these are not overly critical complaints... the landing gear barely.. and I'm talking microns here... barely lift the thing off the ground. the paint job is not just sloppy but down right horrible... I had chips on mine out of the box, not to mention the knee joint that was FROZEN in place... you would think the guy putting it together would notice something like that. parts that need to be strong... parts that will get lots of usage, like the shoulder joints, the tail fins, the missile hatch covers are very flimsy. many of the joints are loose... the thing can't bend it's arms more than 70% degrees. parts don't fit right... there are just a ton of mistakes on this thing. And really, so what if people are willing to dish out two hundred bucks on those MPC VF-1s? it doesn't make it a good toy, it makes those people ignorant for not buying a yamato 1/48.
-
the tail fins tend to pop off easily as well.. and those little tabs holding the knee guards in place look suspiciously weak too. man, for those people who thought the 1/48 were fragile, wait till you get a load of this guy.

heh, I like to think that we MW people are enlightened and that we welcome RT people... about the tread link up... the two clips behind the crotch thruster (don't know what else to call it) they hold the legs in postion in fighter mode but I think they could be used to clip onto the tread as well in battroid... or not.

yeah, it's a product of my art school days, my graphic design teachers were nazis man... you don't have to have to change blades that frequently, but I like to... means I don't have to apply as much force so less chance of the blade slipping and doing something really bad.

got mine today and at a discount! woohoo. super woohoo because there are some problems with this toy. the alpha is definitely more solidly put together than the VF-1, much more solid and not as floppy and the sculpt is overall very nice. issues: Big thing for me, the pieces that make up the knee joints are painted that grey colour... the left leg was frozen because the paint was not given time to dry. the left hand had too much paint put on it and did not flip out easily, took some prodding but it's good now. the missile pods on the fore-arm are a joke... they look like little watermelon slices because only a 1/3rd of the full circle is visible. the landing gear are difficult to extend and quite hideous.. we're talking landing gear on the 1/72 macross plus valks hideous. the front landing gear covers don't fit quite right, have tendency to pop out a bit, making that area not flush. the compartment that holds the cyclone has no locking mechanism... and the little plastic cover is quite loose, more than once my cyclone fell out... this little guy is definitely staying in the box. the VTOL thruster is quite loose as well and does not stay extended in battroid mode. paint is super spotty... lots of little errors... like bumps and what not... also, die cast used in areas of necessary contact... expect chipping. odd thing... the little area right behind the area where the sensor pod is supposed to go... looks like it has a hinge, does it open? doesn't open on mine, except down... which is odd. and good news, there is definitely a clip on the crotch of this thing for a beta hook up. I ended up paying around 60 dollars for this thing after tax... and while I like it well enough and am happy with it... after some repairs... I dunno how I would feel if I paid 80 bucks for this thing... if there are some serious QC fixes made for future releases I may get the rest but not as it stands now.
-
the thing that ticked me off about the retooling... was that that those fixes were so obvious they should have been fixed the first time around... I remember when I transformed the yf-22 for the first time, thinking, wow, if they just lay the legs down sideways, it wouldn't be so bulky... I'm sure the designers thought the same. but nope... they didn't bother... so I say, ferget the old designs, if they're going to release a yf-19 FP edition, make it 1/60, charge 120 bucks and I'll be happy... swap parts if you need to... but make it look good.
-
very nice... I have two comments... 1. can't believe you have the gundam stuff in the middle... tsk tsk 2. waddayamean you don't play with your toys often???
-
wow... so... hideous.... definitely keeping this thing in battroid mode...
-
very cool... erector actually has kits that have a bendable metal that will always resume it's original shape as long as you don't put a crease in it....
-
uhm.... no... from what we've heard, I'm guessing the entire cockpit and nose comes off, everything right after the air brake area on top... then you plug in a new nose, one that is shorter and has holes for the legs to be stuck in, like on the 1/60 VF-1 line

My Macross World is really really small

yup, sounds more super cool for you than weird. -
hey, welcome welcome... my opinion... don't bother with the 1/60 unless it's for the two seater valks or the gbp-1s armour .. oh and the q-rau and up coming vb-6... definitely get the 1/48's... completely worth the money, just fantastic sculpts, great attention to detail . MPC VF-1 toys are hideous... you're better off getting 1/55 bandai reissues. and the macross plus valks are cool... not anywhere near as nice as the newer stuff, but still pretty cool. enjoy your stay and say goodbye to a well padded wallet.

that was Barry Allen, i think. Wally West is extremely fast and i don't think Supes could beat him in a race. yup, supes just moves at several times mach, well under the speed o light. and doesn't matter how witty bats is.. flash can move faster than batman can think. flash would be able to run around the world faster than batman could even think about something witty! Sun Tzu: Victory goes to those who win first, then go to battle. Defeat comes to those who go to battle hoping for victory. Translation - Bats would have it set up to where Flash runs his showy butt into a brick wall of pain. ...just my intro into the retarded relm of Fictional Vs's. that is such a standard answer... well, batman always wins, therefore he wins... flash at light speed would obliterate anything in his way, think about it... infinite mass traveling at the speed of light, even superman would be blown to atoms if he got hit by that. anything bats does would seem to be occuring in slow motion to flash.. think about the stories during WWI when pilots would reach out and grab bullets because they were traveling at the same rate of speed. even if batman fired a laser at flash, flash and the laser would be traveling at the same speed and flash could easily dodge it... and if bats did put up a literal wall of pain, flash can vibrate the molecules in his body so that he phases through things... so.. batman can't touch flash, batman can't catch flash, batman can't even hurt flash. batman loses... batman, cool as he is... he's like wolverine... he's popular so he keeps winning fights he has no business winning... but look at what he can do realistically (as much as you can for a comic ) and he's just completely outclassed.

Kinda OT. Da World's LARGEST joint has been found.
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
obivously a joint for a zentran... -
get the vf-11b... I'm sure you're going to be able to find the alphas even a few months from now.

haha, myria dresses all nice and misa dresses like some 19th century flunky
-
hmm, still looks pretty good.. disapointed about the landing gear.. actually, the whole under belly looks pretty fugly... oh well.
-
nah, GL may be able to move outside of the normal constraints of relativity but he doesn't fly faster than the speed of light... besides, GL can't even think at the speed of light... whatever he's thinking of the fight would already be over since flash would be moving before GL's thoughts could be put into action... GL versus flash would go something like this: they start fighting. flash gets the ring off of GL before GL can even think a thought. flash wins.
-
heh. I say we find that plumber and teach his kid some manners!
-
Fixed. haha, batman is so over rated. superman could just stand on the moon and obliterate them all with heat vision. Green Lantern has the most powerful weapon in all the universe. he would 0wn all these fools, be he Kyle, Hal, John, hell even Guy Gardener could whup some ass. nah, flash is way stronger than GL... since he runs at the speed of light and you know, mass increases infinitely as you approach the speed of light...
-
yeah, the first teaser they had out didn't wow me at all but this new trailer makes it look pretty good. plus, I like the actors in it.. and while angelina has a hard time acting she sure is easy on the eyes...

id doesn't like EAX, so they went with their own 3D sound system. Two benefits: one, it's tweaked perfectly for Doom 3. Anyone with a 5.1 speaker system will tell you that you practically NEED one. Two, since Doom 3 is also being ported to the Mac, Linux, and Xbox, you run into the issue of hardware compatibility. With that said, the sound engine doesn't really suck up any precious CPU space--the game runs perfectly on any reasonable rig. yup yup... this is a sweet engine...
