so... spend a total of 450 dollars for transforming toys that you can't transform?
  2. Using the force to wipe out planets actually makes sense the way the Force is conecptualized.. it binds everything together, so why couldn't some one use it to wipe out whole populations, or even planets? It seems far more reasonable to me than the death star, actually.
  3. well, it's strongly implied that it's PC in origin. AFOS says it was left by the people who made humans, to make sure humans were nice and sweet before they hit the stars. In previous shows, we know that humans were engineed by the protoculture. So while it's not spelled out, it's a pretty clearly implied relationship. And while you're right, there could have been further or earlier genetic tinkering by someone/thing else other than protoculture... well, there's absolutely no evidence to support that claim. Nor does it makes sense from a story telling perspective. Why lay down all this mythology and background and then suddenly come in and change it all? It makes more sense to continue to develop what was already started, what has been explored in SDFM, DYRL and M7. Also, very little of PC's technology has actually been seen, and since they were masters of genetic manipulation, it's not unreasonable that their technology would have a very organic feel.
  4. yet the trailer has you fighting storm troopers and apparantly assaulting a star destroyer, so maybe there's more to the story then you can sum up in a sentence.
  5. I wonder if they'll go with whole dino-bot angle at all. I'm thinking not so much.
  6. Those are some good points. I don't think sci-fi fans have problems with unexplainable mystical powers, namely, the force. So I agree with you that the cheesy light effects went a long way to turning off fans. And I'm not trying to start a flame war, but I think the Basara character also made a lot of people automatically against the spirita force, since he's such a divisive character. If going forward, Spirita is portrayed more in the style of M0 and less M7, I'll be okay with it. I actually didn't mind the floating rocks. After Empire Strikes Back, floating rocks are just par for course.
  7. Oooh, that does look nice. I really like the WWII influence, in fact, if yamato were to do something like that (or that) for the VF-1s low viz scheme, I'd be thrilled.
  8. Probably, once Sony sees the sales dry up again. They'll probably release a 120 gig model in time for the holidays.
  9. so I guess I was kinda right, it's not a price drop, it's just sony trying to get rid of unsold stock, so they can replace it with new unsold stock.
  10. yeah, the slim is pretty cool. If I can find my psp, I might trade it in for one. Too bad I haven't played it since, uhm... uhm... uhm.. sine street fighter alpha. When was that, a year ago?
  11. gundam versus battletech huh? Should be fun, I'll be rooting for the battletech pilots.
  12. the problem is macross already had good gimmicks that seperated it from other real-mecha shows... things like character development, music, tripple form mecha. It didn't need spirita. I honestly think the original explanation for why the "love song" was effective was more than good enough and didn't need to be reinforced with this idea of emotional energy. But oh well, I have to agree with you, I think it's pretty obvious from M0 that spirita will be one of the pillars of Macross.
  13. that's been pretty standard in most SW games, I hope it continues too.
  14. protoculture weren't very creative?

what does the Wave thread have to do with the Vf-0's gimpy leg? are you saying we should use tack to just stick the foot in place?
  16. well with bandai USA backing HD-DVD, the contest isn't quite over yet.
  17. even giant space factories take time to build things, it takes time to train or retrain pilots, and even if they have those giant factories, raw resources are still limited.
  18. Well, I think Nintendo learned the lesson well, and they're taking it to the Bank. It's too bad Sony continues to leverage their brand name when that reputation has been tarnished somewhat, imo. And MS is just plain arrogant.

true. I think yamato should take into consideration assembly work-flow when designing these things. I think it would do a lot to resolve these sort of problems.
  20. you're mad, mad I say!

I would be wary. As long as the factory workers attach the shoulders to the body by "popping" them on, rather than assembling the two halves around the ball joint, you risk receiving a unit with stress marks, cracks or chips missing.
  22. I just find it odd that sony watched their PS3 sales basically stagnate until they dropped the price down, then overnight the PS3 starts selling out, and now they want to get rid of all that and go back to a 600$ SKU. Frankly, I don't think the 80 gig model is worth the 100$, especially without the emotion engine.
  23. meh, nicer than I thought, but still not that exciting. Hopefully the 50th aniversary scheme looks better. Maybe they can work on it a little longer than they did this one.
  24. I'd have to disagree, battroid looks pretty wonky. the head protrudes akwardly and the chest has a very severe angle to it. And with the wing lengths optimized for fighter, they hang down awfully low in battroid. I still think it looks amazing, and it's pretty ingenious, I'm just not keen on the battroid mode.
  25. yeah, I'm pretty excited for it, KOTOR is one of my favorite SW games, after Tie Fighter.
