  1. the D-Stance is thicker in fighter mode that the 1/60 as well. The yamato's belly slopes pretty smoothly into the wing while the d-stance has a definite "step" from the wing to the body. Plus the D-stance has those oversized bubble intakes and the shoulder assembly is hidden on the yamato while the d-stance just leaves it all there in the under-carriage. but hey, the d-stance still has thicker legs. Even though they got the cowl wrong, the feet wrong, elongated the fuselage, relied on swappable parts, and over-sized the nacelles.
  2. yeah, I agree. I liked it better than the 1/72, but now it looks overly stretched out and battroid just doesn't compare to the 1/60, fat legs or not. The torso is too long, the cowl looks more like a pointy hat, and the feet are too long. And seeing how oversized the back is, I can understand why the wings on the 1/60 are the size they are (I had wished they were larger)
  3. gunpod still too small, still sits too far back. but thanks for posting the comparison shot. You can really see how the length of the fighter mode is stretched on the 1/48 to favor fighter mode.
  4. "high manuverability" missiles never are.
  5. heh. Macross Zero pretty much negates your last rule though.
  6. try it with a throwaway CD? Maybe an a demo disc? It could just be slightly misaligned and putting it vertical caused it to rub against the tray in an odd way.
  7. ah, that sucks meh_cd. You might as well try resurfacing Mass Effect if you're going to rebuy it anyways. Or you can try selling it to gamestop/eb games, they have a pretty lax policy when it comes to buying damaged discs (they have a big poster in the back with their policies), as long as the scratches aren't too deep, they'll take it and resurface it themselves... which is why I never buy used games from them
  8. Please, I didn't start out "lynching" (and I'm offended to the core you would even use that word in this context) anyone. I merely pointed out that allowances had to be made in translating anime into a toy and why some people may not place the same level importance on the thickness of the legs. It's called a DISCUSSION. He then continued to escalate the discussion with snide and condescending remarks. He also completely ignores anything that might contradict his views or any reasoning why maybe someone doesn't share his opinion. I'm sorry, but he's the only one flaming people for having a differing opinion. In the past, I have bitched about people who look at a blurry snapshot of a partial CAD and start moaning about the end of the world, but once you've seen the thing and don't like it, that's fine. Drifand doesn't like the 1/48 and he has legitimate reasons why, yet he doesn't need to spam every other post with increasing hostile rhetoric on why he doesn't like it. I also notice he doesn't resort to insulting people who disagree with him in order to get his view across.
  9. Not you man, that rule only applies to mere mortals.
  10. I don't mind the shape of the peanut series at all, but I do hate that the buttons on the 880 are all run together, not as easy to navigate by touch on that one. I find the PDA style remotes to be rather obnoxious.... I guess it fits in if you have an actual home theater room but when I see one in a living room controling 3 devices, I just snicker. quietly, and to myself but I still snicker.
  11. nice, I love the way the yf-19 looks in the black.
  12. only, it's relatively easy to put a big HDD on the PS3 but you're locked into buying an overpriced upgrade for the 360 for a meager 120 gig.
  13. well, you better start looking for an older PS3 then, the newer ones only do software legacy support.
  14. I think if you consider I Am Legend was originally going to be an ahnuld movie, it all makes sense. I disagree about 3:10 to yuma... it only delivered 1.5 great acts, the last part of the 2nd act just dragged on and on.
  15. wait until those exclusives come out... maybe there will another price break, who knows? But you're playing the 360 NOW so why not get that? I'm not loyal to either, I'm loyal to me, and I like games. I don't care when platform they're on.
  16. same here, those bubble gun turrets just kill it for me.
  17. I thought this was confirmed by a sony rep?
  18. yes, many people said they would like the legs bigger and most of them understand there are limitations when taking anime and making it "real". And most of those people like the proportions just fine after seeing the actual toy. You on the other hand, have been kicking and screaming like a baby about the legs, even whining about it in a thread that has nothing to do with the yf-21. And again, please explain to us all how that drawing you posted is supposed to transform. Please explain how and where the legs are supposed to go when one leg is bigger than the whole bot. Please explain why the wings are the same size as the tail fin.
  19. yeah buddy, because there's 70 pages of people loving the new sculpt and then there's you, hell, just in the couple of pages you've been whinning on like a 7 year old, how many people have agreed with you? And lets look at that drawing you posted, one leg is bigger than the rest of the mech. And the main wing is the same size as the tailfin. so you're saying the fighter mode should have to accomdate those obviously distorted proportions? Again, there's a posable yf-21 coming out with those wonky proportions. But if you can't accept that the animators played with the proportions in the various modes for the sake of looks, then that's just sad. Just because you don't like the design, doesn't mean that people who do have to "justify" anything to themselves.
  20. please, stop twisting what we're saying so that it fits your narrow definition of what looks good. Also, your insistance of relative size of the legs is pretty much your impression only. Most of the shots in M+ show the legs as being decidedly less robust than the yf-19s and many of the shots are in force percpective with the camera looking up at the mech from below, so of course the legs will look beefy. Most of us are pretty happy with how it looks in battroid and gerwalk mode. As for defeating the purpose of making it variable... no sir, that's what you keep saying. Making a valkyrie that doesn't have a believable fighter mode just makes it a transformer.
  21. haven't you been following his sv-51 saga/debacle? He might be broke from all the loses he's taken on trying to get 1 good one.
  22. sorry dude, most of us display our valks on stands and the yf-21 is coming with its own stand. And the whole point of a valk is that it is a realistic fighter that turns into a robot, not the other way around. It makes no sense to have an uber cool bot mode that turns into a box with wings in the macross aesthetic. That's fine if that's what you're into, gundam and transformers do a fine job of make robots that transform into approximations of planes. But macross is the only franchise that makes realistic planes. Besides, you really need to take anime magic into consideration. The animators distort proportions for artistic effect, and those flubs and tweaks just would not work out in real life. The arms on the vf-1 magically got shorter and fatter, the yf-19 magically got wide and stocky all the pre Mac 0 valks magically get thicker legs, not just the yf-21. There are just real world limitations when it comes to translating 2D drawings into 3D objects.
  23. Basara wasn't selfish, he was unconcerned with the immediate wants and needs of the people around him.
