  1. just to chime in on the "hard-on" thing... I hear it used as: "passionate dislike" as well... from my watching of mac 7, I got the impression that basara was very talented, but had poor judgement.
  2. well, the only mode he wasn't shot down in was gerwalk, no?
  3. that stealth scheme is pretty sweet, that's a repaint I'd buy
  4. why interject rational thinking into a perfectly fun thread about super advanced cavemen building sun temples and zentradi building pyramids?
  5. I'm not a fan of the baby blue color scheme for the 19a... I hope yamato decides to do some other interesting schemes... though, I dunno know if I could pick up repaints at the price they're asking.
  6. heh, all this mac II talk sent me to youtube to see if I would care any more for it now that I'm older... nope. while the mecha designs were decent enough, ultimately the story and the characters just killed it for me.
  7. I'm sure the vf-11 would be easier to make, but I wouldn't be nearly as interested in one as much as the yf-21
  8. I think he's talking about the boxes...
  9. post a movie!!!
  10. haha... I supposed the pyramids would be a fair sight easier for zentradi to build than humans...
  11. money is a tool, you use it to get what you want or need. And what those things are can vary from person to person. I'm sure if we looked at your purchases we would find stuff that we would find of questionable value but you find important. It has nothing to do with how much we value money... our money nor how intelligent for us. I'm glad you're the ebay king and you can find your stuff for that price... for me, my time is more important and I'm not inclined to sit on ebay and waste my time. for me, 25 extra dollars is well worth my time.
  12. heh... "average" is WAY better than I was expecting from this.
  13. the new movie looks great, but I'm not sure what I think about moving away from the camp that made 007 famous... this new serious/dark tone feels more like a bourne movie than a bond movie. then again, I haven't liked james bond since I was 7 so maybe this is a good thing
  14. yeah, considering how long we've waited and what this thing is going to cost... if this comes in around vf-0s quality, I think I would be mighty pissed.
  15. hmm, the show showed divers chipping off layers of coral to expose the base rock and were even commenting that the coral growth makes the rock look much more even surfaced than they actually are.
  16. yeah, without actually analyzing what the underlying rock is underneath all that coral, talking about what they look like now is almost pointless. It could very well be that the rock is/was some sort of crystaline based metamorphic rock that natural fractures in sheets and planes... very possible considering japans volcanic origins.
  17. considering that early japanese have many many similiarities to polynesians, any correlation between the two wouldn't be terrbily surprising... saw the same show today, I think those "ruins" are really reaching. There's no sense of design or rational thought to the placement of shelves and ledges nor was there any sense of measuring or consistancy. Looks like to me people trying to force rational design on something which was not man made and random.
  18. I've heard this arguement that Japanese are somehow culturally disinclined to sequels or continuing sequels, but this really takes a simplistic view of their popular culture. Just because their television shows tend to be self contained ( a set number of episodes, encompasing one story arc) does not mean there are not episodic, or continuing stories. There are several high profile series/movies that have spawned on sequels or continuing seasons that featured the same cast of characters in continuing adventures. Also, there are several well known series that just keep going on and on, year after year, building on story arc after arc, featuring the same characters. Personally, I find the notion that somehow Japanese people are so abstract in their thinking to betray more of a romantacized and simplistic view of Japanese culture than anything else.
  19. musings about the future of macross aside, I couldn't stand watching more of mac II after the first installment, yet I finished mac 7. In the end, I cared less for the macross II cast then I did the macross 7 crew.
  20. I got a look at the re-issue MPC prime at target today... hasbro took out the diecast from his legs... a pretty sad release.
  21. I was super excited for this version of FF... but I've sold my PS2 and now it looks like I'll have to miss out.
  22. I'm pretty excited for this.. but i've been spending way too much money on toys lately... so when it's a toss up between valkyrie or SDf, I'll take valkyrie
  23. oh god, please let it go already... complain about megatron now.
  24. yeah, I guess nostalgia has it's place. I guess for me, I never liked meg's bot mode (in terms of toy) I always thought he looked rather fugly. So bring it on takara, give us something for the gun nuts to complain about!
