  1. Kind of a funny attitude to take. Other genres have music have their light weight songs and themes, why should rap and hip and hop be any different? It's not as if metal is particularly socially conscious or the world is a better place because myriad country singers sang about their dead dogs and their favorite truck for so long.
  2. ha, that's fantastic.
  3. So is that the story with your headless low viz 1s?
  4. VALKYRIE PILOT not destroid with a face driver.
  5. Okay, yeah, UC isn't as bad but nearly all the alt universe stuff is like that. Even 00 which started out promising devolved into the usual super human, with super gundam, saves the world by being super formula. Well, DYRL certainly gives the impression that Hikaru is the lesser of pilots between him and roy. But even if he is better than Roy, Max is clearly better than him by far. So I can't really give gamlin points just because he tries hard, most of the macross protagonists are like that with the exceptions of M&M.
  6. Well, Hikaru was a gifted pilot but he was hardly the best, both Roy and Max were better than him and Hikaru himself is shown training and getting repeatedly shot down throughout SDF:M. You can really say that about all the various Macross leads: Shin never really grasped battroid, hikaru had great situational awareness but only better than average piloting skills, Isamu was a gifted pilot but impulsive and a bit dumb, Bassara was great at battroid but his fighter mode skills were weak and Alto was good but even he constantly remarks how much better Ozma was and he's always being bested by Brera. It's one of the things I really like about Macross versus other shows like gundam where the protagonist not only has the best of the best of the best mecha but are also the best pilot, gifted in some way, privy to special knowledge that no one else has, etc.
  7. I always find I like the idea behind the japanese horror films to be far scarier and creepier than the actual implementation. And yeah, a big deal of it is cultural. The types of stories that get told in ghost horror movies are the sort that asians tell each other all the time. When I lived in Korea, my cousins, students, friends, all took great pleasure in telling me all sorts of ghost stories that were variations on the sort of story that the grduge and others are, all years before those movies came out. So half the fun is seeing it translated on to the big screen.
  8. yeah, I looked it up.It's not bad, the new additions are a lot more conservative and work with the original design a lot better than in that calendar illustration. The angry visor is just a bit much for me.
  9. Splice. A little Adam and Eve, a little Frankenstein's Monster and some creepy, creepy hermaphrodite incest.
  10. Besides, mounting a rear facing gun gives you an entire new firing arc while the head guns on the VF-1/0 merely supplement the gunpod.
  11. no, I think the legs are straight across, the gaps are just to show the various breaks along the thighs, knee guards, lower legs. If you look at the DX 25, the legs naturally sit below the back of the fighter and the new gun nacelles occupy the space where the legs should have been if the DX had been designed correctly. The gun nacelles are attached to a boom along the spine of the fighter that should allow it to swing up and rest along the back of the battroid in a configuration similar to the backpack of the VF-1... but with guns.
  12. and yet they have belts...
  13. Ha, it IS a Macross Frontier design! Discussion here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34229
  14. It's still CG, just with anime style cel shading.
  15. I don't believe there's been an official budget yet. It's just Defense Secretary Gates briefing Congress on his budget plans but no real details yet.
  16. Soooo... What's the story with the headless VF-1s there?
  17. The only DLC for ME2 that adds to the main story is Shadow Lair, everything else is just peripheral stuff that doesn't affect the story. Even Shadow just fills in around the edges, fleshing out the universe, it doesn't affect the main plot of the game.
  18. yeah, fighter mode is really different but battroid mode would look similar, the stuff that knight26 pointed out, plus the feet and the cod piece, should be the only things to really change. The basic stuff like the shape of the chest, arms, stuff like that should be more or less similar. I think Graham said they were looking at a 40-60% change in molds if they issue the ACTIVE so it's not nearly as big of a jump as from the the YF to VF remodel for the 19.
  19. yeah, you can keep playing after the final mission. All those N7 missions and DLCs are available.
  20. feet are really different as well.
  21. Lair of the shadow broker has dialog about just that very subject.
  22. the only problem I've had was when they first switched over and sent out the wrong screws but they replaced the entire stand for me, not just base. Haven't noticed the clear tips sticking to paint either but I have noticed the old black tip variety leaving marks on the plastic after a while.
  23. saw it, liked it. Nothing spectacular but not the horrible, horribleness that some people have been complaining about.
  24. Graham mentioned he brought it up with Yamato and that the CEO liked the design but that it would depend on how the new vf-19 toys do.
