Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
eugimon replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
they're not. You can see the wings in the battroid CAD -
they're supposed to reconfigure the projector when switching back to 2D. If you're getting a blurry image it's because they're not doing that.

oh, the fins didn't stick out on the back in the DX. So, that's a change for those of us who never owned the model.
-
They always folded back, along the leg, that's the way the transformation is supposed to work. The side cover lifts up, the fin folds back and the cover goes back down. Sticking out in the back is a bit new, but it's something I can live with for having it finally look right in fighter mode.

Word of advice to vf-19 owners the ball joint on the ankles does have a more limited motion than one might think, considering it's a ball joint. If you force it to go further than it wants, you will open that ball socket up and the joint will loosen. Luckily there are two screws hidden on the feet, you can take the screws out and open up the cup slightly and pop the feet off. The "ball" is actually a plastic piece that pops onto the metal ankle peg, so you can apply your thickening agent of choice and pop everything back together again.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Sorry to hear that's been your experience. I have to say my copy is holding up really well. The joints that were a little loose out of the box, like the knee ratchets, remain so, but the other joints haven't loosened up any. I'm still really enjoying it and will definitely be picking up a the other variants... especially if a Ride type comes out. -

Cool, more vf-1 kits... please release one in the vf-x grey though. -
meh, all movie sword fighting is historically inaccurate to actual medieval sword fighting to begin with. And since middle earth isn't even supposed to be medieval europe... carry on though, someone needs to be mad about something, might as well be this.

And yet weapon fetishism is alive and well in the writings of Tolkien... as it was in much of the legends and myths that Tolkien drew from when writing of middle earth.

I'm pretty sure Thor is getting a proper sequel, though Kenneth Branagh won't be coming back as director (apparently an amicable and mutual decision). And I know they were already talking about how any Captain America sequel could still have WWII flashbacks, so as long as this movie does well a sequel should be coming.

As opposed to the vf's which are exactly the same except for the head? While the destroids may share some commonality in the legs (there are differences actually) they are 100% different on top, with no shared parts, even the pilots are different. Ultimately, your argument comes down to, " it doesn't transform, so it should be cheap" and that's really not the driving factor in costs.
-
Also, while a destroid isn't as "complex" in terms of transformation. The total number of parts is still comparable to a valkyrie. And the molds and aren't going to be any cheaper just because the finished product doesn't turn into a jet.
-
Saw it, liked it. Didn't like it as much as Thor or X-Men. Thought the did a pretty good job with it, especially considering I was never much of a Captain America fan to begin with.

The Amazing Spider-Man, on Blu-Ray/DVD Nov. 9, 2012
eugimon replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I liked the trailer, movie looks good so far... I mean, raaaAAAaage, I'm so angry about the stitching on the costume! -
meh, I like my cylon cube.
-
I definitely agree with that. I'm always going to prefer sturdier cases over cardboard but I have the BSG set and the aliens set and I haven't had any issues with either.
-
I got the aliens box set, no problems with the discs. The cardboard has a high gloss finish. There's no reason why it should damage the discs unless you're really trying to.
-
besides, the early video reviews show that the dual mode prime is pretty fiddly when built and might have some fragility issues. It doesn't look like that kit would be that forgiving to kit bashing of that magnitude.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The engine bits clip on over and around the nacelles, the little winglets aren't what's carrying the weight of the add-on. -

I don't see why they would, the wings are retracted for the fast packs. I'd be more concerned that there's enough friction on the nacelle pivot joint to hold up all the extra weight. edit: wow, those hip joints got loose really quickly. Picking it up in battroid causes the legs to swing freely. -

Wait, what are you talking about? The wing mounted engine nacelles? Those are clearly clip ons. You can see the add-on bit on the previous page and in these pics you can see how they fit over the existing wing engine nacelles and how the engines are peaking out. -
Looking great, can't wait. Though I do hope Peter Jackson lays off the wilhelm scream this time around. Nothing jerks me right out of a movie in quite the same way that does.
