    Yamato 1/60 VF-X

I'm sorry but with the cock up that bandai's much anticipated foray into transforming valkyries has been, I think it's well past time to pull the yamato QC bandwagon over to the side of the road and take a big swig of reality. These things are hard to engineer and manufacture. If even Bandai, sporting a simplified and dumbed down version couldn't get it right on the first try (or apparently the second) with all their experience and resources then it's understandable that Yamato, being a much smaller company, doing much more challenging designs would also have issues.
  2. I've been listening and it's entertaining. I appreciate that you guys cover a wide variety of toys and lines to keep things interesting.
  3. Best anime: I'll go with the Macross Frontier movie. Not that it was particularly amazing but nothing else I watched was really memorable. Best sci-fi film: Inception Best sci-fi tv series: Fringe Best Video Game: Mass Effect 2. Consumer Electronic: I'll agree with the ipad on this one. Whether or not it's the "best" is debatable as the device and OS has more than its fair share of limitations and odd design choices (no itunes cloud support?) but it's a game changer for the industry. Toy of year: I'm going to go with the Yamato Macross... if only because that's the toy I've been waiting for all year long.
  4. given syfy's track record for cancelling shows, making a year long show is just about right..
  5. you can add the DLC 's whenever you want and play them after that certain mission.
  6. still in the process of moving in so pardon the mess Here you can see what happens to a house plant when left outside overnight in 30 degree weather. And a bunch of books and a lot of Primes. Wall of valkryies with exploding shoulders. some other stuff
  7. Because it's all recycled code from video games. They play games because thats what they were programmed to do and there was music in the games, thus a program for the music. And there was a lot of "real" stuff at flynn's place.
  8. Can't say I'm surprised that it's been cancelled. The writers/producers never seemed to get a good grasp on what the show was supposed to be about or even the format it was supposed to be. And then there's the pretty dumb ass decisions syfy made with the show, like delaying hulu streaming by 30 days, streaming episodes out of order... Just bring back SG-1. It had plenty of gas left in the tank and fits in much better with the current line up of light hearted shows like eureka and warehouse13.
  9. I never really felt that the plot was predictable, more that it was the natural progression of what would happen after the first movie. I think it'll be interesting to see what a system connected to the intertubes will look like, which is where I assume the franchise is going as sam and 13 dive into the emcom systems.
  10. I've kept a variety of pets, mostly dogs but I also had a freshwater planted tank that I sold to my boss after the CEO of red sea Raved about it to him. I then switched to a nano reef but sold it off when my son was a born. Currently we just have two roborovski hamsters named April and Suzy, while they're super cute they're not much of pets as they don't really take well to being tamed and a mostly active at night when the rest of us are sleeping. The idea is to get a medium sized dog sometime next year but my wife isn't much of a dog person so I don't think it will happen.
  11. I've just learned to accept the fact that my parents are quite unstable and rather than fight with them when they visit, I just put my toys away (while leaving a few bits out so they have something to complain about since complaining is how they eek out happiness in this world) and take them back out when they leave. Of course, it helps that we live 400 miles away from them.
  12. Saw it in REAL 3D . The level enjoyment one might extract from this movie will probably be in proportion to the amount of time one has thought about the various implications of the events of the first TRON movie. That is to say, I really enjoyed it.
  13. I love that they cut that box to fit.
  14. awesome... can't wait.
  15. Robotech fans really just need to get over it and do something new. Maybe even just reboot the entire franchise.
  16. Nope, I have joint atrophy on plastic/plastic joints as well, like the elbows. The shield/arm peg also requires noticeably more force to get it to secure now than when I first received it. There's something going on with the plastic.
  17. I like yours better.
  18. Yeah. I don't use 128 kbs on anything and haven't since my Diamond Rio over 10 years ago. I was just making a general point that not everyone listens to music the same way or has the same priorities. But I agree with your point, JBO. Decent components all around (and the right type of wiring for the job) are important and will help AV quality in a lot of cases. Just don't let people do the hard sell on you thinking that rushing out and getting 50 dollar cables will dramatically outperform the cheaper "nicer" cables. ESPECIALLY speaker wires. Do your homework, see if your speakers can even generate the frequencies that cheaper wires drop. Unless you're dropping the better half of a grand (at least) on each speaker, you're probably not going to notice the difference between "good" speaker wire and MONSTER ™ Electroblaster™ Cables with Superconductive Toroidal Insulation™ and Patented Turbine-Cut™ Connectors for Maximal Look-Cool Factor™ and Optimum Wallet Drainage™
  19. personally can't stand the D-stance in any mode. Fighter is just a mess. Battroid... it looks like a gorilla wearing a giant hood. Look at those elongated arms and the clownish feet. the D-Stance has far too many proportion issues for my taste.
  20. Well, the state of those fleets and the specific composition of them could be really different and a bunch of those races REALLY don't like each other, so there's a lot of story to mine there.
  21. Shitty cables can and do lose certain frequencies or have greater than average signal attenuation. But see, here's where it's interesting. If your equipment can't generate those frequencies anyways what does it matter? I mean, if you have a boxed home theater system from sony or whatever, rushing out and buying expensive cables and wiring isn't going to accomplish much. Similarly, fancy cables with the "correct" gauge wire, with blah, blah, blah might be awesome if you're doing a 100m run from your AV room to the theater run but if you're doing a 3ft drop from the TV to receiver, signal attenuation isn't much of an issue for you. For me, this debate is similar to the one where audiophiles complain about "lossy" MP3 players. Yes, a 128kbps mp3 file does not sound as good as a properly mastered CD. No question. BUT, I used my MP3 player on the train, on the bike, when I'm walking around and I don't have 800$ reference quality headphones so that distinction is really a moot point. In conclusion... yes, cables are important but the components they're plugged into are important as well and having awesome cables on mid range gear is kind of like getting the gold package on a civic.
  22. so people who complain about the busted shoulders on yamato are just "haters' and we should discount what their experiences are too, right?
  23. Really? I had just the opposite reaction. I've always felt bioware's only fault as a developer was that by the end of their games your character was just too obscenely powerful. ME was woefully balanced. By the end of the game your pistol had more firepower than the MAKO's heavy gun and biotics like Singularity could suck an entire warehouse full of bad guys to their doom. Playing at higher levels of difficulty did nothing to help this since it just meant that now the enemy had ridiculous levels of armor and could spot you from way beyond visual range. ME2 fixed this by still having cannon fodder for a high lvl character to mow through (husks) while introducing progressively more powerful enemies into the mix as the story progressed. So it kept the gameplay challenging while still allowing you to feel badass as you vaporized hoards of mindless husks with a well timed shockwave. ME2 also made the various types of guns actually useful as they affected different stats, armor, shields, biotics. And while in ME a handgun could snipe nearly as well as an actual sniper rifle, ME2 had actually had (some) consideration into range and accuracy (of course they ruined this with the weapons pack and the uber handgun of uberness).
  24. Is this the big movie remake of that tv series Seven Days?
