What do you guys think of the new Exorcist movie?
eugimon replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So you're saying that movies should be status symbols? "What? You were entertained by a movie I did not like? You must have a disease.." Honestly. Better movies get buried by crap like this because the mind numbed public goes for it. The good scripts get buried by stupid poo like The Exorcist The Beginning, Aliens vs Predator, and Catwoman. I'd wager over the past decade, I've seen a higher percentage of great movies than most. eh, movies don't have to be high art, they can be just entertainment... and really, I think movies can be great without being all deep or high art or whatever... personally, I've found many critically acclaimed movies to be pointless and quite frankly, a bit masturbatory on the part of the director/writers... personally, I find the ration of craptacular to great to be the same in hollywood or in the indie market.. you still have to weed through the crap to find the enjoyable stuff. at least with the hollywood mindless summer action movie, they don't pretend to be doing anything than providing two hours of enjoyment... I find a lot of the independent directors to be just so full of whatever political or philosophical gibberish they want to cram down our throats as to be distracting... so please, lay off those of us who enjoy the mindless filler, and what makes you think we don't also watch the "good" stuff? -
Ahem, micro-missiles which don't stay on the launchers Graham uhm.. I dunno whatyou're talking about... mine stay on just fine....

well, considering how slowly yamato puts out info on their upcoming lines... I see things like the GBP armour as signs that there are other things in the pipe... guess I'm just being hopeful.. my personal take on the mac zero toys... I think yamato and big west are scared to invest as the series hasn't been doing too well from what I hear..I think once the series is complete and the casual fan picks up the collection, the boys in charge will be more willing to commit to larger/perfect versions of the toys. edit: spelling

wow... so much to look forward to.. while megazone isn't one of my favorites, the sculpt looks good... and wow... gbp-1s for the 1/48!!! super cool. I'm still sad over the delays in the yf-19 FP... Graham did write up a great response on why... and I'm cool with that... but still...
-
I voted for FP dude... the only yamato release with no issues.

meh, don't think this is a fair question... very few things in life will hold their value or go up in value... certainly not 98% of new cars and really, very few modern collectibles will be worth anything... hopefully they will just retain their current value. I buy non essentail stuff like toys because I want them.. if I get all concerned about their fair market value.. well, I would never buy DVDs or music CDs either since those are not worth their MSRPs as well. as long as I can afford the price and I like it enough, I'll get it. and if I want to complain about it later, I reserve that right

What do you guys think of the new Exorcist movie?
eugimon replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
saw it, thought that this movie did a lot to try to be the orginal exorcist but didn't really make it... there are a lot of things in the movie that are brought up and then dropped never to be heard from again. This movie also does the cliched loud noise for something mundane to get a scare bit, which I find rather cheap. the acting I thought was all around pretty good.. the special effects where meh, and don't even get me started on the last scene of the movie... overall, go rent the first one... this one is a rental. -
eh, takatoys are worth the money, font is crisper, colors more saturated.. it's just worth the ten bucks and extra time cutting out the stickers.

I think shuttle mode, all the new yamato macross products have shipped in fighter mode
-
haha, but you know those are fake right?
-
yeah, the next gen stuff seems very interesting, but I wonder how willing the pentagon boys will be when some of that stuff looks so different from what they think a ship should look like. edit: fixed some grammar mistakes... like adding words I forgot to type.
-
if the quality improves, I may get more than just one more, but if things go the way they are, I'll probably just get lancer's and be done with the line. too much of a gamble right now...
-
wow, looks great. battroid looks a bit disapointing... more squat than I would have liked but I can deal. looks great, can't wait for it!
-
I admit, looks great. hope future releases fix some of these problems.. my thinking is the paint stuff is because they rushed production on these guys.
-
music was great... the OSTs are still some of my favorites!

why?? I liked the Mummy Long live Steven Sommers mummy may have been enjoyable, but mummy returns was horrible and van helsing was just so bad. so hideous. he's on a downward spiral. he needs to be stopped before he directs again. and if you have any doubts, I leave you with these two lingering lines from his last attrocity... "I wonder what the sea looks like" and "Yes, I have no heart, for I am a hollow man!" :gag:
-
no, boycott this movie, only then will stephen sommers be forced to stop.

if the arms aren't locking in place in fighter mode (plane) than the problem maybe the position of the hips. the hips need to be pushed up (assuming the plane is horizontal) they will lock in place (who knows for how long) and the arms will fit better. and I am happy to see that I am not the only person who had joints glued together by still wet paint fusing...
-
check out the how to modeling forum... many masters there with many techniques
-
man, they look so good.. the joints are hidden so well! I'm hoping they make the bikes as well now... drool drool course, then we could have all new flame wars... moto-slaves versus cyclones.

this is a case where searching the forums would be really usefull, there is actually a pinned topic called: what's wrong with my blah blah blah, here's a link: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=143 anyways, the rubber coming out is a common thing, there's really nothing wrong with it other than it is unsightly... what you can do is gently pull the leg away from the center swing bar. the leg will pull away and leave a small rectangular box attached to the swing bar. you can then unscrew it, reseat the rubber gasket and complete the repair... I think some people here have tried actually gluing the rubber gasket in place with a nice high quality sealant that is formulated for rubber. I have not tried this. however, I will say I had this problem on my 1s re-issue and after fixing it myself, the seal has remained fine. sucks about the leg on your 1j though... as for the gun strap, I would suggest some nice pliers which you can use to open the rings and close them again. carefully though, some people have had the strap tear apart at holes where the rings go through.

my thinking.... 1. there's pre-programmed moves on the fly by wire system... so if the pilot does something extreme... say tries to slow down really quickly... the system understands that gerwalk would accomplish this better and changes form. also will change form if similar manuevers are done, and/or in order to keep weapons lock. 2. the producers are trying real hard to avoid the whole power rangers look.. you know, calling out the name of the move or weapon everytime before you do it... kinda silly. personally, I don't mind the lack of detail on the actual flight controls, a little bit goes a long way... I'm sure that stuff would be really interesting to gear heads and flight buffs but for average guys like me.. eh, I'd rather the screen time was spent on more dogfight footage.

gotta say macross as well... lost my interest in g.i. -joes pretty early on and have no interest in the new stuff.. liked G1 transformers for a while but quickly lost interest and only recently got back on board with the MPC prime and the binaltech line... gundams... eh. some are cool... others are rdiculous... kung-fu fighting gundam. legos were and are super cool... but I dunno, just lost appeal one day and never came back, even though some of the new kits are uber cool. action figures, various... meh. the mcfarlane toys are well sculpted but limited playability kept me away. so it's macross for me, and thanks to yamato, I can finally afford to buy some. haha.
