  1. Well, I can think of a few reasons, extra stress on the already thin limbs being the main reason. But again, I'm not against it, I'm just at a loss why so many people are so fixated on it. To each their own, personally I think the yf-21 looks damn sad, like a gutted fish without its limbs so I have little to no interest in the gimmick.
  2. meh, i'm not against the idea, but I honestly don't get why so many people are getting hung up on this. I find the stowage of the gunpods and internal missile bays far more interesting then the detachable limbs, which is an easy enough mode if someone is so inclined.
  3. well, there could be some reasons... the zentradi likely benefited from more genetic tinkering that humans and a more robust genetic structure could have been designed into them. Or, they had a better original stock to choose from. The RL problem with cloning is that the genetic material used to start the clone already has had however many years of recombination errors and environmental damage done to it. The resulting clones maybe biologically one age, but their genetic integrity is a compounding of the host's and theirs. But if the PC had in mind to clone the zentradi from the start, they could have set aside a pure genetic sample, then the resulting clones wouldn't have that problem. Also, the zentradi may not have been interested in concepts like long life or quality of life and were simply not alive long enough for things like disease to bother them. We also don't know if they were spartan in their treatment of clones with disabilities. While modern humans would more or less be loathe to do mass kullings based on genetic weakness, I doubt the zentradi would have any such qualms.

  5. two more weeks? damn, I hope tam doesn't ship it while I'm out of the country...
  6. well, here's to hoping that the yf-21 doesn't come with the same feature.
  7. David can probably fact check this, but I thought that mig could also take off from a debris strewn runway just on those top vents. Anyways, the engines are still getting air, if from a slightly different route.
  8. I could take either. I thought last exile and zero did a great job with their textures but I love that SAC is able to mesh the hand-drawn stuff with the CGI so smoothly. I just want the hand drawn stuff to look nice and be consistant.
  9. Actually, it does look like SS is taking more than a page from the VF handbook. The jet nozels splitting in half to form the feet, the engine nacels swinging down to the nose cone to deploy for bot mode, the arms tucked away between the legs in fighter mode... too bad they couldn't figure out how to make him not look a giant heaping pile.
  10. *wonders to himself how to convince wife to let me buy a glass display cabinet for toys...*
  11. Team Autobots, GO! haha, that really felt like team titans, which is a good thing. I didn't care for the theme song though, my fanboy wish would be that PUFFY did it for this show too. And bumble bee's voice was seriously annoying.
  12. the vf-0 with it's conventional engines has to breath air at all times, since the engines provide electrical power as well as providing thrust, so it makes sense the shutters stay open.
  13. bah, the whole design is bullocks. I broke out my scott type alpha, and the leg locks won't even support the weight of thr toy anymore, the whole thing just collapses into a fugly blue midget after a few hours. And mine's been kept in fighter mode, in the box for the last two years because it annoyed me so much.
  14. at this point, it really doesn't matter really. I already bought the replacement arms, and short of yamato air mailing me a shiny set of machined aluminum replacement arms, there's just no way I'm buying any more VF-0 toys. It's a shame though, I really do like the VF-0, and would love to buy more, but they're just all ticking time bombs. The whole arm needs a redesign and better materials. The workers need to understand that they can't just "pop" the assembled shoulder onto the ball joint, as I'm 99.9% certain this is the intial cause of the stress marks and cracks. In the end, I'm just curious to see what yamato told graham.
  15. I agree with graham, gerwalk is the only mode that I really mind not having a lock. Battroid doesn't bother me nearly as much.
  16. *sobs quietly in the corner*
  17. wow, that's a great repaint. the detail work on his claws look amazing.. truly gives the impression of metal.
  18. I would be pretty happy if the animation was comparable to E7... and consistantly so. It would be flat out amazing if the animation were of the quality of the intro of the the VF-X games, but I doubt very much that we would see a series with that level.
  19. Now a toys'r'us ad: http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/29/xbox-36...d-toys-r-us-ad/
  20. ah, so they are. Thanks for the clarification.
  21. does it? I know the vf-22 has the little heat shields since the ports are larger, but I thought the yf-21 left them open. In anycase, I agree that we won't be seeing the shields, so bring on the rotating seat gimmick.
  22. the lead designer is the same guy who did teen titans.
  23. hmm, makes me wonder if the yf-21 will have the flipping cockpit gimmick like the VF-0? Since the yf-21 actually leaves the canopy exposed in battroid, it would be nice to see guld's little face staring back at me and not staring at the ground.
  24. yeah, that's the suit he makes to bust out of a POW camp, and later we see the current red and gold suit.
  25. nice! I love the belt drive along the thighs.
