definitely. The UV from a CFL drops off considerably the farther you are from it, so indirect is better than direct lighting and lighting through glass is better still.
-
Oh, I didn't see his reply. And yes, what he says is what CFL manufacturers say, that 8 hours at over 1ft away is about equal to 1 min of full sun. But that's still enough to mess with pigments. But, take a look at the base of any CFL bulb that has been used for a while and you'll see what it can do to plastic. Honestly, I dont see what the controversy is. CFL and florescent bulbs produce the most UV out of the common, indoor, consumer bulbs. UV damages pigments and dyes. If you haven't had a problem with them, good for you, if you're going to use them, I would suggest making sure there's a glass barrier between the lights and your toys, like keeping them in glass display cabinets.

What's healthy for you and what's healthy for plastics are two entirely different things. Yes. The UV levels produced by a CFL light is harmless for you and won't give you a tan, but prolonged exposure to plastics WILL affect them and not just plastics but the dyes used in textiles and even some paints. http://www.gcrio.org/UNEP1998/UNEP98p62.html

just the same from the previous version. Intakes will rub up against the swing bars in battroid and take paint off if you're not careful.
-
No, halogen is low/no uv but they can get hot. So just don't put then too close
-
florescent and CFL actually produce a lot of UV light. Incandescent bulbs don't produce any but they're expensive to run and run hot. LED produces little to none like incandescent bulbs and they're cheaper to run than even CFL but they're pretty expensive right now and even the "dimmable" ones don't really play nice with some dimmer switches (the electronic ones). Halogen bulbs are like incandescent bulbs and don't produce a lot (if any) UV either. Aquarium and other pet bulbs DO produce UV so don't keep your toys around your tropical reef fish tank.

More like a crossover where it gets infected by cosmic rust.

Anyone else's v1 gunpod start spontaneously developing cracks? I swear, i hate that POS, worst F'ing toy I own. It's in such bad condition, I can't even sell it off with a clear conscience.
-
exactly, and don't forget, it's simultaneously accurate to the line art but also better
-
No, no, I meant that the swing wings have a full range of motion. That's why I said that that the wing indents are a nice touch, because they're new.
-
the 1/48 vf-1, v2 1/60 vf-1 and the 1/60 vf-0 all do this. The indents are a nice touch though.

as long as you ignore the super wide hips, the tiny feet, the fact that the head is actually in the same place as on the v2 yamato, the oddly elongated torso, the short arms... as long as you ignore all those flaws, yes, the hi-metal is more accurate than the v2 yammie... when it comes to the backpack placement.

I would just expect paint issues. Of the 5 DX valks I own, 3 came with paint issues out of the box.

that's very cool. For whatever reason, I never noticed it on the 29. Well, the plate never popped off on the 29 either (which is how I even noticed the hinge).
-
oooh, is that what it does?
-
non smart ass answer, temperature/humidity controlled room, no exposure to direct sunlight or florescent lighting, stay away from smoking, or other airborne contaminants, handle with clean hands.
-
Speaking of the shoulder pauldrons, it's nice that the arms can actually pivot at the shoulders now. Bad news is that the bicep swivel is so high that it bumps into the shoulder pauldrons and pushes against them when you rotate the joint.
-
Okay, anyone know what the little hinge on the crotch plate is for? That piece is also designed to clip on and off as well.

just got mine delivered. yay quick impressions. The new gunpod is very nice. It's been mentioned before but the handle is a lock, pull it out before you try to extend and separate the gunpod. It's not covered in release agent! Noticed a few scuffs and marks right out of the box and the fit and finish is "okay". paint isn't the greatest. Like the ver 1 vf-25, some of the paint on the diecast doesn't have good consistency or evenness. There's smudge marks on one of the ventral tailfins where it looks like someone had paint or glue on their fingers. The two halves of the forearms aren't great and look jagged and other seams are noticeable. Maybe it's just my copy but my yf-29 certainly isn't like this. sculpted detail... it's EVERYWHERE and there's a lot of paint apps and tampo printing on this. joints are nice and tight out of the box and the wings have indents on the hinge The 25 finally has a good toy! edit: just noticed that the GERWALK lock also has a little gunpod mount on it that it can stow the gun in GERWALK the way it does on the show. Nice touch!

I dunno, lighting looks fake and look at that grass... psh, crysis did it better.
-
trust me, it's possible. My armored ozma came with paint chips on those little metal shoulder pieces and the head had a huge gash in it where some worker forced the transformation.
-
that's pretty awesome right there.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
eugimon replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
ah, but you're forgetting the first rule in "How to hate Michael Bay": Everything michael bay does is wrong, especially if he does what you say you want him to do. -
temperature controlled, hermetically sealed container with UV resistant coating, pumped with an inert gas with dim LED lighting.

those are great detail adds, incredible work!
