  1. I don't see anything wrong with this. Why should animation be limited by the physical constraints of a 7" toy? G1 transformers was all over this.. since many G1 characters have only a passing resemblance to their toy counterparts.
  2. First, you're the one who started comparing movie toys to past TF incarnations. I picked Beast wars as a point of reference because both beast wars and the movie are CGI. Is this too obtuse for you to figure out? But if you want to compare more recent shows to their toy counter parts, go ahead. I guarantee you won't get a perfect match up between toy and cartoon... which is what you're demanding of the movie toys. Do they look similar? sure they do, can you tell what character they are at first glance? Sure. and from the pics we've seen of prime, black out, megs and ratchet, they all look like their movie counterparts. Do they have all the little mechanical bits modeled out? Nope, but then you don't seem to have a problem with this simplification of form with anything else, macross or even TF. why does it bother you so much that these movie toys do the same thing? Take the Vf-1 for example. According to your standards, this is a suck design right? Since nobody has managed to make a toy 100% faithful to the animation? Righ? The old 1/55 have swing bars, that's a HUGE difference to the animation. The 1/60s have legs that detach which is 90% correct, but they don't have the transfer mechanism. The 1/48s have a new wing bar system, but that's not right either. So the VF-1 is a horrible, impractical and bad design that only morons would like, right? Secondly, how do you know what the move transformations will be? From the trailer? From the .5 second shot of the back of primes head? So, because the back of prime's head has moving bits that the toy doesn't, the whole toy fails? Even if the rest of the transformation matches? If you have some inside information on the transformation sequence of prime or blackout or any of the bots, lets see it. Put up or shut up. So far, you've just ran your mouth with your hyperbole fanboy spewage, without bothering to back up a single thing you've said. And again, this all goes back to you pushing your subjective and ill informed tastes down other people's throats and calling them morons if they don't happen to agree with what you deem cool.
  3. truly, he makes me like postively magnanimous in comparison.
  4. Which "a lot" of BW toys would this be? Optimal optium wasnt, his shoulder cannons weren't anything like they were in the cartoon. The cheetah dude was only remotely like his cartoon counterpart. and what about rattrap? Every single toy short changes their animated counter part. The question is, does the movie prime look like his movie counterpart? Is there some big part of him that's different? like his legs? or his torso? nope. minor details may be different but he looks like the CGI. Same with jazz, ratchet, and blackout. I just like picking on fanboys.
  5. right, and the cartoons are so faithful to the toysm right? like the beast wars toys, looked exactly like the cartoon right? even though those were CGI renders? Here's a lesson in making arguements. When you make a statement that claims something to be true, anyone contradicting only needs to prove one instance that disproves your statement to render your entire arguement false. In this case, your claim is entirely subjective, as you have yet to submit any sort of rational reasons why SS is bad.
  6. agreed. unfortunately, what adults think of as cool and what adults think kids think of as cool can be pretty different.
  7. Maybe yamato should sell their valks as "kits?"
  8. heh, i have something in mind, but I think I'll be keeping my avatar for a while...
  9. well, if chicks are saying you have a "peg" ... I don't think the problem is with the chicks.
  10. HAH... i have never been nice and cuddly. just ask Jenius But seriously, prom's moron comment really rubbed me the wrong way. Which made the rest of his "comic book guy" post just seem all the more ridiculous. BTW, i really dig your new avatar
  11. I'd like to know as well... are the issues QC issues? Are they issues where people are forcing parts and causing the cracks? <-- back pack hinge on 1/48. Or is it people mistransforming and then blaming yamato? <-- claims of the VF-0 gunpod touching the ground in fighter mode when it was actually people not storing the arms correctly. As for me, I haven't gotten the stress marks on the sides of fuselage that some people have posted. I can transform the fuselage just fine and haven't done surgery. My canards snap into place just fine (yes, the wiggle a little bit but they're hardly floppy)
  12. 1.Worst toy ever: If you think movie SS is the worst transformer toy ever... well, you obviously must not have been around for the first 20 years. 2. Morons: American kids are morons, thank you for your keen insight. 3. Bad Designs: how are they obviously bad designs? Please, explain. Let's hear an insightful critique into what makes them so bad. 4. Inability to be made into toys: I don't know, Prime, Megs and Blackout are getting some pretty amazing toy releases. The Cab mode of Prime looks more realistic than MP Convoy. And even the cheapy toy pics released have been getting positive feedback... such as the little roleplay TFs and Jazz and Ratchet look just as good as anything from Rid or Energon. So, I think your point is pretty baseless.

yeah, I think this is a big part of it. The other part of it is when you're posing the arm and you draw the arm across the shoulder or pull it back. If you take a look at the joint, the edge of the shoulder pieces braces against peg of the ball joint when you're moving the shoulder laterally. the ball then pushes against the wall of the cup causing it to crack or just fail completely.

ouch. sorry you had to join the busted VF-0 club.
  16. it's important to know what you're talking about mowe. continually calling it a QC issue lets yamato put the blame on their facotries and their labour. It also makes it sound like it's by chance some people get units without problems and some people get units that fall apart. When the majority of units have the exact same problem(s) it's no longer random flubs. Yamato's infamous spotty QC is a minor issue compared to the more serious issues of bad design and cheap materials.
  17. okay, can we PLEASE have a discussion on yamato without invoking Bandai? I've had plenty of crap from Bandai, including their much vaunted SoC line. I've had crap from Takara as well. So what? Comparing different products from different toy companies is a complete waste of time. Saying that a SoC or TF or whatever is more complex or less or whatever than a yamato and comparing prices is useless conjecture. We have no idea what the budgets were and how that affected the decisions made for each particular toy. And lets be clear... what we're experiencing is NOT quality control. We're experiencing the results of bad engineering and materials. Quality Control would be something like a valk shipping without accessories, or miss-matched parts or a bad paint application. Bad engineering is when say... parts start shattering a few months later, or parts don't fit together the way they should or accessories don't fit because someone didn't bother to check if the peg fit in the hole. None of the problems we're complaining about here has anything to do with some factory worker falling asleep on the job. It has EVERYTHING to do with some yamato manager or supervisor deciding to save a few bucks here and their at our expense.
  18. Looks great! Let's see some GERWALK poses!
  19. Ah..... yes, this is true... the VF-0s DOES suffer from a broken back. Though, I gave the pegs on the legs a little bit of a coat with nail polish and that helped lock it up a little tighter for me.

nice, good luck with the shoulders man.
  21. hardly. Fighter mode hides the weak spots of the VF-0s the best. You don't notice the thigh swivel to be all loose, you don't notice the weak shoulders, or the loose bicep swivels, the floppy backpack and the feet lock IN just fine... they just don't lock out. Considering this, I think fighter mode is the BEST mode on the VF-0s simply because it's the only mode that does leave you with a floppy, loose and cracking mess.

don't hate yourself. just get one when the 2nd release comes out and they fix all the bloody mistakes. That's what I'll be doing... then I'll own 3 of them, well, 1... and 2 big piles of spare parts.
  23. The rohan are not men of the west, they're northerners. The plains lie above Gondor And there is this HUGE mountain range seperating Rohan from Gondor and Ardor... They clearly showed this in the movie. The EVEN showed you a finger going over a map, so you could see this in the movie. The elves do get wiped out, even the commander dude dies (remember Theoden and Aragorn holed up in the great hall and theoden crying that they lost?) and even when Elrond comes to aragorn with reforged sword of elendiel, he comes alone. (this is different in the movies then in the boo ) and the movie shows the rest of rivendale fleeing to the grey havens, abandoning middle earth. And again, the movie shows the mines of moira completely decimated and over run by goblins and a balrog (this would be another instance where you're supposed to be able to put two and two together... why would the dwarves just let a key city get overrun?) The movie and the books focuses on the fellowship of the ring... it shows you snipets of what's going on as a whole, you're supoosed to figure it out. Think back to how massive the alliance was at the beginning of Fellowship and how puny the armies of Gondor and Rohan are by the time Return of the King rolls around.. you're supposed to be able to connect the dots (the dots being dozen or so times Elrond, Gandalf and other leaders talk about how the humans/dwarves/elves can't get their act together, how rohan wasn't being supported by gondor, how the dunedain got wiped out). Again, if you want to focus on the skin color only, then thats fine.. however if you want to complain about the movies, I suggest actually watching all of it.
  24. please no, we need someone who can actually look good fighting and handling weapons,, not just good half naked.
  25. Please, I'm anxious on this topic as well...
