if it's not your cup of tea, that's too bad. Hopefully the great vending machine will give you something you do like next. I'm just saying that the RPG "purists" who go and on about how the ME series is not an RPG are nothing but raving fanboys.

I see people post that, all the time on the bioware FB page, on game blogs like joystiq. Whenever there's a story about ME and now DA, those tired old horses get dragged out and hit a few more times. But they never have an actual argument about why you're not ROLE playing in ME. All of the hate I see comes down to: combat mechanics: it's skill based, not virtual dice based inventory: not enough loot armor and weapons: not enough customization. None of those things make the game more or less about role playing. The other argument I see a lot is that the end game is scripted. Okay... every single bioware game, ever, has a scripted end game. How you get there is up to you but it's not like at the end of KOTOR you can decide to just go to dagobah and build a hut. Bioware tells stories and uses the medium of a game to do that. If they're not hip to that yet... *shrug*.

Super Star Destroyer Kits/Toys/Etc
eugimon replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
good lord, way too big to own but it pleases me just to know it's out there. -
That's what I was getting at. Seems to me the haters think that an rpg needs to be turn based and have a tedious loot/inventory system to be good. So I'm always curious to see what new bit of different they've latched themselves onto to whine and complain about.

more off topic! John Woo style! -
Don't take this the wrong way but I'll forever trust Nolan's taste over *anything* you pick any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Opens August 5.

just came back from seeing it. Had a great time, it surprised me how much I enjoyed it despite having initially passed it off as "resident monkey". Loved all the homages to the original movies. -
Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
stop transforming it... or touching it. Actually, you probably shouldn't have taken it out of the box... -
If your argument is going to be they shouldn't release it until it's "perfect" then get ready for a whole lot of nothing. Anyways, enjoy your hobby.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That's the way they are. IF you *try* to move them back more you will open up the socket and make the joint incredibly loose... unable to stand upright loose. -
The peroxide dip is temporary though. You're just breaking up the pigments in that exposed layer of plastic but you're also pitting/destabilizing the plastic itself. In the long run you'll make it more susceptible to yellowing. As in, it's great if you want to do it to an older, heavily yellowed toy to get some more miles out of it, but it might not be worth it to do it a newer toy.

No, it's just for painting. There's a scheme I'd like to try but it requires the base valkyrie to be grey. So many parts run or slide up against each other on these things that painting everything and being able to transform it without damaging the paint job is pretty much impossible.
-
In grey please!

There's definitely cool moments in the movie, but if you look at it with the same critical eye you use to look at the bayformer movies, you have to admit it suffers many of the same faults.

Nope. I laugh when I hear fanboys talk about how great that movie is compared to the new live action movie. The g1 cartoon was horrible, the movie was better but it's still a disjointed, "and then", story that meanders from one set piece to another in order to sell toys.

But you know, the movie doesn't say whether it was flynn who made the games in the new grid or if it was clu who did it. As for people cheering for the games when they didn't want to compete, how is that different from the gladiators in the past or war today? How many people wave little flags and call for war but have never served or would want their children to serve? Violence is entertaining, as long as the violence isn't being done to you. I think it's a universal truth.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
eugimon replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The ankle ball joint on the vf-19 is actually metal+plastic. The upper half of the ball and ball joint is plastic but the lower half is actually plastic which is pegged and glued onto the metal. The problem with the joint happens when people force it forwards or backwards and the peg actually forces the socket to spread apart (the socket is made out of two halves that are screwed together). Doing this isn't enough to damage the socket but it is enough to open it up a tiny bit, causing severe looseness (it won't hold a pose). So don't worry. If you don't stress the joint, it will last just fine. -

Don't force the ankle ball joint! You'll look at it and figure it can move around more but if you force it, you'll open up the socket and then the ankle joint will be incredibly loose. -
I'm guess she's still in the midst of getting the tech she needs to be fully "catwoman". I'm sure Nolan won't have her in a skin tight, purple, body suit at any point but he was still faithful to batman's costume as well as the costumes of the other characters like Joker and Scarecrow so I have faith she'll be in cat ears by the end of the movie. here's another shot of her
