Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return
eugimon replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
truly, megs is pretty diapointing. hopefully that's his protoform and he has a nicer looking earth form. -
please don't reissue the M&M set!... I would be forced to buy more 1/48s and I really want to avoid that for a while.
-
early next week!!! woohoo!
-
yes yes, everyone drags out that fan video as some sort of proof that G1 rules. so where would his head be in car mode? inside the cabin. Hello prime, may I use your head as arm rest? And what about the other transformers? We have megs and soundwave with their magically dynamic size and mass. Ironhide's actual transformation is just plain wonky and again, where do all the limbs go in vehicle mode? For the autobots, most of them have the torso and legs folded up inside the cabin.
-
NB4M, with your replacement arms, do you think we'll be able to get stiffer shoulders out of it as well?
-
you got to admit that most people are pouring forth the hate because the designs are not more faithful to their cartoon counterparts. IMO, the original designs aren't going to translate to live action. Many of the cars are not going to make any sense interacting with people as most/all of the internal volume is taken up by legs and arms and heads and other bits. Sure people bring up Alt/BT line... but look at one in bot mode and tell me it won't look funny to see robots running on seats turned into feet or their torso's. I love my jaz BT, but if he were real, he would have leather seats as love handles. Even MPC convoy is wonky in car mode... he only has one seat for example and his passanger would have to sit cross legged in the cab. The transformers benefited from anime magic like no other.. magically dynamic size, volume and bulk appearing and disapearing, body parts materializing from no where or disapearing to no where.

the QC moanings on the 1/48 VF-1 line is kind of blown out of porportion, imo. I own several and haven't had any problems with mine. The 1/60 Vf-0 line can be hit or miss, the 0s has loose feet and joints and the 0a is seeming coming down with brittle shoulders. the 1/60 yf-19 has some minor quibles.. gun doesn't lie straight, the wings down quite fit right in fighter mode and some odd gaps here and there. if you can only get 1, I recommend the 1/48 line. Out of all of them, the 1/48s "fit" together the best, have sturdy and tight joints and use proven, high quality materials.

woot, picked up my yf-19 from twin moons today.. it's very nice, but man, the first time transforming the fuselage is a little nerve racking.
-
Thank you. And in fact the G2 convoy toy was a long nose truck.
-
true. let's be slavishly loyal to a 20 year old cartoon. I hope the movie has the part where the decepticons staple prime's arm to a skyscrapper.

okay, I think hugo weaving would be awesome.

it makes no sense. if you look at shoulder fast pack in the partial front view, it looks very much that the shoulder FP is NOT hollow. so there's no where for that rear calf armor piece to go. it's just wonky. on 2nd look, I think kawamori put the rear calf piece in for aesthetics. without it, the side leg FP piece would either have a large expanse that diverged from the leg near the knee where the calf actually cuts in, or he would have to design the side armor with that odd shape in mind and make it look kinda funky. So my theory is it serves no purpose, other than as a cheat so kawamori could have his smooth oval shaped fast packs and not have an odd gap in the rear of the leg/calf.
-
sorry, no scanner so I took some pictures. The first picture shows the back of the unadorned yf-19. the second shows it with fast packs and I tinted the area in question in blue.
-
aggressively stupid! hahaha, that's an awesome phrase.
-
aw sad, it was playing at a theater near me, but I missed it. Guess I'm going to have to wait till the DVD
-
agreed, if they couldnt be bothered to design it right the first time, they should make "correct" parts available to their customers at no charge. and for those of us not in japan... I'm sure they could send the correct number of parts to large resellers like twin moons for distribution.
-
yeah, I see it too now. There's an extra little bit right below the knee joint on the pic with the fast packs that's not there on the drawings without it.

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid
eugimon replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
agreed, to compare the CG in this latest robotech to starfighter is to do a huge injustice to starfighter. Starfighter actually created the illusion of movement... the CGI in robotech really fails at this in many of the shots shown in the trailer. -
in mac zero, they mention that the skin of the valks have some sort of energy transfer technology called swag. takes kinetic energy and transfers it magically into the structure of the material, increasing its durability. Which is why valks can crash into building, cut cars in half with their wings... stuff like that. I don't know if we're ever told what material the ammunition is actually made up of, but I would assume that since the SWAG armor would be fairly well known, that a suitably dense material was used that could penetrate it. Kind of like how modern day deplete uranium slugs are used against modern armor. Or perhaps it's even a limitation of the swag technology? maybe it's good at converting large dispersed impacts but bad at handling extremely localized trauma?

but not for the hello kitties? -
I would still say no. I like panel lines, sometimes... but more often, I'd rather leave them unadorned.
-
I'm hoping the enigma scheme will be on the non-cannon VF-1s release... not that there will be one, but it looks like each model is getting a non cannon release.

Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return
eugimon replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
it looks like everyone likes the little roleplay bots. For me, I dig them because they seem so reminicent of the roleplay G1 toys. -
you lie! I bought 200k worth and have them stashed in a special stasis chamber buried in my backyard. I'll sell them to you guys in 20 years at 10x the cost! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. And no, I won't take pictures to prove my claim... because.. uhm.. the flash would disrupt the stasis field...
