no, there's a bunch of stuff after that. The baltar trial, and the revelation of a bunch of human/cylons. -
okay, could someone explain to me how tolkein was "cheated" out of his rights to LoTR?
-
I think it makes more sense, if you're trying to blend in. I don't know many people who are the size of arnold who don't work out several times a week, if not a day and have a carefully regimented diet... all of which I find hard to believe would be possible in a war torn future where humans are hunted like rats.

I hate comcrap as well. They don't even bother to tag the shows properly so I find that often, the DVR doesn't work because the shows aren't flagged properly as "new" or "repeat". -
Not sure how well silmarillion would translate into a movie(s). I could see them mining select stories and fleshing them out to make a movie or three, but if it were faithful to the language and structure, I think most people would be bored out of their minds. Tolkein fans excluded, of course.

I gotta agree with Jenius. While it would have been nice to kick some of the massive earnings of LoTR films to the estate as a "thank you", the estate didn't really do anything, did they? I mean, it's not as if we're still hand copying books in little huts on the highlands of Scotland by candlelight, right? Ultimately, i just don't care... I would care if JRR was still around and didn't get his just deserts, but his kid? Meh.

I fear there's no way for a game that's been in development for 10 years to really do anything other than disapoint. But who know, I played the hell out of the last duke nukem game back in the day... on my pentium something something... god, I don't even remember the specs on that PC

well, the PoTC framing issue has nothing to do with the encoding or the format... the scenes in question play fine, it's just the heads are cut off in frame, that's a human error and could have happened on DVD or HD-DVD.
-
this has nothing to do with the format, just bad production values. same as the craptastic BSG HD-DVD set.
-
that's too bad. I would humbly suggest you give it a try. I think it's a very worthwhile film and one of the better science fiction films out there.
-
meh, Childrenof Man is very much a spiritual successor to blade runner and I don't think it falls into the usual hollywood cliches.
-
I heard it's going to be so much better than quake! snicker snicker.
-
I can understand people not liking it, I'm not a big fan of film noir myself, but blade runner is hardly overrated. It only set the visual look and emotional tone of near future sci-fi for the next 25 years.

hey, how do you guys feel about this receiver: Sony STR-DG910? It's a bit underpowered but I don't really care about uber loud volume. -
yeah, some people are saying the sequel will be about the early days of aragorn. but I could swear I read an interview or something with PJ about his ideas for the hobbit and that he was going to split the book in two and pad the first movie with a bit on the early days of the ring. shrug. I would think that newline and PJ would think twice about screwing around with the story after all the flak they caught with their relatively minor changes to LoTR...

PJ is a director who NEEDS a good editor. His remake of king kong suffered greatly because of his unwillingness to cut and par down unneccesar and redundant scenes.

what sort of aircraft puns, one liners could we have him say?
-
yes, this was PJ's plan, to split the book in two. Not making a "sequel". Though.. that could be funny... bilbo and temple of doom?

no... Peter Jackson is confirmed as executive producer. That has not been happening as PJ and Newline have been in a pissing match over the LoTR films for a while now with newline saying they will never work with PJ again and all sorts of craptacular stuff being said.

yay, amazon for the win. I actually bought both of these items seperately a week and a half ago... so I called up their help line and got refunded for the bourne trilogy. Pretty good, especially considering that I got the HD-DVD addon for less then what is being advertised on the sale. -

returned the hd-dvd set today to amazon for a refund. 3 out of 6 discs came with scratches and the 5th disc wouldn't play through correctly because of it. Other people are reporting the same thing and I think I'll just wait for a re-release. Can't believe I got yamato'd by a freaking DVD...
