Regarding question #2:
I use Tamiya clear paints, If you're painting somthing that is supposed to be a light, paint the back of the piece chrome silver first (where a lightbulb would be) then paint the clear color over that.
Here's some more pics of my work, several people have asked so here ya go.

Well the standard answer to your question is oil paints thinned with mineral spirits. It acts as a wash and fills in all the tiny panel lines just perfectly. You have to put a coat of clear gloss on first (future floor polish) let that coat dry, then apply the wash, let that dry, then wipe away the excess at a 90 degree angle to the panel line.
This only works with acrylics/non-enamel type paints.
Hey thanks for posting, that is such an awesome workspace! Man you are a building fool! Looks like you're about out of space. I bought some really cool display cases for cheap and my tiny collection of built models looks absolutely pathetic sitting inside of them.
That's awesome dude, while I've never gotten into Ma.K I think it's cool cuz it looks like very plausible/believable Sci-Fi.
Great Job!
Hey I wanna see a pic of your room with all your models on display.
OH man that looks so awesome! The chipping on the Tomahwk looks so cool. I like that white stuff that looks like it's running down areas of the Defender. What is that?
You know if the decals from a laser printer are too transparent you could always print them on white decal paper. They sell transparent and white decal paper. Also you could print the decals on the transparent sheet then when you go to cut out the decal, stack it on top of a sheet of white decal paper. You wind up with two layers of decals but it's similar to what Hasegawa does with some of the kite symbols in their Valk kits.
