I really really hope they don't go down this road. From Dune to Terminator, this rise of the machine thing has really been played out. I say they just put the three laws of robotics into every AI and be done with it.

I think mac plus characters are very relevent with real character arcs: all three characters are closed off emotionally due to what happened between them and each of them look to fill that hole: isamu: reckless adrenaline junkie, not willing to confront guld's crime out of loyality. myung: lowered sense of self worth, attempts to fill that void through sharon guld: sublimates his own guilt and shame and subconsciously tries to make things right by winning myung and beating isamu. it's not as defined as SDF or as drastic as mac 7, but each character is forced to confront the past and move forward.

macross didn't *need* a sequel, the story tied up nicely. But' they made a big universe, I don't see any problem with exploring it further.

I can't say I'm impressed so far. hopefully the fast packs themselves will have some cool gimmicks to make them worth it.

a friend of mine is pretty involved in the production work of films and television for the japanese market. From my numerous conversations with him regarding the state of movies and anime with him, I gather the impression that most creators are concerned only with how their projects will do in the japanese market. Some projects are made with numerous markets in mind ( joint projects with other nations) but these are rare.. apparantly there just isn't enough money where producers are willing to gamble on foreign markets.

I'm struggling between nostalgia (my first macross toy purchases as an adult) and greed (ditch them now while I still can)... I think I'm going to go with greed.

wow... that trailer was so bad.. forgetting the CG, the voice acting and the dialogue, just the action sequences shown seemed so stiff and boring. robots fhanging in space and shooting brightly colored toothpicks at each other never looked so bad or so fake.

wow... that's a seriously ridiculous price! makes me wanna toss all my yammie boxes and store them more efficiently... haha... but then again, if yammies ever hit a grand a piece, I might want to sell some off.

well, with isamu we see him walking away from myung and guld and living with the stigma of "traitor" in order to protect guld's psyche... for me, that made him a pretty strong person.

well enough then. To me, the yamato has better porportions between the neck and the body... looks better overall. But I can see how the longer neck is appealing as well, especially when seen from the side. To each their own, I guess.

I can't say I agree with you, I find the SHE model to be blocky around the body and stubby looking with an elongated neck. It looks more like a frying pan to me than a jet.

That fanmade is pretty sweet. for me, it's the graphic on the inside of the leg that really sells it. This is a pretty sweet repaint, I'd love to get it, but my money is already pegged for the yf-19.

dave - I think that bit above the wing is there because of the way yamato designed the legs. in the line art, the leg sits underneath the wing. In the toy, the wing root sits along the leg... maybe this is the reason for the leg bend, to accomodate the wing root? in any event, unless it ends up the leg armor has the missile launcher bit, I think I'm going to pass on the FP. There's not enough there that I can justify the price and Graham's hints of wallet shock has me turned off. IMO, they should release the FPs WITH the yf-19 (specially for what they're asking) and sell the fold booster as a cheap add after the YF-21 comes out (which I am assuming it does).

bah, I'm actually seriously considering putting my CF vf-0 on ebay now. I've been a pretty strident supporter of yamato but this is just such an under handed thing to do. I probably would have bought both types, if yamato had come out and just said there would be both types, or if they had staggered the release but for the to deny the shin type existing and then release pictures of it so soon after the CF type went on sale... I don't know what to say.. it's like a slap in the face to me.
