the red alpha is out in stores now, puzzlezoo as southcoast plaza in costa mesa has a couple. the one I played with seemed a bit looser than the blue, but easier to transform.

Macross Helmet, which one is the coolest?
eugimon replied to grss1982's topic in Movies and TV Series
I liked isamu's helmet as well. -
Disney is going ahead with TOY STORY 3.
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
well, the only good news to have come out of disney for a long whiles is that eisner is finally stepping down, maybe then the open sewer line parading around as their animated film dept will be replaced with something that doesn't suck. -
it's decently fun. not nearly as deep as baldur's gate (uhm, PC version) and more deep than the console baldur's gate. keeping track of you character and what's happening can get confusing at times, and I thought the camera could have used some more tweaking... I did not like the positioning but I got used to it after a few seconds. the powers and the effects are cool, as are the combo attacks... not all of the characters were useful imo, most of the time I stuck with wolverine, cyclops, iceman and either storm or jean... just found them the most effective. the story is pretty good, a decent x-men story that is familiar but has a wee bit of a twist to keep it interesting for us old time x-men fans. graphics are okay, not really cell shaded though... overall, fun game. fun party game as well, as eventually you can play with four people.

Official Transformers Alternators and more thread.

size relationships were never really described well on beast wars. in the episode where cheetor wakes up and prime has already become optimal optimus, optimal's arms were HUGE in relation to cheetor. here's a pic (taken from www.bwtf.com): -
Science and Technology MEGA THREAD
eugimon replied to Max Jenius's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yup. In fact, they may have only died out as recently as 12,000 years ago, which is pretty darn recent for any human relatives. But they were also a strange mix of features, some of which were fairly primitive. I'll be curious to see how scientists fit them into the evolutionary tree. I think the hobbit thing has been shown that they were just small people and not some new hominid. -

yup, beast wars started way way way into the future, they went back in time, saved the G1 guys, captured megs and went home to cybertron only to lose megs, have one of their own betray them and confuse transformer fans world wide. beast wars was a fun show though, had some really cool episodes. -
Lead for The Da Vinci Code flick has been cast
eugimon replied to Jolly Rogers's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
meh. didn't care for the book, don't care about the movie and I like tom hanks, he's good, but meh. -
Hmm, I disagree on the incredibles thing.. I thought the movie was more along the lines of: don't hide what makes you unique, celebrate it.

optimal optimus was much larger than most other bots from his generation, but much smaller than the G1 guys, think back to megatron floating in front of prime's head before he shoots him... megatron was about the size of prime's head. second question: I would imagine so, I believe MPC prime and the alternators are all in the 1/24 scale. -
yikes... the CGI in the FF movie, while they might look like humans, did not move like humans... the motion capture stuff sure, but all the animated stuff? pretty hideous, very akward. Matrix movies? those models had some serious deformation problems around the limbs, especially the shoulder joint. LOTR, sure, gollum was amazing, but this was a motion captured performance. the animation in incredibles was very state of the art, the level of fluidity, and integrity of the model's posability was just astonishing. BTW, the matrix CGI team also did the polar express movie, just look at the difference in the way those characters move and tell me that they do better work than pixar.

not a hoax, these things have been on CNN, disover magazine, all over the place... didn't know they got one to go so fast, all the stuff I heard about it previously was around 30-40 mph. edit: and it's not a submarine... it's a hydrofoil and it dives under water for limited periods of time.

not for FPS... halo is kinda a different story, since it's obvious the AI has been tweeked for console play... but FPS on a PC and on a console, it's just two different worlds.
-
sound force valks for me as well... I don't mind faces on mechs, whatever, it's just the next step from painting a freaking shark face on your jet... but those were just hideous.

I'm also a fan of the VF-1s head, and the j type as well. unit02 from eva is also a favorite of mine.
-
nah, similar is not enough to sue over, marvel would have to argue that by showing these characters, pixar somehow weakend marvel's brand name, or deliberately tried to confuse consumers into thinking that the incredibles was a marvel product. ya gotta think, how many "superman" type characters are out there now? archetypes are fair game.
-
Actually, this is probably an extrapolation of modern tech... the AH-64 apache uses a system similar in function... the pilot wears a special helmet that amoung other functions, allows the pilot to target the chaingun mounted under the apache. I think, though I might be mistaken, the current version of the euro fighter uses similar technology.

yeah, it bums me out that toynami and yamato relase the most popular designs early on, when they are frought with QC and design errors. release the crap first, or get it right the first time.
-
one would think that having re-occuring parts would mean cheaper price for consumers... but I direct your attention to the VF-1 toys... other than the head and the paint job, they are identical, and yet they are not cheap, even the 1/60 line is not cheap. I think it is wishfull thinking to expect yamato will release destroids at a low price point, they will probably be less expensive than the 1/60 valks, but I doubt they would offer a two for the price of one special.

no kidding, still have DS coming out at the end of the month.

The cast of Marvel's FANTASTIC FOUR unveiled!
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
meh, the incredibles is the be all and end all of superhero movies. -
that's not samus, that's rook in her new shadow force cyclone.

you forgot about the amazingly brittle plastic they used for the hands, the missile cover joints... gotta have someone recast those in a plastic that doesn't suck.

wow, thanks for the review, looks like I saved myself 50 bucks. guess I'll be getting knights of the old republic 2 when it comes out.

I agree, macross was great for its day, some of the animation on that show was incredible... part of me feels like going back and doing a lucas would just be an insult to the people who did such a fine job. I would rather see the time and effort be put into a new series, something that moves the story forward or fleshes out the universe some more.
