  1. I'll agree with lazy for the most part... One thing we're assuming here is that the people who own these sets were the ones who bought them. My aunt is a prime example, she's an older lady and her son went and bought her a big HD DLP set so she could watch her shows. Only, my aunt likes to watch korean dramas which she rents by the dozen on VHS cassettes. She didn't need an HD set but her son wanted to do her a solid. It doesn't make her stupid or lazy, she just way different priorities on what she wants her TV to do.
  2. I don't think it's fair to characterize people who don't know the ins and outs of their tech as stupid. These people grew up around a technology that was essentially little different from a toaster in how it was used. You plugged it in to the wall, plugged in an antenna (the source didn't matter they all plugged into the same jack) and turned it on. Suddenly TVs now have what? Composite, S-Vido, Component, HDMI, Optical, VGA jacks and HDMI seemingly changes every six months. A cable used to be a cable, but now you have to check if it's compliant to some standard that wasn't even around when you bought your TV in the first place. Hell, there's so much confusion as to what to even plug into your brand new HDTV and what format does what or what resolution to watch it in. Just a few years ago, TV had ONE resolution, as far as mos people knew, and now it has what, 7? Seven different display modes? Frankly, I understand why people don't "get" their technology because technology is no longer being developed with the average user in mind. It's being built and designed around the early adopter, the type of person who doesn't mind scouring the internet for firmware updates and codes to get into the service mode. Unfortunately, like most technology, no one pays any real technology on the user interface. As the capabilities get more and more complicated, the UI for most of it remains daunting and cumbersome.
  3. I find it flattering you all are so interested in MY omega pants. I'll just say that there were no compromises made for battroid mode.
  4. no one's worried. Most of us are pretty happy about this. We were just answering the hypothetical: what if the new 1/60's cost as much as the 1/48?
  5. Thankfully, Van Damme's sphincter is stronger by far than the facehugger's proboscis thanks to years of 'excersice'. With a violent squat, can damme snaps kills the facehugger, snapping off it's proboscis, but van damme failed to consider the alien's acidic blood! As Van Damme slowly dissolves into from his ass up, he notices the blood sinking deeper and deeper into the earth itself. As his vision slowly greys out, he feels the very earth tremble and from deep within he hears a terrible robotic voice boom out, "I am MEGATRON!" as he breathes his last and finally melts away into a pool of acid and bubbling blood.
  6. cool, thanks for taking the time to answer Chrono. I see what you're talking about in terms of 2D/3D intergration now. At first I thought you were talking about the synching of hand drawn animation and 3D objects together in the same scene so they were at a constant and consistent frame rate... and I thought/think that MF actually does a pretty good job at that. But I understand now that you're talking about the actual visual look of those elements and in that I have to agree with what you're saying. On the other hand, I don't think the animators are even trying to mesh those two very much. It looks to me that they're taking a page out of the GiTS: SAC playbook and not even trying to make the CG stuff look like it's animated. I guess after watching 2 seasons of GiTS, I just don't mind the disparity between the hand drawn stuff and the CG.
  7. G-force only affects you during non combat flying.
  8. this is a universal anime rule.
  9. yeah, i think people got confused on that scene because the angle changed drastically and the 1st shot didn't make it real clear that the VF-25 was in gerwalk mode. So if you didn't catch that, then the scene reads as the vf-25 goes from fighter to battroid and then you see the scene again but now the vf-25 is in gerwalk and then to battroid.
  10. wow, that's complete crap. I already pay for the 'privilege' of online multiplayer, I shouldn't have to pay again to play an MMO. Hell, it's not even like MS runs dedicated servers hosting games like Halo 3 anyways.
  11. If this price is similar to the 1/48, I'd probably just get the 2 seaters and maybe a 1s just to pose along with the other 1/60 valks but no more. I'd get more if the price point is under 100 bucks, especially if that price comes with the FAST packs. Hell, on the 1/60, I don't even care if the FAST packs have the gimmicks of the 1/48 set. I wouldn't sell off my 1/48s either. Maybe a dupe or two but so far, I still think of the 1/48's as the definitive VF-1.
  12. wow, live is still lagging. Did MS sell a bunch of systems this christmas or something? I haven't had problems logging in since halo 3
  13. but it looks good in battroid mode, could it be a rare battroid mode compromise on the 1/48?
  14. there's so many to choose from: prophet batty bouncer omega pants What does it take???
  15. I was hoping it would when I thought of it.
  16. I like the way the gameplay looks, I'm not too fond of the faces though, well at least Ryu's.
  17. I just want to be clear here. I wasn't knocking chrono for his opinions, I just wanted to know where they were coming from.
  18. oh woops, I guess I didn't pay attention.
  19. hey chrono, What do you do in real life? You had some pretty good criticisms of the CG SDF as well and it seems that you have a better trained eye to CGI than most of us.
  20. nah. I agree with you, I was just making a joke that the toys kept macross in the public's mind during the long lulls between animated projects. And while i like the new 1/60 battroid mode, I think the fighter mode leaves something to be desired. And I'm curious to see gerwalk mode. the placement of the backpack on the 1/48 is too far back and I'm hoping the 1/60 doesn't share that problem.
  21. hey, how else are they going to make money off the franchise?
  22. you mean like yf-21 "omega pants"? Actually, not a bad idea. like the tv style hands, it's an option that will keep the PT guys happy but it will also give the line art guys a way to display the thing in a way that's closer to the anime look.
  23. I tend to agree with you, but I think the sixaxis fails because it tacked on motion sensing into a regular controller while the wii control scheme was designed around motion sensing. I mean, you couldn't play tennis or bowling or 2/3rdds of the motions you can do with the wii mote, not easily or comfortably anyways. If those sketches are accurate at all, it looks like MS learned from Sony's mistake and they're designing their motion sensing controller from the ground up. But given the library of games on the 360, I don't really see what motion sensing would add, unless MS is planning on a bunch of Wii ports.
  24. yup, canopy, head, belly plates. otherwise it's the same as the yf-21
  25. I think that scene was just meant as an instant replay from a different angle in slow motion. It's pretty much the same scene, he goes from gerwalk to battroid, so there's no continuity issues.
