nice. I would have preferred the war within design over the new prime. that's some pretty impressive work as well. -
immovable? hmmm.... nope, mine is very movable... I can pick it up move its little arms around place it here, place it there. non-transformable??? well, considering it's not supposed to tranform I don't think you can really complain about that. no figure??? ye-gads! but then, it's 30 bucks cheaper, so I guess you're not paying for that non-figure, so why are you complaining? I can see why you wouldn't get the first one, apparantly you were under the impression that it was cardved out of some new super dense plastic that is immovable. I mean, I wouldn't want something that was immovable as well.. but wait... how did the UPS guy get it to my house in the first place??? perhaps the UPS guy has some magic power that allows him to move the immovable. Perhaps my UPS guy is actually the incredible hulk?

HWR-00-Mk. I Monster Destroid Intial Prototype
eugimon replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
problem with the whole the big clown hands serve a functional purpose is that using the big clown hands means you can't use the arm guns... not very practical or utilitarian.... would make more sense to give the thing a whole other set of arms and grappling mechanisms if the designers were so concerned with having that thing have to hold on to something to fire. but then, let's also think about that idea as well... just because this thing has hands doesn't mean it can just hang on anywhere... it has to hang onto areas that are reinforced to accept the kinetic energy of having this thing pulling on it... which means, some cables would do the job just as well. But then what if the carrier was designed so that the monster could hold on to anything? same thing, some cables would work just as well. And, cables would allow the monster to fire its arm cannons at the same time. Second point about it just being a cartoon.. well sure... but even in a cartoon, to be believable, everything uses a certain logic. In the macross universe, the powers that be went to great lenghts to establish that design elements in macross exist for a reason and not just at the designer's pleasure. So valk's don't dress up like giant fish to fight in the ocean, destroids don't turn into giant motorcycle propeled dogs, etc. So when a big piece of military artillery suddenly has big fugly clown hands to grab hold of stuff.. it just smacks of silly. I personally don't think it makes sense, from a tactical standpoint... it's fugly, as it disrupts the balance of the design and is suddenly intricate and complicated on a design that is straightforward and direct. -
thanks for the post, brings up a lot of great memories of some of my favorite anime.

well, that just launches us into a debate about just what ashlee simpson is actually being paid to do... I would say that most modern "pop" stars like ashlee and britney and all the other teenie bopper stars aren't paid to sing, but to "perform." happy to see another one of these kids exposed for what they truly are... and for some reason, 'specially ashlee.. that one song of her's particularly grates on my ears.

HWR-00-Mk. I Monster Destroid Intial Prototype

I always thought it earned it's name "monster" by being able to take out small fleet ships on its own... Anyways, I don't think not loving every little thing that comes out of the macross universe makes me "so" negative... maybe a little negative? to me... sticking big silly hands on the monster is just... well, the first thing that pops to mind is that ridiculous gundam line where the gundams where fish suits, or turn into bulls and there's that mummy gundam...oooh oooh and the gundam that wears the zebra stripped dress. I'm not saying it's that bad, it's just the first thing that comes to mind. -

it's rare when a design is so hideous it makes me rethink my appreciation of other designs in the family. -
Eh, I don't think it would be a problem for the wings to support that weight, after all the SV-51 does become an ornithopter in battroid mode so I would imagine those wings to be much stronger than they appear. Interesting design.

Sometimes, bad movies can be good, and sometimes good movies can be bad, and sometimes a brilliant creator has to stand by and watch his vision be raped by some jack-off. -

looks kinda batmobile-ish to me. bleh. I say bleh... megs should not be some snazzy-future-sports car. I've gone from meh to bleh on the new transformers line. so far only starscream looks decent. hum... much like the energon toys. -
well, to be fair, the original japanese version also has its share of loud noises to scare audiences.

got around to seeing that SDF-4 pic... and for the record, I don't think Agent One was being harsh at all.. that this is a fugly POS... and what color is that? goose crap brown with a little duck puke green for variety?
-
I didn't find ju-on to be particularly scary/good... it quickly became a game of spot the little ghost boy. I too will be watching "saw" long before I go see the grudge.

I'm going with meh... convoy's face looks fugly and while starcream does look pretty good, I think binaltech/alternators has spoiled me to kiddy bots. -

I was the ONLY one laughing in the theatre I was in, Cape Fear style... Like I said,I went to see it in "The Peoples Republic of Berkeley California." So the theatre was full of weaklings and pussies. hahaha, I love berkeley... some guy wants to cut down an old tree.. hell, hunger strikes, protests, bloody mayhem. some guy gasses 300,000 of his own people, starts wars with neighboring countries, lets his kids go around raping and maiming people at will, hunger strikes, protests and mayhem to protect HIM.
-
saw this movie in irvine california.. there were maybe 20 people in the theater and maybe 8 of us were laughing.
-
It's like they're just hell bent on driving the franchise straight into the ground.
-
I'm looking forward to seeing this one in the theaters.
