Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
better come with magic face plate or will rage! RAGE -
thinking about getting the kit for my alpha trooper but since my kid has re-appropriated my gun and stuck me with his vortex vigilon, I'm not so sure I want him to have such a huge arms advantage...

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
eugimon replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
We didn't get a whole lot of the kai either, actually. We got a couple in fighter mode and then it was quiet for a long time. Actually, yamato has never been really forthcoming with prototype pics. Usually we get a CAD or two early on, then a couple of resin pics and then nothing until very soon to release date. -

No, you're right. The wings are supposed to come out of the middle of the back, not up high. The v.1 looked a little wonky because the back plate didn't fold down flat in battroid but the actual placement of the wings is, more or less, correct.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie

you should totally do video reviews in the style of Deadliest Warrior. Special weapons, opening missile hatches! While the vf-19 has two, the yf-29 has 6, giving it the edge! -
Don't you remember the angst, the bitterness, the anger over yamato selling a hikaru 1a AND a 1s? And all the people *demanding* yamato sell the vf-1 with all three head types? Folk here will always complain about something.

not just that, he was a master strategist who play batman like a violin, wearing him down physically and mentally to the breaking point, long before he broke bat's back.

No Dude, this is what you're doing. Thundercats makes references to the first show. It shows bits of ro-bears, it talks about spaceships, it talks about an ancient war with mumm-ra. unless they actually show flashbacks of the first war and show that it isn't lion-o alpha, there's nothing to say that this isn't a sequel (a'la superman returns) and not a hard reboot (the new BSG). But whatever dude, I'm sure condescension and snark are worth, like, 2 bazillion internet points, so have fun with that.

meh, Superman Returns wasn't 100% faithful to the continuity of Superman 2, but it's still considered a sequel and not a reboot. All they need is some line about how the original eye of thundera was destroyed and a new one crafted. And they go out of their way to allude to the original series, even showing a ro-bear berbil hand, not to mention all the references to spaceships, the original war against mumm-ra, etc.

I saw it. It had both cowboys and aliens, so it totally delivered on that. I had a good time. It's not the greatest thing ever but there was enough there for me to enjoy myself.

ah. Cool. edit: Okay, so I finally got a chance to watch ep 1. I dunno, I think it's definitely a sequel, maybe set thousands of years into the future but the references they make to how the thundercats defeated mum-ra, how there used to be flying ships, etc, make it seem like it's a sequel and not a true reboot.

Did they say that it's a reboot? Because it makes perfect sense as a sequel.

yeah, they definitely swing out and locks the peg into the leg. A much nicer design and this means that the full armor version won't break the toy.

Well, my kid and I were having so much fun with his vortex gun that I picked up an alpha trooper as well. I can confidently say that in terms of performance, the stock the vortex fires a lot farther and a lot more accurately than the darts.

Nope, I love them.

No, they're bouncing. I bought one of these guns for my kid. The rounds are a harder foam than in the darts and there's a plastic center for rigidity. There's not much drift but they do bounce off of things really well and tend to roll when they hit the ground.

yup. And the thing that collectors today don't seem to take into account is that back in the 50's, 60's - 80's, people weren't collecting stuff. So the few items that made it through the decades in good condition were rare because most people, gasp, read their comics, traded their baseball cards, played with their toys. Now, everybody bags and boards their comics, saves boxes and stickers, etc. So even if we ignore what's going on in the world economy, there's just a lot more of this stuff out there that's in good condition and that will keep prices down. If you want to invest, toys are not the best place to put your money.

Well, as it relates to the movies, DC is keeping all their movies separate. No shared universe, so even if a JLA movie gets made, it won't be Nolan's batman or Ryan Reynold's GL. Different actors, different continuities. JLA will be one movie-verse and each of the stand alone franchises will be unique to each other and JLA.

it's completely different. And as a guy who owns 2 yf-19 toys and 1 vf-19 toy, I would never buy another yf-19 based on the current design. The vf-19 is better in every way.

Everyone can choose to enjoy life how they want. For me, if I know I'm going to hate something, I just don't see it. But if other people want to spend their time by going to see something they hate and then devote hours, days, even years of their life talking about how much they hate it... more power to them. Personally, I don't see the appeal of that, but to each their own.

Looks a lot better than I thought it would. I'm sure I'll have a good time while watching it and have even a better time reading all the grief posted by bitter snobs later on.

but you're okay with a magical serum that doesn't just act like a super steroid but a DNA altering properties that can completely rebuild a body in seconds? Personally, being able to bottle up "energy" in fancy batteries is a lot more believable.
