  1. according to graham, yamato isolated the problem to an interaction between the rubber and plastic used in the original releases. the replacement arms, and apparantly the newer releases have new materials. If you're not interested in paying for the fixes, there's currently no other option. There was a member re-cast project more than a few months ago but there haven't been any updates in quite some time.
  2. a lot of them are billed as " a sci-fi original movie" or some such. and even if they are only airing them, they're still buying the rights and airing them. I can't believe that cobra versus python gets to charge more for commercial time than BSG.
  3. I'll also plug jenius' site. he takes nice clear pictures and his write ups are fair and well written. You won't get a fanboy blowing smoke up your arse and you won't get some zinc bot who hates all things plastic going on and on about how better the diecast stuff was/is.
  4. the 1st release of the 1/48 line (hikaru 1a) has the following problems: wing flaps tend to fall off easily nose cone not as secure front landing bay doors are tricky to remove the 1st relase of the 1s type fixed the wing flap issue. The 1a max type introduced the following fixes: rails on the nose cone to make it more secure design change to the landing bay doors to make them easier to open. Also introduced is a redesigned head rest on the pilots chair, it now has a curved headrest compared to the original which was flat across. All subsequent releases of all variants have the same fixes. The only outstanding QC issue would be on the 1s type occassionaly shipping with skewed skull emblems. All 1/48's have somewhat fragile back pack hinges, so as many have mentioned, care should be shown with that part, particualrly while installing the fast packs. Though, it's hardly as fragile as some would have you believe. there are several disaster survival stories out there, here's mine: my 1s with fast packs rolled off my dresser and fell about two feet on to a nightstand and the fell again on to carpet, nothing broken. There are no issues with the gunpod other than the gunstrap being fussy. So, as long as you're buying re-releases, you have nothing to worry about.
  5. contact HLJ for replacement arms.
  6. true, and BSG's format makes it a hard show to jump in the middle of. Even other story arc driven shows like heroes, 24, prison break, etc have end of season reboots or they start new story arcs to attract new viewers. BSG doesn't and recent episodes even allude to or directly pull from previous season episodes making it pretty daunting for new or casual viewers to keep up.
  7. I'd love to stand in line with the die hard fans but I think I'd rather pop in tomorrow morning and not wait in line.
  8. well, keep in mind one of the reasons why BSG fell in ratings because sci-fi moved around the timeslot and broke up the popular pairing with SG-1. Taking huge breaks in the middle of the season isn't smart either. And if sci-fi has the money to produce endless monster versus small hick town movies, they have the money to produce BSG correctly.
  9. vf-0s (1st release)- tends to break at the shoulder vf-0a (1st release) - tends to break at the shoulder konig monster - a novel toy, but a floppy mess and yamato only bothered to figure out the transformation about 95% who knows about the price, that's a subject of many a flame war around here.
  10. my personal angry german kid video: angry german kid versus prairie dog.
  11. nice, get some pics of the inking in progress as well.
  12. well, it was rumored to be a no go, but apparantly, sci-fi is rethinking that decision... so Caprica might get the green light after all. sci-fi is one of the worst mannaged networks, imo.
  13. the movies and the show are almost two different beasts entirely, but as far as the movies go, 2 is definitely my favorite, followed by the 1st movie and somewhere WAY off in the distance is that patlabor versus giant monster movie.
  14. ah, that's fantastic work!
  15. wow, some great pics on that site, but the color commentary just sucks, nearly every comment is some snide swipe at the new show.
  16. aw man, does that bring up memories...
  17. both sony and samsung have stated that by the end of 2008, 50" LCD tv's should cost around a grand. So there's a pretty big incentive to waiting. That said, I bought my HDTV this july and I love it.
  18. swoosh definitely takes some of the best pics here.
  19. hahaha, that's awesome. Where did you get that tiny little vf-0?
  20. regardless of their intent eh? Sounds surprisingly similar to what some out of work painter said about his nationalistic arms buildup a few decades ago.

    VF11B

I doubt it, like the "1/72" I'm sure yamato will just make it in the same size range as other 1/60 valks and even though it's actually 1/50 or somthing, they'll just call it "1/60"

    VF11B

the 1/72 VF-11 is actually a .5 inches LARGER in toy mode than it would be had it been in 1/60 scale.
  23. escaflowne evangelion cowboy bebop nausica and current favorit: gurren lagann
  24. there's a new HD-DVD drive coming out for the 360, this one supports the new HDi feature set: http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/20/xbox-36...-drive-in-2008/
  25. glad to hear you're finally on board! It's pretty cool when small scenes or even throw away dialogue from one season comes back and pays dividends later on. And yeah, one of the things I love about this show is that characters can be absolutely compelling and interesting while simultaneously being horrible people, the show doesn't insult the audience it just expects us to keep up. I love it.
