  1. oooh, spiffy. and gainax has been much smarter about pimpin their stuff on other things than has bandai, imo.
  2. got it late last night, watched about two hours of it before I went to sleep... slept because I had work today, which I walked out on because the manager is a witch, anyways, the new scenes so far.. well, most of them, are great.... the gandalf confronting sauroman scene was just great and I wish they had kept in the theatrical version.
  3. dude, you need to supply a link or something... while I like natalie portman as much as the next guy, this isn't the website to be posting that.
  4. yup, the tv series ending is basically what's going on in shinji's head for the first movie, and the second movie actually wraps things up... if you get all the religion/mythology stuff, the ending will make sense and well, it ends the only way it could. the movies are definitely worth watching, some of the best big robot fight sequences ever.
  5. marathon.... I get my anime from friends... so I'll get little dvd gift packages with around 20-30 episodes at a time... so I'll just stay up until wee hours of the morning catching up on naruto or one piece... in fact, I just finished full metal alchemist in this fashion... sleepy.
  6. I don't think you understood what im trying to say that a 1/48 is more based off a bandai than a 1/60 would be. a 1/48 is much wider in fighter mode to make battroid look little better than the narrow chested 1/60. Also I said just on looks in batt mode with much better transformation method. I built few of the kits too like proly most of the people here. ah, my mistake.. are you talking about the aesthetics and proportions of the two? in that case, yes... I agree with you.
  7. welcome to the club!
  8. it's clear in that second picture that ewilen linked to that the IHP has definite and noticable swing bars, plainly evident in fighter mode... not cannon. and other than battroid mode, the thing looks clunky... notice how low the head hangs in gerwalk and fighter mode... the mechanical bits that hang out here and there. though the 1/60 has it's problems, IMO, it *looks* better than the IHP kit.. and the 1/48 is far superior.
  9. 1/48 yammie is based off of what bandai? the transforming model kit? I've made a few of those... and there's not much similarity in the mechanics.. course, any valk design is going to be somewhat similar because the designers are trying to make real a set design and transformation...
  10. Yeah, pretty much what I'm thinking as well... plus, I really don't have the time to put together a PG kit... VB-6 it is then!
  11. well, I'm getting myself the vb-6... but I'm really debating cancelling and getting the PF strike instead.. so torn.
  12. SDF macross is what got me started, and I watched DYRL at the time as well... but it wasn't until mac plus that I truly fell in love with macross.
  13. wow... those mpc replacement parts are amazing... the hands are great!

    Huge SDF1

was it a promo item? I have a memory of this thing as well... I wanna say it was like 3 feet long.... would love to see a picture/and/or clarification.
  16. yup.
  17. hmm, watched eva, loved eva, didn't find the ending confusing or disapointing at all, well, after the movies cleared things up. eva seems to me a clear cautionary tale, it ended, the only way it could, in tragedy. but i thought escaflowne was immensely superiour to evangelion in almost every way.
  18. I know I complained about my DS at first, but after having it for a few weeks, I'm quite fond of it now. having said that, I will still get the PSP when it comes out.. maybe not right away anymore... but eventually. the battery life is more and more bothersome the more I think about it.
  19. I can't say I'm too excited about the mpc magnus... if it is legit, seems to me like a pretty half-assed attempt... they could have at least given him his own gun and maybe something else other than the energy axe and a megatron repaint... when did he ever use either?
  20. The thunder hammer is supercool, and I would love an armor set for my 1/48's... but the GBP is just classic..I dont think it is too 80's at all.. it looks to me more like the riot armor that asian riot police wear... and it also looks very much like modern ablative armor retrofits for tanks.
  21. a few that I liked, in no particular order: vision of escaflowne is a sci-fi/fantasy show, great story, animation was pretty good, incredible music. cowboy bebop... just a perfect show. the movie is great as well. Last exile is pretty good, aerial combat sequences are pretty darn good, engaging story and characters.
  22. At Puzzle Zoo in Santa Monica, one of the Toynami sculptors supposedly created a custom Sideswipe using the current Alternators parts, and swapping all the Viper pieces with a fully die-cast 1:24 scale Lamborghini Countach. Of course there were needed mods to it and all, and supposedly it can even transform. But it looks awesome and just like a more poseable version of the old school toy. I was very impressed. bastards, I work at the puzzle zoo in south coast, and we can't even get regular transformers in stock, and santa monica gets all the cool stuff? And to think, I was the one who told the owners about the alt/binaltech line to begin with. bastards.

    Macross Jack

    dude. sweeeet.
  24. given what a fickle beast the MPC alpha has turned out to be, I actually shudder to think what the beta would be like. I mean, they botched this one up pretty badly, and there have been so-so successful toys for them to plunder and some proven designs.. but the beta, that's uncharted territory.. plus they got to make it link up? I'll believe it when I see it.
  25. meh.. i find paint chipping on my SOC toys as well... heck, on the unit 2 eva SOC, even the little booklet they give you shows a SOC that has all sorts of chipping. I also prefer little/no diescast... the toys have better posability, less wear and tear on the joints, and plastic, and consistent coloring.
