Redeeming vader doesn't even come around until jedi. In a new hope, there's no mention of it, vader is just a bad guy. In ESB, vader is still a bad guy but revealed to be daddy, but nobody, including luke says anything about redeeming him. It's not until RoJ does redeem vader become important for luke, so it wasn't central to the story at all, until the prequels made it all about vader. And I'll agree that Dynamite gives us resolution on the gamlin storyline, one I'm perfectly happy with. But if we look at JUST M7, that whole stoy line is just dropped. It's not that we get a resolution that isn't fan favorite or one that makes us shiny inside. And mylene doesn't choose herslef (which is fine), she doesn't choose not to choose (which is a cough out but still acceptable), it's just ignored. In other shows/movies where romantic threads aren't resolved, there's usually a reason for it. IE, the story is about the main character getting to the place where he/she is ready for love or what not. It's up to the viewer to imagine the eventual outcome. If M7 is attempting to do this, it does it very poorly.... again, M7 resolves the A and C plots, but doesn't even give a nod to the major B plot that ran through the entire story from start to finish. anyways, I agree we're not going to agree on this anytime soon, so last post on this subject from me.

some of the missions won't unlock until you get to the specific system, but you can't get to the specific system until you get the coordinates... though, I did complete a party npc quest on accident without knowing there was even such a quest. Also, there was one planet where the baddies respawned after a while (went there again mineral hunting) but there wasn't any sort of story ramification. And some of those emergency transmissions I ignored while i completed whatever quest I was working on at the time. Including some whose descriptions made it sound like bad things were going to happen... and nothing bad did. So, for the downloadable content, I hope there's stuff to do after you've completed the main game, and not just stuff that opens up mid-game -

I don't think it will be that bad. For all the story affecting plot branches, there's only a few, if not just 2, outcomes. So in the next game you just have the appropriate character say the appropriate dialogue, like: oh, commander shepard, it's too you broke the magic mirror." or whatever. (Spoiler: there's no magic mirror in ME). I just want to see what the consequences are... some of the stuff you do could have potentially HUGE ramifications in future games if they're not just dropped. -
redeeming vader became the focal point of the movies after the prequels, but until then, it was the B plot to the "save the galaxy from tyranny" plot. Which makes it a damn good analogy to M7. M7's main plot was about saving the galaxy/defeating space monster. The recurring side plot was the love triangle, which was just dropped. Even "C" plots like Max and Miria got a nod. M7, was not a "slice of life" type show, it wasn't a never-ending show, the characters in the love triangle weren't even defined by their relationships as in shows like seinfeld of ranma 1/2. Not resolving the love triangle doesn't show us anything about the characters nor do the characters grow out of it in any way. Basara is still self absorbed, as far as we knew gamlin still was a pedophile and mylene was still hung up on the two. Resolving story arcs is not a "cliche". Again, that might be realistic to real life, but it wasn't consistent with the genre and it still doesn't make for good story-telling.

well, when you spend the entire series setting up love triangles and other plot elements and just drop them at the end, it tends to feel kinda hollow. Imagine if at the end of the SW trilogy, lucas just dropped the vader as luke's dad plot line. Had luke keep talking about saving dad, but at the end it was never resolved. Realistic, sure, good story-telling? No.

I'll be watching this line for enemy mecha and destroids as well.

maybe something happened during the couple of DECADES between SDFM and M7? -

bleh, M7 happened, lets all move on. Fans will be dying from anuerisms if Kawamori tells us that M7 was ALSO a meta show... because that will mean a meta-character (myelene) will have been affected by the meta-movie (DYRL)... and that's just too bizzare. -
meh, it's a show about song weapons, transforming space planes and ancient space monsters, why interject real life at the end?
-
nice, happy for you.

wow, that's an amazing shot. I don't think I've ever seen a sheer distortion wave before.

from what I've heard, the ME trilogy is supposed to take place within the 360's planned 5 year life cycle... so I'm guessing one a year. I wonder what sort of crazy baddies there will be in the next game... by the end of the game, shepard is crazy powerful. I played as a vanguard and by the end, I only needed my squadmates to open encrypted boxes. The spectre class weapons were so strong, between my pistol and biotics I was just tearing everything apart. -

I just finished my play through on normal difficulty. going to take a break before I go around again. Anyone know when the next game is supposed to come out? I'm hoping some of the minor quests and what not have some pay off later on. I'm particularly wondering on the consequences of some of the big "moral" decisions you make. -

Hmm, one thing I noticed about ME, it suffers from the same problem most RPGs do... namely, if you spend a lot of time completing side quests, you eventually level up so much the regular missions become pretty easy. And I was wrong, biotics do give you near jedi like powers, even with the weak armor, you can pretty much wade in and handle three or four enemy units at a time with ease. -
thanks for setting us straight Graham... I'll go with a wait and see. I have to say, I feel kinda deflated though, kinda like expecting a fancy toy for christmas, only to find out that you got the cheap knock off version.

I know I'm being a parrot on this, but I'm pretty certain the 1/60 scale will be a cheat and the actual scale will be close to 1/48 scale. The original 1/72 scale was pretty close to 1/60 scale all around.

looks like the megaroad, taking off from earth. It seems pretty similar to the shot of her taking off in flashback2012. you can kinda make out the Macross in the background, those two towers in the back with the lights look to me like the main gun. -
10 bucks for a box... that's like 1/3rd the normal price. so yeah, stood in line for diapers.
-
1/60th scale is the future. embrace your destiny!

went shopping this morning and all we got were some crazy good deals on diapers at toy r us.
-
I love the vf-1... but I'd be hard pressed to find a reason to collect a new line/ new scale. If yamato does a perfect 1/60 with all the bells and whistles, I might pick up one or two just for the hell of it, but I doubt I'd buy more than that. There's just too many new designs to pick up, imo.

oh nice, I agree the blue balance on the wings looks more even now. And those daylight pics you posted were great. Sunlight just really helps those colors come alive.

The show ended the only way it could, a didactic and pedantic rehashing of the same theme hammered into us over and over in every episode, every arc for the whole damn show with all the subtlety of a hammer to the back of the head. Having said that, for an M7 episode, it was pretty cool. Basara singing his little heart out, some cool valkyrie violence

nice, that custom really brings that OP toy to life. Stock it's jsut kind of flat and a little sad in bot mode.
-
god, i can't wait. she looks so sleek and sexy and the shoulder hidaways are brilliant. I'm also digging the attention to detail on how the arms mount in fighter mode. Hey Graham, are the kites going to be tampo printed?
