  1. I think it looks very good compared to the older models. looks like the figure will have way more posability and I like the little details like the thigh armor acutally connecting to the calf armor. though, given how craptacular my alpha is, I think I'll be waiting on this one.
  2. to accomodate the wing root going across the middle of the legs in fighter mode. The leg FP would look right wonky in battroid mode if they didn't do the beng thing. Blame kawamori's magical line art for this.
  3. so, why is this worth 50 bucks?
  4. could you imagine if it was done with inlaid bits of dark wood for say the chest stripes and wing stripes? mmm... Though, I think the chunky monkey design may be easier to pull off.
  5. bah, metal is so 1980's... I want to see a 1/48 valk carved out of a nice wood... like teak or maple.
  6. I actually agree with graham that the stuff being brought up here are not "major" problems... but I think what you said hits the bullseye! There's a quite a few "little" problems for a toy that costs so much money.
  7. I'd second this request. ABS is just a cheap plastic and doesn't handle mechanical stresses very well. Durability and longevity should be more important than modability... these things are toys first and foremost. And while I love a good custom as much as the next guy, I would rather have joints that don't break.
  8. point taken. I would then suggest that you should have written THAT as your reply, as "don't be hate'n" can sound dismissive of his whole post, when the first part of it is spot on.
  9. while flying turd may not be the best way to put it, he has a point. Yamato chaged an awful lot to have parts failing. And while I understand that those of us not in japan are not going to get customer service from yamato for these macross toys... the breakages in 3 major yamato releases, and their rising prices makes me rethink any future toy purchases from them.
  10. Can yamato make the replacement VF-0 parts available at no cost to large e-retail people like Twin Moons? Will yamato give VF-0s owners the garland treatment and just outright replace them?
  11. nah, never means nothing to yamato. I bring up the whole VF-0a shin type thing as an example.
  12. I want a low viz 1s scheme... preferably the enigma. that will probably be the last 1/48 I get.
  13. yeah, I'm actually not worried about those stress marks. the very nature of that part means that the plastic is going to give and take a little and as long as the user doesn't try to force the legs down too far, there shouldn't be a problem.

at this point, I would say we should take what yamato says about breakages with a big old grain of salt. like the size of a cowlick.

uhm... you think yamato's problems are because they took out diecast? Please explain this insight of yours.

it's alanis morrisete ironic. She freaking ruined that word for a whole generation.
  17. my clips have the same stress marks. the landing gears, I wouldn't worry about.
  18. heh, first time I saw someone display the boxes in glass shelves.

it's ass backwards is what it is. Graham went to bat for us and got yamato to make changes and offer replacements. i understand that this guy is upset, but yelling at graham, who is going out of his way to help us, is just lame.

ABS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABS_plastic POM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyoxymethylene from what I gathered, pom seems to be a harder plastic used in higher tensile stress environments.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm think of just ordering something from HLJ and have them include the replacement arms. I still think yamato should just outright replace the VF-0s though. given it's other problems and the shoulder issue, they should do right by those of us who bought it. At the very least, just give us new lower legs and a back pack that actually stays up in battorid mode.

hopefully, this won't be the case. yamato usa just shipped me a new garland, I'd rather yamato japan do the same. I'll pay for the shipping, but I want the replacement parts at no cost.
  23. bah, I agree with bob. when a manufacturer puts out a product that has mechanical failures, due entirely to their own negligence, typically, they repair or replace the merchandise. I don't see why yamato should be any different. If they need to fix somthing, they shouldn't charge us again to do it. I put down 200 bucks for a complete toy, not a model, or a DIY kit.

ah, this is good news. thank you graham for your hard work and diligence. I suppose it's time for me to change my avatar... well, maybe in a month or so. **well, this puts me in a tough spot. I've dealt with twin moons almost exclusively for a while now. But right now, it looks like they won't be able to get these replacement shoulders... which makes me nervous for future releases... like the SV-51. So if shopping with HLJ is the only way to ensure I get customer service, then unfortunately, that's what I'm going to have to do.
  25. hmmm... macross fans = suckers of the collectible toy market?
