I don't think 47 was a waste of time at all... lacus awakening and assuming responsibility for who she is and the role she could play as a political leader is a key moment in her development... athurun, kira, lacus and cagalli were the key players in the last war and could have shaped how things turned out by force of will and charisma... instead each chose to go into hiding or to turn away from their responsilbity... so now kira does more than react, he looks to actively pursue the next step athurun as well... cagalli is finally becoming a true leader by assuming responsiblity and now, with meer's sacrifice, lacus is steping forward in her role as a sort of spiritual and political leader/figurehead... destiny is all about the characters either being true to themselves, or living/obeying others. This moment was important for lacus' character.

My favorite would by Kim Stanely Robinson's California Trilogy... then the Dune books... I really liked the Pern books when I was a kid as well.. not so much now.

I loved the movie.. it's definitely for fans only though... kind of like an elseworlds story... there's no fat to the story.. it's just lean and brutal... beautiful animation and I rather enjoyed the pacing. The only characters that really matter in the movie are van an hitomi.. the other characters do suffer and come off a little flat.. but that is to be expected with such a large cast of characters, imo. check it out with an open mind and I don't think you'll be disapointed.. I definitely dig these type of movies better than the usual 2 hour long tc episode type movies.

I'm not thrilled about the color of the pilot.. but you know... I think that's a hurdle I can jump... yeah.. yeah... I think I can. I'll be picking this guy up for sure.

you could make the argument that the alliance chose to funnel their time and money into the super weapn projects like the destroy and requiem instead of playing the numbers game...

not me. seems more like nostalgia to me than anything else. plenty of stuff that has come out recently has been great... off the top of my head, mac plus and even zero ROD Cowboy Bebop Escaflowne Hajime No Ippo Naruto (though the last two arcs suck... I'll give you that) Last Exile Full Metal Alchemist... Plenty of good stuff.

I agree... pacing really was off for this show... for me though.. I just want to see the characters actually behaving in a similar manner to who they were at the end of the previous show...

I think it's pretty clear that GSD is act two in a three part story. I wouldn't mind more GS... it's been entertaining.. it rarely rises above that but it's good enough for mindless fun and some decent fight sequences.

You know what? I have to keep track of a lot of things in life. I have to learn a lot all the time. I don't have the time, the need or the inclanation to learn a forien language. Especialy one as alien as the Asian languages.
