Well, the 21/22 has a rear facing sensor eye on the cowl, so it wouldn't be the first time it's been done.

Well, it looks like the pivot point of the two head lasers would be pushed up awfully close to the front of the face if the head were facing backwards in fighter mode. I dunno, it looks like Kawamori managed to have some fun with the design, like the nacelles that look like the leg nacelles from the 25/27 design but are actually part of the back. So, I'm going to stick with the head faces forward.

I dunno, I think it looks more like a rear facing sensor band like the eye the 21/22 has on the back of the cowl. It's up awfully high on the shallow part of the head dome for the forward sensor.

if that is the forward sensor/visor, it's going to be pretty wide since it looks like it wraps around the head.

ah, that's right. But I'm going to guess the 29 will have the head facing forward.

if it's the same as the 25 and 27, the face of the head faces forward so that antenna thing will look the way it does on the 21, sweeping back.

yeah, it should be a good toy. Nearly everything that was wrong with the 25, like the low slung legs, the tail fins that couldn't extend properly, etc, has been covered up or removed. The only concern that I have is that the little nacelle gun boom will cause more stress on that back plate. Hopefully they have sufficiently reworked that area so it won't crack.

I doubt it will be a holy grail item, maybe only because of the cost but yamato has shown a willingness to reissue an item until the market is saturated and then do sales to pick up the stragglers and then do weathered versions to get the people who will double dip and then issue a reissue again, just to be sure.

I'd email HLJ about it. A similar thing happened to me with fed ex where the tracking showed the package was picked up but nothing after that. HLJ shipped out a replacement after I brought it to their attention.

it could be that some glue got worked into the hinge or maybe the hinge isn't in the proper spot? It looks straightforward to open that part up, the one screw for the wing pivot and two screws under the leg.

yeah.. you're right. Bandai should totally just settle for "good enough". In fact, they should just sell little cardboard cutouts of the yf-29 with the word "awesome" written on it with a big Bandai logo. Because that's all we really need right?

it's not the paint, it's the surface it's being applied to. diecast metal isn't a glassy surface, it's textured coming out of the mold and even when finished the sanding action will still leave an impression that allows paint to adhere. The type of paint and quality of application will affect how glossy the finished product will be. A glossy finish on plastic, won't accept paint as readily as there's less surface texture for the paint to adhere to. And when it comes to the DX, the fact that a lot of them are still covered in mold release agent probably doesn't help the paint at all either. The yamato q-rau uses a glossy plastic finish and I haven't heard of the paint being an issue and it doesn't seem to scratch as easily as the DX either. Though, it certainly doesn't have any paint apps that are comparable to something like a valk.
