The problem is (as you've seen) that the full-on barrier is unstable and prone to explode. It may be that scientists in a Macross story as of yet untold realized that there was no way that they could make a full-around field that wouldn't detonate, causing a catastrophe like the one over Ontario.

Although to be fair, JR, I don't think that episode is going to appear on any legit Japanese DVDs if they ever come out, since Tomino himself requested the episode be removed due to the fact that he just plain didn't like it. Also, I'll bet that when or if a Japanese release happens, Bandai will release a subbed DVD release here. Since there was a fair chomping at the bit to bring MSG here after Wing's success, Bandai Nippon forced Bandai USA to not use the Japanese soundtrack to make it less attractive for re-importation.

Okay...I think this can now officially be carried over into the usual HG debate thread. It was a useful announcement, but I just know if it degenerates into a "let's bash HG for the umpteenth time without saying anything useful" thread, He Who Must Remain Nameless (i.e. BoK --dammit!) will pop up, and that'd be no fun for anyone concerned.

OK...I've tried to not pay attention to the whole thing, but this is getting ridiculous. I see the member titles as being sort of a parody of those ranking systems on other websites (which do reward for posting as much as possible, regardless of the value to discussion). The titles, IMHO, are funny (although I must say that Groo is no lackey!) and they add a bit of class to the site. NTM, I seem to remember a few titles back on the old board which caused no end of controversy because people were almost totally left to their own devices on custom titles.

Well, I finally got tired of those #$%@ hands on the 1/48 -- they don't hold the gunpod worth a darn. So, I ended up taking a set of spare hands from one of my 1/60s (the gunpod fits really well inside the 1/60 hands) and sanded the posts down until they'd fit in the 1/48 hand holes. the hands look great, they fit right in the forearms like the original hands (I used the "standard" hands meant to slide back into the valk's arms in fighter mode) and finally, I can actually have Hikaru shooting at (for the moment -- get on the ball, Yamato) nonexistent Zentradi. Anyway, to tell exactly what I did: 1. I fished out the hands, and an X-acto knife and and coarse sanding film (I think it was at least 600-- the dark grey film) 2. I whittled off the "mushroom" area of the post, and then sanded down the post until it fit in the hole. Right now, it's still a tight fit and could do with a little more sanding.

It all has to do with romanization. Ramu, Ram, Lamu, Lam, Lum. All the same green-haired oni-girl we know and love, but all also valid romanizations of her Katakana name. For instance, is it: Ichijyo, Ichijio, Ichijoe, Ichijo, Ichijou, Ichijyou? Or Britai, Breetai, Briitai, Vrwhitlai, or John Cleese?

Another one that many modelers swear by (they look on it as kinda their duct tape) is Future Floor Polish, made by Johnson & Johnson. Serious--many modelers use it as a sealant coat beacuse it gives a good shine without being overbearingly glossy. It's actually something like a acrylic semi-gloss coat (no wax whatsoever in it) intended to put on floors. I haven't used it yet myself, although I've been at myself forever to find a cheap bottle. If you're in the US, you should be able to find it (under a couple of different names) in most supermarkets.

Thanks, everybody for the sugestions. I went, stripped the green paint, stirred very carefully and now the paint went on even better than in the first coat. I can't see any brush strokes at all! Thanks again
