  1. TPM was shot on both 35mm and digital film. Mostly on film, yes, but it's still a hybrid production.
  2. And replaced by what? The yuan is completely pegged to the dollar and the Euro is in free fall and in danger of complete collapse. If the world's economy gets to the point where the dollar is no longer the defacto standard, than we'll all have much more to worry about than what our toys cost.
  3. I have fond memories as well. I saw Empire Strikes Back and RotJ in the theaters. I had SW on VHS that I watched so many times the tape broke. No matter what happens, if GL releases the theatrical print or not, I'm never going to be able to relive those moments... but I can be there with my kid as he discovers SW for the first time. I'm just going to choose to not spend my time hating and bitching. But we are all entitled to spend our time as best we see fit.
  4. just transformed my 1st release copy after about 6 months. Still holding up fine but man... this is a design that really hasn't aged well.
  5. nope, he's never seen any of the movies. And we're watching them in order (ep 1-6) and not in order that they were filmed. So he totally didn't see it coming and got broadsided.
  6. my 5 year old watched SW for the first time. Was laughing, running around pretending he was wielding a lightsaber, making lego space ships, zooming around the house and then he was reduced to tears when Anakin became Darth Vader. All the haters can STFU.
  7. Why not? Can't possibly be any worse than all the other Highlander crap out there. And I agree with the Duke. The first movie isn't all that great either.
  8. you really have to force the ankles past their design point though. You meet quite a bit of resistance and then you can push it into a really aggressive angle but afterwards the socket is shot and the ankle will be loose (pretty much unable to hold up the battroid upright) from that point on. And yeah, I've seen a lot of pictures of the 19 in gerwalk with the aggressive foot position and then a post soon afterwards complaining of loose ankle joints. I even did this to my own copy. Ankles were factory tight, then I put it in that pose, cuz it looks neat and then the ankles were loose. Then I fixed it. So yes, it's entirely preventable by not breaking the joint. I can't see how this is anyway comparable to joints that loosen up while not doing anything but holding a static pose. I mean, if you expect joints to be able to move however deeply you want, despite the design limitations, then I expect joints to hold up through more than a handful of transformations. And Jenius, yeah... sure, you do that. I'm sure you'll give it bonus points for being so easy to fix as well.
  9. got the blu-ray (non 3D). Anyone else having problems with deleted scenes loading on a PS3? Some work when I have commentary off and others don't play at all. When I turn commentary on, it automatically starts playing all or whatever scene I clicked last.
  10. but the 19 becomes loose when you stress the joints. The 29 becomes loose just sitting there. My 29 copy's legs swing freely from the hips when I pick it up even though it's just been in an A stance. If you think that's the same thing as forcing the ankle joint until the socket opens up, then by all means, adjust them accordingly. edit: Actually, you probably do think it's the same thing since you docked the vf-19 points because *you* broke it. So whatever, have a field day with it.
  11. That's not really fair there. Hyundai may be inferior to a Ferrari but they still make good cars for their price point. Robotech is a crappy product. period.
  12. no excuses for this, canceled as well. edit: ha, wow. I completely misread your post. But I still cancelled my pre-order. I'll wait for confirmation on those items that you listed before I buy it.
  13. Frank Cho Bryan Hitch Chris Bachalo J Scott Campbell Frank Quitely
  14. Got the playstaion wireless 7.1 headphones. Super easy to setup and use. Sound quality is good though low end is a little on the weak side.
  15. it's night and day man.
  16. for east bay people, the new toy-r-us in fremont is open. They give you a 5$ off 25$ coupon when you walk in the door and the n-strike guns have a "buy-1, get-1 50% off" promotion.
  17. if you want to make sure the mag is fully seated, make sure the pump is either fully forward or fully back. If it is, the mag will make an audible *click* when it it's properly seated. Once it's in, it wont come out unless you hit the mag release.
  18. wow, that looks fantastic!
  19. Lightlances!
  20. The vortex guns are a sled system, there's a tension spring which has a little sled on it that sticks into the hollow plastic center of the discs and then launches them forward. I find the discs to be a lot more accurate and consistent than stock clip system darts, at least stock. Yeah, there is some drift but unmoded darts out of a stock gun like the alpha trooper aren't anything to write home about either.
  21. I think the AT-ATs are fine in design. It's the animation that sucks. They need to be galloping through the snow. Like ZOIDS. That would be a.w.e.s.o.m.e.
  22. Yes, calling names makes your points salient and worthwhile. But you go on, keep talking up how great this movie is, your fanboy fueled delusions are hilarious.
  23. I definitely accept that people like things based on emotional and sentimental appeal. So if it works for you, I'm not trying to say it shouldn't. I like plenty of movies that are "bad" but are still fun to me. I just don't pretend that they're also good movies. And yeah, I get that you're not saying it's a "good" movie but that you liked it. Yeah, TF3 made a lot of money. Not as much as HP7 but it still made ungodly sums. I don't know that Yamato got a wide spread international release at all, in any market outside of Japan. Honestly though, I'm not sure how well it would be received... I have a friend in the Japanese film industry and he was telling me the producers wanted silly money for the international release rights that what was holding things up.
