I thought that the D was made out of A (new electronics, new radar, new flying command system (digital I believe), new engines, new aiming system with dual optical or somethings...) They change a few parts in the plane but not the canopy. At least I watched tons of both A and D and couldn't find any difference between the two models. Due to high cost of F14A -> D transformation, US Navy made F14B back in 1997. I don't remember the differences. try google IMO you are too deep into details

size means nothing for the price -> it's psychological. Plastic costs nothing. And it's made 100% out of plastic I am sure. No die cast in that baby. Maybe is it harder to cast the pieces - not sure though because there are not so many pieces to make because of the few hinges. It looks static. -> No engineering about the transformation. Only one or two hinges in the toy (2 for legs, 2 or 4 for arms, 3 for cockpit....) copare that to the 1/48 Yammie... LOL. 2 screws and that's it. I hope I'm wrong but this toy looks really basic and rigid. Huge price for 500 gr of plastic and 20 min of painting. They're surfing on the fashion wave with your $. That's my opinion. And still it's red and I won't buy a red one. Red one doesn't exist for me. I would have bought it green even if I don't own any 1/60 yammie.

Those toys made in China must cost 5$ to Yamato. Plastic is usually a Petroleum Waste. I don't see any relation between size and price. Look at the price of the bootlegs valkyries. they're made in China as well. Painting is more complexe. It takes time = $$$. Packaging/shipping is more expensive with size = $$$. Ah I'm loosing my time. they decided the price and no one can do anything about it.

the green QRau has been seen hundreds of hours and they don't even release that colour. they release the red/blue ones. So your blue valk is dead end. They released a unknown one though (low visibility) that every body liked because it was "so special". I don't even know if they'll release the M&M VF-1Js. I wish they release the 1D.

problems with 1J not found in 1S reissue : * gaps above air intakes * gaps between back plate and chest plate * legs tend to leave the toy in gerwalk position. They are not firmly positionned while the 1S is really good. you can check the toy, legs will stay in position BUT problems with 1S not found in 1J : *backpack latch is too tight. I feel it's going to break the back pack hinge. you know what I mean... This is not the good thread to talk about that. My conclusion : I prefer the 1S ROY reissue

I like my new 1/48 VF-1S Roy Reissue. Superior quality compared to the 1/48 VF-1J. The 1J just sux in comparison. gaps and all. The 1S reissue rules !

I wonder why Yamato wants to release toys in DYRL version. They probably think the movie is more important than the TV series. But for me, it's the opposite. I'm very disappointed by their choice. They're going to release a blue one? Is it a joke? It's seen 5 secondes in the movie while the green one is seen 10 hours. There mus be something wrong somewhere (either Yamato or your sources)

I watched too many M7 in a raw and I used to think. "Damn that song is boring. Here it comes again". So I stopped watching it, or I decreased the rate, and now I enjoy M7 more. I enjoy it so much that I want to see another ep right now ! But hey ! Vicious cycle !

VF-1J+FP ALWAYS has velcro. VF-1J alone NEVER has velcro. [EDITED] Some small problems on my reissued VF-1S Roy : - the back pack is really tight. Really hard to attach it with the latch and I KNOW that the hinge is fragile - the kite logo isnt perfectly painted. Some of the wings back lines went on the kite emblem. - a part of the leg isn't painted (the piece that permits to attach the arms) - the air brake will have to be glued (as for the VF-1J) If you want pictures of the reissue on a special part of the toy feel free to ask.

there is absolutly no difference between FP or no FP. Every thing is exactly the same. Only the center of gravity is different (it goes in the back with FP attached) and the position of the battroid is different but it is related to the legs. I didn't understand your question but I think my answer is still good hehe

I believe his VF-1A was destroy in the lift inside the Zentraedi ship. So he needed a new plane anyway. Well, they repainted the VF-1D blue for the wedding, yes. It was the first wedding between aliens and humans, and I believe that's it's not a big problem. Important "speaking" characters all have their own paint themes. It's easier for us to recognize them. If all of them had used cannon Fodder, it would have been impossible to understand the story. About the VT-1 : - the head doesn't have lasers - only some kind of radar - it doesn't have a pod gun - boosters don't contain micro-missiles - only fuel The only way to use it as a weapon is to change every thing and add missiles under the wings. I suppose you can use "super" boosters on the VT-1. But MAYBE NOT because it's completely new kind of boosters. It contains extra-fuel for extended trainings.

I believe the robot is just swiming like a human beeing! It's possible. Anyway... it's an anime ! We can also imagine that the VF-0 backpack contains small quantities of Air/Gas mixture ready to be ignited. It's a possibility. Ignition system under water is WAY more complicated than ignition system in space or atmosphere... anyway, anyway... Another question : How is it that the VF-0 is not drawing when Edgar lands on sea surface? It should draw.
