  1. I voted for the 0a. Even with the new reports of breakage... imo, it looks awesome in all three modes and looks spot on with the anime. it was tough though, the yf-19 just looks amazing as well.
  2. even if there was a reflection, it would be pretty subdued, you should still see form shadow on the gun pod.
  3. yeah. that would help as well, but I think the selection can still be softer. I wonderif you could even add some noise to the VF to make it work a little better with the background pic, which has a lot of grain to it.
  4. oooooh... more eye candy! wolfx, that yf-19 looks great all stickered up and detailed like that.

ouch, that's a nasty break. maybe it's time to put my VF-0's away until those recast arms come out.
  6. it's from the movie. tfw2005.com has a bunch of pics.
  7. I'm still waiting for mine from twin moon anime, but I'm already thinking I should get another one.
  8. I'm sure if you do a search on this site, you'll find all the info you would ever want on MPC versus 1/60 versus 1/48 VF-1's.
  9. feathering the selectin would help some... the VF is just too sharp compared to the rest of the shot. also, lacking shadow on the underside of the gunpod as well as cast shadows off of the landing gear. but it does look much better than the first pass!
  10. yeah, stealth comes with black/grey missile pods.
  11. I never said they were rubbing their hands. don't put words in my mouth.
  12. that makes me feel better. Why should any other Zero toy (other than the 0s) come in anime correct colors?
  13. nice customs! Great work on detailing the pilot to match. Let's see them in other modes pls.
  14. in RL, there are plenty of non combat training specific vehicles so again, the VT, has hands and a targeting computer. All it needs is a gunpod, which is an easy swap and can even be field loaded. Which is no different than a RL frontline unit having it's regular payload swapped out for a sensor pack and targeting laser. why is this so hard to imagine?
  15. !!!
  16. My point with macross and specifically Robotech, is that it opened the door in america and europe of animation being an acceptable medium to tell mature or adult stories. Not necessarily that it was the ambassador of anime in general. As popular as speed racer was and remains, I don't think people regard that as anything more than a beloved children's cartoon show.
  17. okay, I agree with that. I just don't think there will be a fix reissue coming out as quickly as with thr 1/72 yf-19.
  18. so true. Honestly, stuff like paint app flubs and individual parts not fitting perfectly don't bother me that much. I figure that in any process, random errors are bound to occur. My big big gripe is yamato blatantly lying to us, telling us that we're wrong about the VF-0 cannon fodder/shin thing, and then releasing the shin right after the cannon fodder. Anyways, back on topic... I considered cancelling my pre-order for the yf-19 as well over the gunpod thing. But the fixes out there seem easy and more or less unobtrusive... and give we still haven't seen a VF-0s reissue, I'm not positive there will be a Yf-19 reissue. And I have ZERO interest in a baby blue VF-19 version.
  19. what's with the massive squishy distortion going on in those pics? That 1/48 almost looks like an SD!
  20. I agree with AlphaOne. I would throw in the recent price hikes as well and the bait and switch with the whole 0a cannon fodder/shin thing. I'm not sure what to think, or do since I honestly love my yammies. Even though each one I own is unique with it's own quirks and faults.. which boggles my mind since 90% of the are repaints of one design.... I've resigned myself that I'm going to be boycotting the 0a shin, even though that's the release I wanted all along. I know my 200$ won't make much an impact on yamato's pocket book or their decision. But part of me hopes that they read this post. I have been a long time fan of the company and have been a pretty vocal supporter of them... I can't say I'll be doing that anymore. Their recent actions seem so short sighted and greedy.
  21. my stab at your questions: q1: Macross and Gundam were the first popular shows depicting giant robots as "real" mecha. The were simply machines, having no personality and had a set of rules that they followed. The human characters were the stars and focus of the shows and the mecha were merely props. q2: yes, I think robotech is widly regarded as opening the gates of anime into the western market. While some of us were already watching anime because of our background or ethnicity, imo, the general public got it's first real taste of anime with robotech. Of course, there were other anime on the air at or around thr same time... Voltron, Mazinger and other super robot shows. However, I think the case can be made that those shows were regarded by discerning viewers as "childish" or cartoons geared for younger viewers while robotech had a much more mature characters and storyline. I would say though, if you were to ask this same question to Asian fans, most would say that Gundam has the honor of truly breaking the real robot genre and of pushing science fiction anime into thr mainstream with it's character driven and politically heavy (and anti war) storyline. It's very possible that the only unique contribution Macross has had was the introduction of the tripple form transforming mecha. As for a live action version of macross... Well, I think the technology is here to be able to pull off transforming mecha and make it look real.. I think the real thing the producers need to keep in mind is that Macross is about the characters first and the mecha second. Much like other epic stories such as LoTR, Macross fundamentally portrays real people caught up against a grand background. Without having that human anchor, macross would quickly become another souless sci-fi CGI fest.
  22. hardy who appears un! that's horrible un!
  23. yup. busted for me as well
  24. heh, the first picks of the yf-19 doing that flying kick are too sweet.
  25. oo, the SD regult is uber cute. if you have some time, pls finish that one! and your GBP armor for the joke machine is stunning, but makes me sad for rohby's aborted project.
