Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film
eugimon replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, having a spectacular opening action sequence is a part of the Bond formula and that fight isn't inconsequential at all. How Bond handles it and botches the job turns out to be a major part of the character's motivation throughout the movie. And that free run sequence is widly regarded as one of the best chase sequences in all of cinema... so I'm not going to lose sleep over the fact that they used a deceleration rig off of the crane jump when so much of the sequence was done for real, on set and not in front of a green screen. But whatever, your mileage will very. I loved CR and while I agree with the popular sentiment that Solace wasn't as good, I still say Solace is better than 90% of previous Bond movies and that opening car chase sequence is spectacular.- 251 replies

That's really selective... And no human could throw a hat that chops up statues or bite through steal cables, on and on. They're action movies not primers on what actual spies do- 251 replies

1/60 VF-19F/S Excalibur Seething Anticipation Thread
eugimon replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
The F/S types have different shoulder pauldrons from the P type. The shape is similar but the P has different detailing like the sensor/jewel that is similar to the VF-19 Kai's shoulders. -
I love it because it's hideous.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
eugimon replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
yeah, Im not going to freak out about it but it wouldn't be the first time Yamato provided doubles of an accessory. The Patlabor has an extendable baton and a die cast, full sized unit and the vf-19 has the anime shield. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

should be doable, but might need to shrink the gunpod to make it work. In that case, I'd suggest two gunpods, one for PT and a beefier, anime accurate one. -
this. I bought FF8 off of the PSN store to play and I just couldn't get into it at all. I think I'm over my infatuation with JRPGs for good now. I just don't fancy long, pointless walks, back and forth on a little trail that is hidden along pretty scenery. Waiting for the random, tedious battle featuring a complicated battle system that is complicated just to be complicated. I just feel like the entire JRPG genre decided that the FF7 model was the one that everyone liked so they just set about remaking it, over and over and over and over again.

1/48+fp's, 1/60+fp's, 1/72, 1/2k, 1/3k,1/100 and now 1/144
eugimon replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Toys
I think the idea was that this thread was for people to show off their collections while the "pose" thread was more for pictorial type pictures, people showing off their camera skills, story telling, that sort of thing. But honestly, the two threads really do have a lot of overlap and I've never heard of people complaining about cross contamination before... so fire away and keep the mecha porn coming. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
the cockpit control panel could have been given a tampo print, or at the very least, a sticker. -

Gunpod is as it should be. It fire speaker pods rather than bullets, so no multi-barrel detailing. I'm bummed about the lack of tampo as well. -
played for a while when it first came out but got bored with it and now I can't get into it again despite all the new content.

I don't mind the boots but I don't like the shiny finish on the face.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Send me the toy, you can keep the box. -
SDFM makes up the bulk of my collection. I think I'm only missing the M&M 1D and the angel bird valk... favorite toy would have to be the yammie SDF-1, followed closely by the new vf-19.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
One of the things I like so much about this is how easy it is to transform back to fighter mode. The arms stow away much more cleanly without the funky swivel bicep/elbow design of the yf-19 and because there are so many tabs, you're not constantly fighting the legs flopping down or what not as you try to get everything lined up. I have to agree with Renato and Graham, this truly is the next step for Yamato. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)

there's nothing to fix. There's just no room in there between the GERWALK joint, the wing root hinge and the hip joint. All the space is used up. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
my copy just came in. First thoughts: The box is very small, the same size as the v2 1/60 vf-1 boxes. My copy came with mold release on it, not as bad as the DX valks but it's very much there. Listen to my song dude is very well sculpted, right down to his hipster specs. It's heavy! Everything locks together and often in more than one place, very nicely. Example, not only do the wing roots tab into the torso and legs but the cod piece also locks the fuselage into the torso. Definitely a much more stable bird than the 1/60 yf-19. to gerwalk: GERWALK joint issue. I can see how it would break. Not only is the joint very tight, but it's shallow compared to the v2 1/60 vf-1... so you WANT it to go further than it actually does and then bad things will happen. The cod piece also doubles as a torso lock in fighter mode and getting it free the first time was a bit of a bother for me but I love the inclusion as it makes fighter mode feel very solid. To Battroid. Wow, there's a lot going on during the torso fold and all the little sliding panels and hinges need to be in their proper positions for everything to come together. The new hips are a marvel and once you see it in hand, it's easy to understand why there are no removable intakes this time around. The hip bars basically swing up and LOCK into their battroid position and the LERX (which is connected to the torso) slides up and swings back to make room. Posability is what we've come to expect from Yamato but the deeper knee bend and the faux double jointed elbows are nice. The big improvement is that all the joints are TIGHT and easily hold a pose, despite the added weight of this figure versus other valks. Fit and finish are excellent though I feel Yamato skimped out on the tampo printing. I'm guessing their MO is to give it that anime look (stock) but a tampo printed instrument panel would have been appreciated. I know people are hovering around this because of the high price point and the early breakage reports but I would say it's worth the purchase price. The GERWALK joint is avoidable, it's hardly a vf-0 or vf-1 type breakage where the material just goes and breaks. It DOES require some careful handling, so take time when handling that problem area. -
oh, that's what you mean by the "yammie arm". hmm, I don't have either so I really don't have an answer for that. edit: there's a little slot in front of the round default stand peg slot. So I wonder if there was supposed to be a little adapter piece that was supposed to go into the rectangular slot to make it work with the other stands?
-
Man, you all are a disbelieving lot, aren't you it just pegs right in, nothing fancy.
-
just make sure the little tab on the adapter (what the arrow is pointed at) clicks onto the corresponding bit on the 21/22 and it'll then have a 3 pt attachment and be nice and secure.
