I agree with nani on this one... after thinking about it, if they do release the shin type, I'm going to be mighty pissed. I can't get as many valks as I used to/would like to and i would have gotten the shin type over the CF type.. specially considering how similar they look. I'm pretty disapointed in yamato.. deliberately misleading their customers is just a piss poor way to treat us, if it ends up that there is a shin type coming out.

that's not just a new pilot, that VF-0 has a WHITE STRIPE accross the chest!!!!
-
hmmm, I agree with dave, I don't like how the leg is bent to accomodate the leg fastpack... is this anime accurate? I always had the impression from the anime that the leg FP for the yf-19 was more like the FP for the vf-0? but I don't get what the "wrapping around" part is in reference to, dave. the top part connected to the shoulder is the shoulder FP.

maybe the macross stuff isn't selling and they're jacking up prices to compensate?
-
that's good and bad news... it seems like yamato has a definite upward trend in their prices.

well, there's some pretty big differences as well. isamu and guld were childhood friends, split by a deep betrayal. iceman just doesn't like maveric, cuz he's crazy and all mavericky there's a significant love triangle in mac plus there are significant gay overtones in top gun isamu never really grows up maverick is driven to become more responsible over guilt for the death of his friend iceman doesn't change much, pretty much a 2d character guld recognizes his role in the death of the friendship and works to make amends there are similarities between the two, but the character motivations and arcs are pretty different

well, maybe they could ask conformal ammo clips or something and make dave happy. -
hmmm, that does sound pretty interesting. oh well, there's plenty of cool stuff coming out next year that I won't lose too much sleep if I don't get new macross.

megs is looking pretty nice there! thanks for the pics. Hopefully they'll ask kawamori to make some modifications so we can all batty and moan about this one too. -
wife is getting me mine for christmas... so good times for me
-
that would be sweet.. make it like one of those highschool comdey/drama type shows like love hina and have the jenius family go on crazy wakky adventures and end each arc with a big concert! muahaha

hate to break it to you, but the plot of: reckless but talented hotshot versus stuffy by the book hard worker isn't exactly a new plot. The myth of cain and abel is pretty much the same story, substituting farming for flying around in jets. a more recent example would be: star wars: han solo and luke skywalker I'm sure there are more, but I wanna watch heroes now.

I'm not sure why people think that mac plus is somehow less deserving of praise because it was a more or less self contained story. It had an interesting cast of characters, a pretty decent plot and great action. I loved mac plus, it was the main reason why I got back into macross in general.
-
huh, that's interesting. why would kawamori have the nick name listed in print form?
-
it would be nice if the powers that be can take this anniversary and really push macross back into the spotlight. Considering how much of an influence it had, it's sad to see macross in the outskirts of fandom. But if all we get is a few t-shirts and a coffee mug, I guess i can live with that too.

what are you talking about? do you bother to keep track of your own arguments? first you blast mac 7 for having fantasy elements and not conforming to your snobby views on sci-fi, babbling on about how macross could have been sci-fi or whatever, now you're babbling on about einstein and relativity? What, did you stay up late last night watching the national geographic channel? macross 7 takes ideas from macross and runs with it.. explores it further. maybe you don't like it, that's fine. But your pseudo-intellectual ranting about physics and fanboy-ism is just whiny and confusing.. but worst of all, they're tired retreads, endless parroting of other people's more insightful and better thought out comments. BTW, I'm not a fan of macross 7 either, I just think it sucks less than macross II... which has nearly everything you dislike about macross 7. But then, mac II is a tired retread of macross and so I guess it makes sense why you would feel so strongly about it, since you're unable to have an original thought yourself.
-
bah, not this tired retread arguement of "sci-fi" versus science fiction. 1. As stated before, any high enough level of tech will seem like magic. 2. there are plenty of naturally occuring forces that we can measure that we don't understand. It's the height of arrogance to say that because we currently do not have access to or understand a force that such a thing is "fantasy" 3. You have already accepted the concept of 50 ft tall giant humans ( biologically impossible) why is it so hard to accept other equally fantastical creations? And finally, your posts makes no sense. Either Macross is "mushy sci-fi" or it isn't. Don't complain about something macross never tried to be.

so called star mirage? why is it so called when it's listed by that name in the design works?

along with MP SS, i got my 0a today as well! this guy is great. Joints are sufficiently tight, feet extend and lock into place and the head sculpt is just too cool. I love how well it fits in fighter mode.
-
this aspect of the show always struck me as silly... people in the military spend a great deal of time doing upkeep and maintanence. a military force that has to carry extra weapons or leave the front line to restock instead of maintaining what they have is just inefficient and vulnerable.

Transformer Starscream Masterpiece has arrived!

I started with that center back plate.. but one of the big problems is that there's a panel line right through one of the joints where the "c" portion matches up with the rest of the plate... and that joint happens to be where the whing folds back against the body. I don't know if I would go so far as to cut up the shoulder joints even though that's what I was thinking on my lonesome when I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't sit flush. but I do thank you for that link -
I can't believe we've totally moved on from the ever inflamatory stance that the valks in II were the crap and onto comparing the villains... Where Mac II really shines with the blatant gundam meets sabertooth rip off mechs and generic baddies complete with non-sensical facial tattoos. Mac 7's villains fit perfectly into the macross ideology of villains who are not necessarily villains but people who have perspectives and priorities different from the antagonists... of course with the big bad behind it all who is rightfully the big bad.

Transformer Starscream Masterpiece has arrived!

Well, picked up my MP SS today from www.tmpanime.com. The toy is very impressive, ingenious transformation sequence, tons of detail and very pretty. I do have the same issues that most everyone has been having though. namely, the plastic is a little brittle, the joints in the wings are showing stress cracks after one transformation and the arms dont sit flush in fighter mode... I think there's extra material in the should joint keeping it from folding flush. Unfortunately, I think I'll have to choose a mode and display him that way. -
my list, which a jumble and mix of shows and movies, and in no particular order... many of these would be ranked equally at #1 but with different reasons if i were forced to rank them. macross Nausica Escaflowne Ghost in Shell Eureka 7 Melancholy of Haruhi Cowboy Bebop Neon Genesis Evangelion Full Metal Alchemist gundam
