so.. I'm wondering if the CF sv-51 will get the drop tanks and the daisy cutter, since it shouldn't get the booster packs, right?
-
I guess it could, though, there's precious little paint actually on our toys. I wonder how yamato would handle all the international toys if there were a recall.
-
I can wait a couple of extra days if it means not having to listen to BoB blow up for another 6 months.
-
I'm actually hoping the yf-21 comes with a stand. I'm doubting yamato will put ratchets in for the ankle joints and I'm recalling how wobbly the q-rau was/is to pose.
-
that's what I did. Not perfect. perfect would have been ratchets. but it helps.

I don't think it's that he looks older, but that he sounds older. All the youthfulness is gone out of his voice and he just sounds like a battle hardened badass.
-
Just to point it out, the line art doesn't show a heel joint either. The foot is always shown in a fixed pose and as one piece. The only articulation it has is in the ankle. The 1/72 had the joint there due to the collapsable leg for transformation.

either that, or simon will have a dream, and everyone will be in it and then he'll wake up and series will end.
-
meh, shoulders look fine to me. The yf-21 doesn't have bubble shoulders and while the small feet do bug, I can understand that big feet just aren't practical with design. I blame kawamori

like automated caretakers for the elderly and/or disabled, able to navigate stairs and dense urban settings without having to retrofit the home or surroundings? Or for use in dense urban or factory settings where a wheeled robot maybe too cumbersome or even dangerous to human counterparts? Search and rescue for building that don't have a bunch of ramps everywhere to allow access for wheeled vehicles. For robots designed to mobile that have a social interface component to their functions? Or full function prosthetics for amputees or people born with malformed limbs? Not everyone lives in urban sprawl with plenty of elbow room and big airy buildings. Much of the world lives in dense, vertically and horizontally complex buildings with lots of stairs. As the segway has shown, a wheel based locomotive system can be ineffecient when having to navigate shared space with other occupents. An efficient bipedal robot would be able to navigate such environments without having to retrofit the environment.

I'm also really liking the shape of the head cowl. A lot of the kitbashes around do an awful job of this feature and I'm glad to see yamato is continuing to be faithful to the line art.
-
bah, the previous post made it look really nice. there's definitely some camera related distortion going on.
-
I wasn't knocking your idea of the fowler wing flaps, I was just saying that the sliding nacelles was an intergral part of the transformation sequence.
-
ah, so much build up. I'm really liking that gainax is taking the time to properly build up to the ending. I wonder why Nia keeps showing up to egg on simon though.. is it just to make him feel bad? That whole, anti-spirals are all about making life suck thing?
-
I would too, but the timing is weird...yamato didn't release the replacement arms until the same time as the shin combo... if they had them around to install on the combo, why wouldn't they release them before? And even if the 0a arms were in short supply because of the impending release, why would that affect the 0s arms?
-
I agree, if the yellow is a metallic gold it makes the molded in magenta look really awful.
-
I wonder if they needed the the yellow to be that color to keep the magenta from bleeding through? Luckily for me, I wasn't a fan of the color scheme to begin with, so as long as it looks good, I'm there.
-
oh nice! Looks like the nacelles (I love David for all his terminology!) sit as high as they can on the back. They don't seem that low in that picture... which is definitely a nicer angle.
-
ah, I figured it was those but didn't know for sure. Thanks Yeah.. i really wish yamato wasn't so darn secretive about their releases. Other companies like goodsmile seem to be much more open and fan friendly. Then again, maybe goodsmile's fans are more friendly... haha.
-
nah, it doesn't have to do with the perspective, it's all about the mode. In gerwalk and battroid, the thrusters slide up along the back. If you look at the double diamonds on the back as a reference point, the thrusters sit well below that line in fighter and in gerwalk and battroid they move up so that the the thrusters are in line with the "diamonds" (what are those anyways?) The transformation sequence on the top right corner of page 90 of design works show the thrusters sliding up and the vanes opening up. More than fowler flaps and detachable limbs, the moving thrusters is actually part of the transformation of the valk. And considering even the 1/72 had a mechanism to do this, I have little doubt the 1/60 would not have it. I just hope it locks in place properly this time... magnets?
-
Nope, I'm looking at a side shot of the yf-21 on page 90 of the Design Works book. The vanes pretty clearly end before knee joint. and you can make out where the knee joint *should* be based on the curve of the leg which is visible in the CAD. The yf-21 has pretty distinctive legs so it's not that hard to guesstimate.
-
oooh, that. yeah... I think the lack of a chest lock for battroid and gerwalk is something most everyone agrees is a sad oversight on yamato's part. well, mostly everyone...

Graham, Any update on whether the combo sets got the new shoulders?
