    Lead Paint?

uhm, there was a pretty clear link, osama was based out of afghanistan at the time, and the US went in to to get him. Afghanistan is not an oil rich country. I think you two are confusing Iraq with afghanistan. But for Iraq, you need to look beyond bush jr and go back to clinton and bush sr. It was under those presidencies that the future invasion of iraq was setup (bush sr.) and the reasons for the invasion were trumpt up (clinton).

yeah, I was in beijing shortly after 9/11 and the invasion of afghanistan, and college students were asking me why the United States invaded without reason. I asked them if they knew about the Twin Towers, which they did, but they had no idea that the attack led to the invasion. As amazing as it sounds, they had no idea.
  3. yeah, there's little reason why yamato couldn't use tampo printing a lot more. I think the whole, catering to the modders, is a crap argument.
  4. Good for universal! Keep up the good fight till prices on players come down to reasonabl levels.
  5. yeah, I'm hoping that the plastic color shown is not final.. they're so flat and obviously "plastic" looking.
  6. In most of the industrilized world, the population is growing and there are fewer and fewer children being born. In japan, for instance, nearly 3/4 of the population was born after WWII and fewer and fewer people are interested in taking care of the elderly. Similar situations exist in Korea, Germany and in other countries where te afluent are having fewer children and young adults are not interested in careers cleaning up old people crap. Elderly and invalid care is a very real concern. The United States is one of few 1st world countries that will not face this shortage due to high level of immigration and high birth rates (thanks largely to the immigrants). Please, even now Fire Stations and Police offices are experimenting with sending in robots into burning buildings and into tense tactical situations. There are plenty of usages for robots in these situations. Further, an eventual, bipedal robot, or multi-legged robot would be better equiped to deal with an environment already designed for such a creature. Mechanical limbs are still robotics. Just becuase they receive direct input from the human they're attached to doesn't mean it's not a robot. Spend sometime outside of a suburb or in any large East Asian city. Many cities like Tokyo and Seoul and are designed in three dimensions. You have skyscrappers that are connected underground and you have modern buildings coexisting with much older buildings. It just is not practical to go through and retrofit everything so that wheeled or tracked robots can zoom around. Further, human density is much greater in these cities than what you would find in most comparable western cities. People would be far less tolerant of a robot that clogs up dense alleys and small back streets.

Having spent some time in china, I can tell you that even college educated chinese can be very naive about the world... a lot of them still completely trust State media and whatever they're told. If they're told that this chemical is good for them or not to worry about this other chemical, most will blindly follow a long. A life time of indoctrination + confucist thinking can make for a very powerful weapon.
  8. let's just wait till we see production pics before jumping to conclusions. The pics posted previously had both tampo and stickers so we don't really know anything.
  9. http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/15/hdmi-eq...rry-90nm-chips/ Here's an article confirming the latest bunch of HDMI enabled Premium boxes are still on the zephyr chipset. I guess I'm still going to be waiting.
  10. no update?
  11. Actually, it's not up and over, it's *in* and up, at least in the line art. The back plate slides underneath the top half of the back and the nacelles seem to lift up. You can tell because the rear portion of the fuselage buldge is still there and unobscured in battroid.
  12. wow! seriously, by hand? that's an amzing job, it looks so darn clean.
  13. It looks to me like the shoulder pad rotates around the bicep and then slides into the cavity of the air intake. well, we all know how much shoji likes to utilize impossibly shared spaces on his more recent designs.
  14. ah, thanks for point that out... I've looked over that diagram countless times but never noticed that little bit with the rotating shoulder pads. Well, I guess if yamato is going to make it anime accurate, the double elbow joint on the yf-19 is going to look like child's play compared to this. Of course comlexity + yamato = nervous.
  15. I wonder if yamato will taper the thickness of the wing then, and not just have a thin line of plastic jutting out?
  16. Well, looking at the oklahoma bombing, the various religous nut jobs living in armed compounds, the various home grown terrorist acts in the UK... I think the idea of a COBRA type organization catching fire is definitely within the reach of a plausible plot. I'm really hoping this movie is james bond and more jason bourne, in that it lives in more of a "real world" and doesn't go over the top with cartoonish and comical elements.
  17. ah. I really hope yamato can make theirs look as nice as that.
  18. yeah, same here. Just going on SK's line art, I don't even know where the shoulder pads are supposed to go, they just seem to disapear.
  19. Please, I hardly jump on everyone who's battying. for example, when we all thought the CAD showed the low lying nacelles, I too voiced my concern about it and I pointed out why low lying nacelles would be inconsistent with the line art. And when David posted a clearer image, I was happy that I was wrong. What I cannot stand, is when people start going off about stuff they can't see. There's a big difference in pointing out existing flaws like the yf-19's crooked gunpod, the Vf-0 crap shoulders, etc etc... and then there's just running around moaning the world is coming to end based on what? CAD art that was used as background for a completely different toy, on a part of the toy that is partially obscured?

I've always maintained that if american factories could produce wares at the same quality level as what we get from overseas, even from "slave labor" countries like china and the philipines, Americans would pay the extra money. The sad fact is, most american made products are of an inferior quality. I personally blame greedy executives and overly strong unions. Neither group cares one bit about consumers.

for some strange reason, various chinese companies seem to love using hazardous materials and chemicals in various products.
  22. OMG, yes, let's bring out the chicken hands. After 4 years of the chicken hand, I don't think yamato is going to change it anytime soon, so go on, bring out that tired pony and ride it around the ring one more time. And what are you comparing the bell bottom to? The line art? The animation? Non transforming kit bashes? the front curve looks to me pretty much the same as the line art, and as I've already stated, the rear part of the calf would swell out behind the belly plate which we can't see. Again, this is just like the "gullet" crap from the CAD drawing, everyone comparing it to everything BUT the line art. And please, if you don't want people to respond to your posts, then why don't you not post it? do you really expect that people should just accept what you have to say at face value and not respond? Or are you the queen of england and should we all just bow and accept your edicts as fact?
  23. meh, everybody kicked and moaned when the yf-19 CAD was shown and griped about this or that. There's speculation and then there's just rampant battying about stuff we don't know.
  24. The swell of the legs happens after the cuff, around the calf. We can't even see it with the belly plate in place. I don't see what all the battying is about when we don't know anything... even about the CAD that we saw.
