Dam You Macross 7 Dam You #$%#$^#$&^$%&
eugimon replied to deadghost's topic in Movies and TV Series
Japanese have different concepts of unacceptable body language. As the image used in the avatar is a Haruhiku Mikimoto original, I don't think North American body language should be read into it. 422479 yup, the middle finger is used in the same context in asia (at least korea and japan) as the index finger is used in the United States. -

No, I'm not. Care to put anymore words in my mouth? Or shall I make another post stating my opinion so you can nitpick? Seems like that is all you do. 422362 nah, it gets too confusing. First you say this: And then you say: I was responding to the person who was talking about how excited they would have been to get one as a kid. I know it isn't for children. 422250 the first statement clearly states that you, as a kid, would break it. Then, when you get called on it by gobotfool and you then say you were talking about adults all along... so it's only fair to conclude that you mean that adults, or maybe just you, would act like a child and break this toy when it comes out. I'm just trying to better understand your position. -

okay... I see the detail now, thanks David. all in all, I have to say it's a very minor thing. Even with the dual canon thing. -
that is a sexy beast. I really hope yamato expands the 1/60 line further and adds a Yf-21/vf-22 into the mix

dude.. you are so right! I'm going to go watch my HG version of tora tora tora now... only in this version, instead of being about the japanese bombing of pearl harbour, they cut in scenes from armageddon, because armagedon is KEWL and they made it about fighting aliens.. SHADOW aliens, because aliens are super cool and shadows are like, all scary and stuff, so shadow aliens are like, scary cool. dude, it so rocks! 422241 Last time I checked the only scenes cropped into the original Macross by HG were from the Southern Cross in a lame attempt to connect the two series. Nice attempt at over the top sarcasm though. I don't know why you started going on about the Shadow Chronicles when I was addressing Macross fans attitudes towards Robotech. Perhaps if you read through my posts in this topic, you would see that I'm not a fan of what HG is doing with the Shadow Chronicles. 422252 Yeah... because... you know.. robotech didn't take three entirely different cartoons and splice them together... or paint out whole sections in an effort to make them look like they belonged together. yeah, you're right! No hack job there. -

You missed my point. For some reason they decided to make him into a realistic jet, but they screwed up on the conformal fuel tanks on the side of the intakes, and his freaking cannon is on the wrong side. Seems to me like the cannon was a foolish mistake, maybe theres a reason to have the conformal tanks the way they are. And the colors. Like I said, they have grown on me. I'd buy it if it weren't for the hip and shoulder pieces hanging off. Also, if I had this as a kid it would probably have been broken the first day I had it. It doesn't look very durable. 422203 here's a shot of an F-15 with conformal fuel tanks: Those look pretty similar to the ones SS are sporting. What are you fiending about exactly? As for the foolish canon mistake... maybe they were trying to emulate this: but decided to save a little on tooling costs. just tell yourself it's a compromise they made to keep costs down, or because it's a TOY... you know,, like how his rear landing gears come out of odd places and how... you know... transforms into a robot. -

I was responding to the person who was talking about how excited they would have been to get one as a kid. I know it isn't for children. 422250 so, you're expecting adults, to revert to being a clumsy seven year old when they get this? -

well, just go over to the cannes film festivle website. Do a search for the films shown in the 2006 selection... and WHA??? No Robotech? No Shadow? Here's a link: http://www.festival-cannes.fr/films/films....02&edition=2006 OMG! The conspiracy must have spread to the cannes film festival itself since according to HG, people CHEERED at the end of the showing. -
How does THAT work? Like HG's Disasterpeice stuff looks any closer to the TV A head then the 1/48 DYRL head? 421791 that toynami can't even rip off better designs well has nothing to do with yamato not wanting to get into a legal battle with HG. 421882 This is such classic MW. Something that clearly had nothing whatsoever to do with HG/Toynami, and yet somehow they get blamed. I'm waiting for the thread where you prove HG was on the grassy knoll... 421883 Okay fanboy, if you actually try comprehending my post instead of just rambling off, you would see that I was actually asking a question with my first post. Hence that odd squiggly looking symbol at the end of my sentence. Some people call it a "question mark." And then you will see that snapback asked another question in reference to my question which is implied to be something we call a "joke." The "joke" could be inferred from the "disasterpiece" comment and by the "emoticon" at the end which is commonly accepted as a figure "laughing." To which I responded with a sardonic comment and even capped it off with another "emoticon" of a figure sticking his tongue out... also commonly accepted as someone making a joke. And BTW, prove to me that Yamato's decisions did not have anything to do with HG zealously protecting their copyright claim. Since, this is the explicit claim you are making where as I was merely asking a question on the subject.

I don't think there was a 6 month lead time before the Max reissue was annouced ... 421808 Thats maybe true but everyone kept talking about the possibility of it resurfacing. 421811 it's also a reissue.

bah. a double hinge with the right materials wouldn't be much weaker. they already have it of sorts with the VF-0's legs.
-
it's the new whine. With the 1/48 it was "why don't they give us all the different head variants?" and now it's this. I hope we get repaints galore of the YF-19 and yes... the vf-19a in all it's 1950's baby blue glory... And I'm not even saying that the other variants are not coming, I'm just saying it would be more of a pain and more costly than some people think it would be. And kudos to David for giving a much more in depth explanation!
-
I don't see why yamato doesn't just use double hinges for elbows and knees. Even those cheapy marvel legends toys have double hinges.
-
you know guys... once a mold is cast, you can't go back and tweak it. You have to make a brand new mold for the new design. And since those babies are carved out of big blocks of stainless steel... it's kind of expensive. And given how different the YF-19 is compared to the VF-19s, there would be a significant amount of cost involved. I'm not saying I wouldn't mind seeing a VF-19 excalibur, I'm just saying it's not as easy as some might think.
-
That makes sense as well.
-
I TOTALLY HEAR YA. Many of us here have interests in multiple "hobbies". With the prices these days, it's a real tight wire act trying to juggle them. . 421711 With a six month lead in time.. all it takes is 20-30 dollars a month, set aside, to get a 1/48 or the new 1/60 valks.
-
not that I know of... there is no localized version of the 1/48. I think the idea was to make it easy for companies to import the 1/48's in the US and other foreign markets.
-
wasn't there some talk that yamato would not produce an anime accurate "TV" only version to side step the whole copyright issue with HG?
-
are those guns in the FLIR blisters on the nose?

hah! That's great!

Boeing for me. Been in a few airbus planes and they always felt a little... uhm.. rickety... 'course, could be because I was flying china air at the time...
-
Really? Which ones? 421648 I can't think of any off the top of my head. The only thing I can think of is the big battle cruiser with its "main gun" special attack. Those bipedal mechs remind me of ed209 from robocop though...
