromate? Like a chrome bumper?

A bit of a silly question... do you wear gloves while doing the final paint job? If yes, which kind. If not, how do you keep the fingerprints from the finished kit? I were latex gloves when I'm painting, keeps the hands and the model clean. I buy them in bulk at Costco.

I haven't seen any that prevents what you describe although I know exactly what you mean. If there's a big chunk left it's time with whip out the exacto knife and the files.

Here's a part that was really fun for me on this model. Digging through my decals box to figure out what I wanted to use on this puppy. Here's a shot of the first pass, I may use more.

Got me a cheapy pair in the modelling section at longs drugs they work great. I just make sure not to cut too close to the actual piece like Mr. Cheng.

Heh, felt the same way but after my first one it turned out pretty darn good. Just take your time and think before you do anything and read up on all the techniques for a good outcome. Of course if you don't have an airbrush you pretty limited on how good it's gonna come out.

Ah, I was wondering where you lived, those are nice finds, I've got both those Macross kits and they're both really nice. The Battroid comes up quite a bit on ebay and it's not too pricey but you never see one of those VF-2SS' anywhere, I paid a lot for mine.
