She's the celebrity flavor of the month that the media's ramming down our throat, since obviously FOX is going to milk that horrific show "The Simple Life" for all it's worth. Personally, I'd much rather see more of Drew Barrymore, but who am I? -
Ieasu Domine (whack!) dona ieas requiem....(whack!)

Yes...and no. There's no actual nudity inside anywhere, although there are articles that inform us men on the best ways to pick up women, and then how to persuade them to do (censored), (censored), (censored) and the all-important (censored!). There are also cool factoids and general men's how-to articles. In all, it's good, dirty, non-PC fun. -
Alea ieacta est.

Wow...didn't realize it came from Marcus Tullius himself...

Actually, it does mean something. That's a Latin phrase from one of the old classics, and it's been used as a placeholder by printers for centuries. Then again, it could also be lines from the Necronomicon, and that would certainly explain the recent developments concerning HG and the DYRL Superposeables

But that would be cruel and manipulative -- when do we start?

Over my dead body. As for money, I always thought that at least on board Macross there was a ration system and no real monetary system -- that they used ration points for making purchases of staple living necisities. Maybe there was some sort of money for luxury items?

One of them (don't remember which one, wanna say it's Konda, though) was played by Kent Gilbert, who's actually a minor celebrity in Japan, known for playing a lot of generic American roles in Godzilla movies and the like. As for the English in Macross, like I've said before, I really think that it's that English was the official language of the Macross universe, but that they speak in Japanese for the benefit of the audience.

I'd like to see Foundation made into a movie, but as a disjointed collection of short stories (and Asimov really didn't do movie-style action conflict: his was more cerebral at least in the books I've read of his) they might not translate well to a popcorn audience. Also any of the DiscWorld novels might make for good movies.

The thing is though, JawJaw: You're right about HG and Toynami being two seperate entities. HG gave Toynami a license to do RT toys, but Toynami also has other lines that have nothing to do with Harmony Gold. On the other hand, RT.com is an official website of HG. It is written and posted by HG staffers and anything that's put up there is with HG's blessing and permission. It's not the RT version of Macross World. That's what the shocker is. For years (and at least 500 or more thread pages on both the old and new servers) the discussion was that HG had no desire to sell Mac+ (in fact, had they not been mercilessly headhunted by Haim Saban in the early '90s -- at least according to Allan Letz -- they would have gone vigorously after Manga) and that BW would have pitched a fit if they tried after the (five-second delay) they pulled with their assertion that they own all of the Macross license.

Awwww...damn -- guess the human sacrifice is off, right? Seriously, this does seem to point in the direction of a deal being reached. Something like this would almost demand it. So, I guess all will be revealed at Anime Expo? Looks like I'd better get my drivers' license so I can get my derriere off to Anahiem this year.

While I agree and sympathize with you all (his actions are not only reprehensible but wrong-headed -- punishing everyone in the United States because of the government's actions) I cannot join the boycott. Since I already don't buy resin kits in general (I don't like resin kits because of the safety issues inherent in resin) my joining the boycott would be meaningless. In short, I was not his customer to begin with. Still, I say godspeed on this, and I hope he gets his head forcibly pulled from his rear.

Just looking at the Babelfish gibberish, I'd almost think it said that they're looking at re-instating a new parts sale scheme for the 1/48s sometime in early April. Might have to prove that your Valk is busted to get the new parts ([soup Nazi]no Max -1S for you![/soup Nazi]) though, from the looks of that "damaged/defective corespondence" bit.

There was a subbed version here in the US, IIRC, Eweilen. It was edited in a few places to remove Minmay's nudity and the two decapitations, but in a much more seamless way than in other edited versions. It was also, sadly, removed very quickly because it was released about the same time HG began their big push to claim all rights to the Macross franchise outside of Japan.

Because the Hoary Froating Head had designed the -1J variant, and he had to give it to somebody...

Maybe I'm just being dense, but I wanted to clarify about this: The alcohol/acrylic is for making a panel line wash, right? And will this damage already laid down Acrylic paint?

I was thinking of doing up a Nousdejaul-Ger Bandai kit in German Panzer colors (kind of a Luft '46 kind of thing for lack of a better term.)

Less Filling! More Die Cast! Perfect Transformation! So there.

It's OK, they were paid for... Seriously, they were probably slowly replaced over the following two-year gap between Love Drifts Away and My Album. Then they were later more quickly added on to after the capture of the factory satellite. No, it's a standalone DVD. Right. The marriage was supposed to be shown in some form in the original ending for Yasashisa Sayonara, but the end was scrapped because of budget and pacing problems, IIRC. Some apochryphal Haruhiko Mikimoto drawings of the wedding have been published, but that's it for depictions of the event itself. Two years. Hikaru is 17, and Misa is 19 at the beginning of the series.

I've never seen the original show. Was the acting that bad as well? Not terribly. William Shatner's very...staccato...acting style takes a little getting used to. But he did have a lot of acting chops before. He was actually an understudy for Christopher Plummer when they were both in a Canadian Shakespeare company in the 50s, and he made his break in two very well-done films: The Brothers Karamazov and Judgement at Nuremburg. (Doesn't excuse his screaming like a li'l girly Starfleet Cap'n in "Kingdom of the Spiders," though ) Most of the other stars of the series had long careers behind them as well: Name a western, and DeForest Kelley was probably in it, for instance.

I agree. The acting and writing stinks on ice. But at least the SFX is there

This one's cool. A group of ST fans has gotten together and is producing their own version of the 4th and 5th seasons of Star Trek: TOS. Usually, that'd mean amateur hour like that poor "Darth Maul Kid," but these guys actually put together a very reasonable replica of the sets, and have done SFX that rival the stuff done on the current official ST shows. Check it out (so long as they're at Paramount's mercy) www.5yearmission.com
